ParticipantThanks Martin. I have a number of PDF’s which cover Zanussi machines but not one for this machine. Is there a PDF available for this machine which contains these error codes?

ParticipantGood Luck!
Most of the wiring disapears into a channel under the sealed on lid at the top. The fridge thermistor could be anywhere!

ParticipantNot familiar with this exact machine but I’d try and establish what method the model uses to measure the water present inside the machine. ie pressure chamber + switch or perhaps, like some newer Bosch machines, a metering device which measures water flow directly from the inlet valve.
My first guess would be that dirt has built up somewhere in one of the pressure chambers.

ParticipantI think the thermistors are set into the casing when it built (thrown!) together making it a very tricky repair.

It was the door interlock. The microswitch itself was okay but the contacts in the small terminal block between the interlock and the harness are the weak link. Made a slight modification and the machine now works perfectly.

ParticipantYes – It does a double beep when you try and start it.
The door lock itself looks pretty basic in electrical terms. You are correct in that the machine responds in the same manner regardless of whether the door is open or closed and I see your logic on that point. However, the door lock itself is just a microswitch and when pressed with a screwdriver appears to give a nice healthy click.
I’ve had a look at the part online. Here is a link… http://www.espares.co.uk/part/tumble-dr … latch.html
As you can see the electrical side of things is very simple. Normally failed microswitches dont click so positively.

ParticipantSorry, I worded that badly! What I really mean is that soon as the selector is moved from the off position the start light begins flashing and the start button does not start the machine.

ParticipantJust asking again for ideas on this one? Surely someone has a diagnostic PDF?
Cheers,

ParticipantI have a customer with a similar problem and the only way we have found to stop it is to run the machine with the soap draw open around an inch. Careful examination revealed that water from the inlet (in the roof of the soap box) would occasionally direct itself onto the very front of the soap draw (the ledge) rather than into the two compartments. The event seemed completely random. Another customer had the same thing happen under g/tee and the soap box was changed but it still leaked. Again I advised running the machine with the draw slightly open and they phoned me a short time later to advise me that the suggestion had ‘worked’.

ParticipantDoor switch is a simple micro-switch affair and seems okay. The fact that the start light is flashing says to me that the electronic box of tricks does a quick system check as soon as you set the program knob on anything but the ‘off’ position – the programmer is detecting a fault somewhere. It would be useful if someone knew how to access the diagnostic side of the electronic box of tricks.

ParticipantHave customer with same problem – Any chance of an email as well?
Cheers in advance,

ParticipantI have the same fault on a Hotpoint FFM74 – the customer is reporting that the fridge section is freezing milk etc. Any information would be really useful be I pay a visit.

Yes – I saw one of those – I’ll check it tomorrow. Is it repairable if it does turn out to be jammed?

ParticipantNice job! In my experience they normally see sense.
Good luck Monday. Don’t forget your steel toecaps and yellow hard hat. 😉

ParticipantThey’re just covering themselves. I used to do the appliances in a couple of local schools until they demanded proof of £5 million public liability cover. It’s all getting far too silly.
