    Re: Hotpoint FDM550

    Thanks Jim.

Looks like the dreaded ‘Heater Fault Code’. Let’s pray for a nice simple dry joint!

    Cheers,
    Steve.

Any ideas on this one would still be useful?

If the client is nearby then it’s always worth popping a new digital pressure switch on the machine and let them try it for a week or two.

    Re: Zanussi ZWF1631W E30 Fault

    Hi Keith,

    One word… NIGHTMARE

I’ve had quite a few of these over the last two and a half years since my original post. Also had many problems with the washer dryer versions.

I think most of these faults are now computer control board faults. I had some success with quite a few by changing the wash heater (or, on the washer dryer, by disconnecting the dryer heater). For whatever reason this seems to work far less now. Not sure why.

How old is the machine? Check customer paperwork if poss as I find that they constantly under-estimate age.

The problem is that new control boards for these are pretty expensive and part numbers vary a lot and even one model number can have two or three possible control modules meaning that you’re unlikely to find use for a control board if you mis-diagnose the fault.

If this machine is fitted with a digital pressure switch then it might be worth taking it off and banging it around a bit.

Re: AEG & Zanussi/Electrolux Frost Free – Fridge not cooling

As I said, the fan at the rear of the freezer runs perfectly. The problem is that, if you leave it off for 48 hours, then it works perfectly for anywhere between a week or a month.

Re: AEG & Zanussi/Electrolux Frost Free – Fridge not cooling

I have exactly the same fault on the AEG version of the models initially mentioned. Carried out power-off defrost for 48 hours but not water came out. Switched back on and ran perfectly for 5 days but then with no warning the fridge temp went back up to +11 and will not come back down. Fan at the rear of the freezer runs perfectly.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this one?

    Cheers,

I have the same problem this morning on a WAA28160.

Heater is on whenever machine is powered up so long as there is water in the drum. As a result it’s heating on rinse! As soon as water drains and pressure switch clicks over to empty the heater switches off. I’m assuming that the heater relay if jammed. Going to give EMW a call.

Re: Indesit DIF04 Dishwasher (Two in a week with the same fa

Okay, thanks, thats good info, I’ll check it out next week and report back. It’s funny really, I thought that door wiring faults on dishwashers were a thing of the past. I remember back about 15 years when I’d get 3 or 4 door wiring faults per week. Since then most makers seriously improved their designs meaning that door wiring was routed in such a manner that it couldn’t get snagged on the sound proofing or get over stressed as it passed through the hinge at the base of the door. I guess this model is a big step backwards – cost cutting no doubt!

    Cheers,
    Steve.

You mean where the wiring runs from the base of the door?

Re: WF540 with ‘Reduce Crease’ light flashing…

Ended up going out to the machine. As I suspected it was a control board failure rather than the F04 which the panel was indicating with the flashing light.

Examine the main control board. Check particularly the surface faces off the chips / transistors – these seem to blow on these machines.

Check the capacitors on the main PCB in machine base.

The machine will work fine on the wash cycle with all 4 heater terminals disconnected. You can tie the 4 leads safely out of the way so that it can be repaired later if the customer decides that they want the dryer working (they sometimes do come October!)
