A sheet of hardboard in the van can avoid situations such as this, yes I know its after the horse has bolted but its worth consideration for the future, nothing worse than having to pay out for damage claims !

ParticipantRe: FSB worth joining?
Never been bombarded with leaflets, but once a year upon renewal they send a information pack showing various products which may be of help to a business.
As mentioned Free Banking, Tax Investigations the costs which could significant to any business are part of the membership, Employment Legislation and Advice ( personal experience ) and which is a complex law that many struggle to deal with and which saved me from a few pitfalls.Personally I think its a worthwhile expenditure versus the benefits, FWIW

ParticipantRe: Here we go again, TradeMark Copyrights
Well Official Confirmation back from Yell’s Legal people is that they do not have permission to use any trade marks or logo’s from any company. The onus falls to the advertiser to make sure that any trade mark or logo in their add has permission to be used. Now while we all knew, suspected or guessed this Yell randomly use these items willy nilly in building an ad, send out the proofing and then publish. This practice is wrong in my view and I have have told them so, if THEY build an add using these then they should FIRST check with the advertiser that any logo or trade mark has permission to be included.
This bring us nicely to anyone using trade marks, logos on their vans, adverts etc. Stratford Girl is right to say you could be sued for passing off or a number of other infringements and it takes only one company to take exception to what you are doing for action to be taken.

beware yell selling you count lists as this means calls diverted via a special number your own number will not be shown! although you will receive all call via either, its a bit pointless if you have your standard number on cards, vans, invoices etcwilf
As far as the Call Counter Numbers go, they are in my view useful, with Call Counter numbers you can see exactly how many people have call you via those numbers and at what times ! Without which how else would you effectively monitor and gauge if the advertising was paying its way ?There will in my opinion be few people who will cross reference numbers on Yell.com to the numbers used elsewhere, The name is the same and they will use whatever number is published to call you. Customers who have your invoices, cards and who see your vehicle will still use those numbers.
At least this is my experience and I have 1st and 3rd place sponsored listings so we are always 1st or 3rd in different classifications, we get a lot of calls from Yell.com in our directory area, a lot of people commute into London, at the office they do not have a copy of the local telephone directory or Yellow Pages to hand, however they have www access and we are by that medium one click and call away !
Suits Me !

ParticipantRe: STOP THOSE CASH JOBS!
The thing about this is that this minister is a hypocrite ! of the highest order, do as I say and not as I do. Here is some backround on this man and he has the bear cheek to try and tar all small businesses with his poison !
Mr Gauke did not emerge unscathed from the Daily Telegraph’s 2009 investigation into parliamentary expenses.
It emerged that he had claimed more than £10,000 to cover the stamp duty and other fees from the purchase of his second home in London, and it is this which many members of the public have raised in response to the minister’s “morally wrong” comments about tax evasion. Then there is his wife, Rachel, also a solicitor, who features in a photograph proudly displayed on Mr Gauke’s constituency website a day after the birth of one of their three young sons.
Like her husband, Mrs Gauke is a tax expert; she currently works as an adviser to LexusNexus, specialising in corporate tax law.
The firm’s website states that its staff “support every tax practitioner on the front line as they deal with the tax collector“.Its jobs for the boys, all in it together colluding, bending, and they have no concept of the working people of this country as they are too busy using loopholes to enhance their own finances:

Mm ! These were all machines that had never been worked on, I seem to have been alone in having the luck to find three on them as my Zanussi Mate has never seen this issue at all. Zanussi take the view that it is not a known issue but then again any manufacturer would say that.

ParticipantRe: Here we go again, TradeMark Copyrights
I understand this to be the case, however when you have a look around the web, other repairers some of whom I have operating in my service areas, Trademarks are exploited all over the place, the manufacturers would have a full time job bringing legal cases against such breaches if they were so minded. We have a few other engineers working our area who have so many brand trade marks plastered on their vehicles which in all honesty look a mess, but thats for them to figure.
On another note I had a similar conversation with Yell and BT and they see nothing wrong in using trade marks belonging to other companies, this in my view is a practice which should really stop as it could likely place a business unaware of the term Passing Off in jeopardy.
Anyone else run up against this ?

It is interesting however to note that those repairers that have nationwide coverage, the bigs wigs in the game, are careful NOT to display any logos in their advertising. How very wise…
How very wise indeed Martin, I wonder what they know that maybe we do not ?
Having had a think about this for the last 24 hours I am strongly leaning toward having all the logos removed and replaced with some plain text which cannot be copyrighted, the message is the same but without the risk of Mr Nasty banging on the door !July 13, 2012 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Letting agency deducting 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} #376891squadman

We have one agency which adds a commission on the bill, we get what we want and if they want to rip off their clients thats up to them,
