    Re: response times

Yes they all vary, for instance you may find that it is geographically independant when you look at the results, in my area at the moment Indesit/ Hotpoint are booking 4/5 days ahead for trading and warranty calls, whirlpool the same, Serviceforce 3/4 days, within 48 hrs.

Again idependant service is the preferece of the customer as know one wants to be waiitng a week or more to get their appliances repaired.

That being the case how does one log on to that ?

Can it be that Whrilpool UK have an online resource of SIOS which is free of cost whilst at the same time offering a offline resource at cost ?

Well we’re waiting for the URL

    Re: SIOS DISKS

Well as my post was on for days and nobody came forward I began to think that my question was so obvious that perhaps I should’nt have even posted it in the first place !

I stand to be corrected but do I smell a hint of P… take here ? Having phoned Whirlpool UK to find out from the horses mouth that turned out to be a extremely time consuming and fruitless journey. The upshot was that nobody there seemed to know how or where to obtain Sios, Strange but True. So I natrually thought that there would be users of Sios here so thats why I asked the question.

Having not received any responses I asked around and got a number in the kingdom of Whirpool and have now placed an order for one which I am awaiting.

If the earlier responses were in good faith I offer my apologies to you, for those who are interested SIOS is available from Whirlpool UK at a price of £ 58.95 which lasts a full year, are you listening INDESIT a full year !!!!!

Contact Mike Rayner at Whirlpool a nice helpful chap.

Exactly, use it or lose it. This is what has happened the sheds came in and damaged the indy trade just like your corner grocer or butcher the supermarkets wiping loads of small businesses out.

This does not mean that all is lost, far from it, lets look at ISE for a minute, many said that it would’nt work even my business colleague had strong reservations that we could sell such a unknown product at the prices. YOu have to be able to think outside the box I could see that ISE was just the very thing for our business as it attaches all of the core things we need as small business whist preventing the sheds from even being able to compete.

I reckon that there is a big market for the kind of service we offer and the sheds cannot match it or come close, they are victims of there own design and the consumers are starting to see theme as just box shifters.

Sounds like an interesting case ? its unreasonable for your friend to be implicated in this and the court will look at what was and is reasonable.
Having had a couple of small claim experiences the circuit judges are very quick to work out who is the goody and bady. Like Jackal has said he cannot be held responsible for this and the court will see this for what it is. I would pass Jackels sound advise onto your pal.

Please let us known how this ones ends up !

Looking back at the last recession we done very well, people adopted a make mend policy as opposed to buying new.

Listening to Gordon Brown yesterday morning being interviewed on Radio 4 he was spouting more crap about Britain being a place where people can realise their dreams and ambitions, where people can get point of delivery medical treatment, where people can start a new business !

All sound familiar ? of course it does I can recollect his very first budget speech, along the lines that this is a budget for the British Family and Small Business !

Whilst I accept that there are some extenuating world financial problems many of them brought about by the greed of the banks, we are all suffering the mismanagement of this fellow. I feel especially sorry the the people trying to run haulage firms many facing ruin, and I doubt the goverment wil be there to bail them out like Northen Rock !

Lets see what news the local elections bring as a barometer to the faith people have.

Good idea but I carry a wet and dry vac which I use, if you have a intergrated DW full of water you just pop the hose in and suck the water out, Same if the floor gets flooded, No towels, no mops, no ongoing costs, happy customers and nice and quick.

Exactly, that is the process I have used when clips like this are in use and never had a problem yet.

    Re: Insurance fiddle?

Yes we have this now and again, there are those who seem to claim whenever and for whatever they can no wonder insurance premiums go up ! The thing is that all Insurance companies now share claims information on a central database which they say is for the provention of fruad. Most insurance companies these days will no longer pay out cash for claims prefering to replace whatever has been lost or damaged with a near or like product from there own selected suppliers and ranges as I understand it.

The motor would require to be DC to have a choice of direction and using a timer with inverse cams and a suitable control unit. A perfect example of this design is the early Philips Permag Motors which ran on DC at about 48vdc

    Hi,

As far as Aircon systems go avoid the type like B & Q sell especially the ones that look like dehumidifiers with a attach hose that you poke out of the window.

Choose a true split system, most if not all of these have heat pumps to provide heating as well as cooling and there own air recirc or dehumidifier functions. Choose a system with a decent compressor like Hitachi or the Carrier systems are good value. I installed my own in a recording studio a couple of years back and its all common sense. You need to take care with the site of the installation as regards ceiling heights, air flow and of course electrical and drainage considerations.
Most have hand held remotes to control the inside unit. Try a pick a shaded area for the outside unit not exposed to direct sunlight or natrual heat trap in the summer.

Costs vary but Ebay has interesting deals ! calculate your room size and there are online coefficient calculators on line to work it all out.

    Hope this helps

Each Appliance that we work on is a dangerous preditor who would lke more than anyting else to bite you at the earliest chance its gets !

UNPLUG the machine from the mains, that way it cannot bite you.

If we take any lesson of repairing an appliance let it be this one.

That is a horrendous story from washdoctor and a warning to everyone else who operates in this trade. Martin is correct about starting a hate SF thread but Washdoctor has my thanks for posting this terrrible exeperience here so that we can learn a valuable lesson.

My sincere comiserations to Washdoctor for this most unfortunate situation.
