ParticipantRe: Fischer & Paykel Dishwasher DD603H And others
Hello John,
Thanks for the quick response.
Very much appreciated. I am not sure about the link arm, but Connect are sending me some diagrams over, so I will look at them.
I don’t normally deal with these (don’t even like doing dishwashers). But these three have landed with me as it seems some other engineers in the area are cherry picking. I am a bit like a dog with a bone. So I will do my best to get them fixed.
Just a bit of a pain when you have customers constantly chasing like it were a kidney dialysis machine that had failed!.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies
I had two pumps in my van. A hotpoint and a Bosch. Both leaked on fitting.
Brought into workshop, fitted a non gen and no leaks.
Thanks for the salt dispenser tip. Will look out for that one.

ParticipantRe: samsung rs 21 /r600a refrigerant question ?
Hello,
As far as I know, most of the RS21 series were manufactured with R600a gas.
Doe not matter if the refrigerant is R600a, the start device wether solid state PTC or relays. Does not matter, as the unit is normally hermetically sealed and a spark has nothing to ignite.
If it was designed to run on R134a. It can be retrofitted with an R600a compressor. But should be marked as you mentioned.
However, there was a recall for these models where Samsung fitted a series of fuses in-line with the defrost heater connections. Thus, if a short occurred between the heater and evaporator. One of the Glass fuses should blow before the isobutane can escape from the system, mix with air and become flammable.
The back evaporator covers were replaced too.
If the customer has not had this done, may be an idea for them to call Samsung.
Hope this helps?

Martin wrote:Access to the drain pump is easy once the front metal plate (held on with 2 T20 screws) is removed. It’s just a bayonet fit, release the locking tab and twist the pump toward you (clockwise) approx 10 degrees to remove. Clean the housing and refit in reverse order. Provided the pump is correctly seated it is virtually unknown for them to leak.
Thanks.
Yes, I have done a few in the past, without a problem.
This Siemens one had a black cover on the front. I had to tip machine on its back (water all over floor). Remove black plate to get the metal plate off that you mention.
Then i could not get my hand in. So had to loosen the base.
I would not say it was an easy task.
I would say the idea and design is cr4p. Very much like many Liebherr designs.

ParticipantRe: comet
Whilst Comet staff have my Sympathy, it has been on the cards for some time.
I set up a Major retail store selling white goods inc built-in as an independent. It was modern, bright and well run.
Our Competitors within 1 mile when I set it up were…
Comet
Currys
Courts
Miller Bros
Scottish Power
MFI
Wickes
B&QThen the Internet Exploded
Then ASDA, Sainsbury’s nearby started selling white goods and Tesco opened up down the road. It was Tesco and our Tyrant of a Landlord (since deceased) that was the nail in our coffin.
Manufacturers and suppliers did nothing to help us, only stich us up. Long story. We had direct accounts with Bosch and Candy were both very good at selling us a product for promotion, only to find it in Comet for £100 a couple of days latter.
We hand picked what we sold. Had a store jame packed with quality products. Fast Delivery, Very well trained, Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Engineers on hand on the shop floor. We specialsed in white goods and as we did not sell PC’s, TV’s Phones, Games Consoles etc. We could concentrate on what we knew.
Business was good but very very hard. Up and down.
But retail is tough business, glad we are out of it. But as totally Independent Independents, we put up a tough fight. look at the list above and see how many “Big Boys” have already fallen by the wayside since and look how many are struggling!.
Last time I went for a walk through Comet and Currys’s. The place was full of cheap chinese Sh1t with the odd quality brand or product hidden somewhere amongst it.
Worse still, In Comet, despite many customers walking around. FIVE staff stood in the corner talking about the weekend (loudly). Discussing with some pretty bad language how much beer they had drank, who had the worst hangover and how they were going to do it all again next weekend.
I walked out after 30 mins or so. Went home, surfed the net and bought my goods from a Small Independent retailer or the high street via the internet.
I only hope the remaining Independents continue to thrive.

My 7 year old daughter was looking at her latest booty and, obviously scrutinising the back of this game and, quite profoundly and without any hesitation or coaching said…
“Dad, this game was made in Germany”
“Oh really,” says I, “why did you notice that then?”
“Well,” she replies, “everything is made in China now, it’s just so unusual.”
You could have paid to see the expression on my face and I honestly still don’t know what to make of that one but, somehow, that worries me.

Well that made me smile.
No thanks button on this forum, so THANKS.
My 2 year old Grandson was helping me count the change from our savings pigs yesterday. It is a family tradition, we save all the coppers, some silver and the odd Fiver in a big breakable pig for our summer Holidays in France or Spain.
We got to £580 and I announced
“Well thats good, at least we got the money for the Diesel to get there”
He protested and said………..
“But that is our ice cream and beach Money Grandad”
He is TWO! And already chalenging the Budgets!

What are the actual symptoms?
I am confused by your post.
Is the Display totally Blank when powered up or is there part of one of the figure 8’s lit by a vertical or horizontal dash.
