ParticipantRe: Advice required please.
they using her because she is young and vunerbale.
tbh;
citizen advice is a waste of time.
shes got paid now, but i had the same problem working in the security industry.my pay was a week overdue, i worked weekend nigthshifts, i got no where with any of the places who were supposed to be ther to help, tribunals etc a waste of time.
i was angry all week, which made me miserable.
this is what i did and i strongly suggest your niece does the same;
my shift stared the follwing week at 6pm.
i telephoned my employer at 5.30pm and told him, im not being funny but as i didnt get paid last week, ive got no money to put petrol in the car.
he was as furious as i was the week before, this made me feel much better.
he dunked me in it, tit for tat, i said to myself im not getting pissed aobut like a soft touch, so i dunked him in it.
he had no one working that nightshift, and had to find someone within 30 minutes.
i later found out from another employee that he had to pay the double time for the 12 hour shift as it was such short notice.
he told me not to come back, i said, im only being truthfull im not peeing you about, but i have been skint all week, and i couldnt even go out for a drink with a girlfriend because i had no petrol in the car. she since dumped me cos she said i was no good if i couldnt take her out.
he didnt appoligise, but he told me i wouldnt get my papers for leaving and i wont get another job.
i called at the jobcentre monday morning and told them what had happened, they said dont worry, we will backdate any benefit when you didnt get paid, they did so.
i got fixed up with another job same monday i visited jobcentre.
some employers just take the biscuit and its their way of flexing their authority, depsite it being wrong, no tribunal will bother their backside and the c.a.b. is a advice centre which give the “right” advice but not necessarilt the “best” advice for you.
i can gaurantee, it will hapeen again to your neice. if she lets them get away with it once, they will do it again.
is there a written contract to say when she receives her pay? no, there isnt. it wount stand up in a court of law, if there is no written contract or proof that she has done the hours.
belive me, been there done that.
and your neices employer knows that too, and they know they will get away with it.torxhead
ParticipantRe: People who don,nt want to pay
as gand h1 says, ive had that before.
customer rings, book me out, when i arrive they say whilst your here can you look at my cooker,
my reply, ill have a look but its a seperate job (use initiative no full price but not free, depending on work needed doing)i also, say, if you told me on the phone it would of been cheaper, because i would of brought some parts and special tools for both the machines from my shop and not just parts for one of them, so i will have to come back on a second visit with the parts for the second machine, if you told me in the first place i would of brought more spares and wouldnt nned to call back twice.
time is money, and calling twice cost more fule and time.sorry pet, im no psychic, next time tell me what you want doing.
like churchhill said;
give use the tools and we will do the job !! simple, aint it

ParticipantRe: dogs
just been reading some of your posts about dogs and entering the house.
like one or two have said, it is the stupid owners and not the dog at fault.
during my absence from the trade i trained as a security dog handler with my german shepherd.what i learned;
if you want to put the dog into attack mode and bite, you shout “security officer with dog, come out or ill come in with the dog”
the dog then responds, it does not take alot of training to allow your dog to recognise a hostile situation.
you could should “i love you so much, pet, that i want make passionate love with you now” and the dog will respond as if in a hostile situation.
when owners shout at their dog in a “telling off” tone of voice, they are less likely to obey than if you said for example “good boy, come to daddy”
im saying this for some tips for those of us who enter houses with dogs.
intorduce yourself to the dog, in an excitable tone of voice, as if you are old friends who havent been together for a long time.
you can tell straight away by looking at the dogs tail for its mood. if it is curled upwards, then stay put. if it waggs from side to side you know you can make a friend.
sometimes the dog is unsure, and will defend its territory if it feels you are a threat. you have to show them that you are not.
and the owner should be saying in a “high” tone excitable voice, “go and say hello, who `s this”
some dogs, however, because of the poor communication and lack of bonding the owner has made with the dog, will just lunge straight towards you. there is no quick fix for this and the owner will know from other people previous visiting, what the dog will do. it is upto the owner to get their act together and make the dog feel more at ease in its own home around other people. if they shout at it to stop, it will only go the harder toward you.
anyway, i could write a full essay, so a couple of main points;
never put your fingers through the letterbox (ive learned that lesson 15 years ago)
if you feel unsure and lack comfidence with meeting a dog, then its best safer to ask the owner to kindly put the dog in the other room out of the way because you are a bit nervous.
some dogs, if they show they are aggressive and you arent affraid to just walk past, some will realise you are not a threat.
a dog senses a threat from someone who is either nervous or hostile, im not sure exactly why, but i think its got something to do with the sweat glands on a human having the same scent which the dog picks up.
one basic rule to remember, dogs no more and can see more of what is going on, they are clever.
if you shake hands in a kind way to the owner, or say hello in a nice way, the dog will know you are being nice.
alot of dog owners do not see how clever their dogs are, and the dog becomes frustrated at being told off all the time.
try this; if a dog is barking at you and the owner is shouting shut up, tell the owner to praise the dog if he barks at you and i am almost certain the dog will stop barking and start waggin its tail.
i personally, play it by ear, cos like some dogs (never their fault, its the way theve been brought up) like humans, you can get some nasty sarcastic awkward people.
i hope my post has been of some use to someone.

ParticipantRe: Should have stayed in bed
let me tell you a story i think is funny and i hope it will cheer you all up who have had a bad day, lol
in 1989, i was in the ta when i was self employed repairing and selling reconditioned washing machines.
i had a bedford ce van.
one early sunday frosty morning, i jumped into my van to go to the ta. my van had 6 reconditioned washing machines in, packed tightly, so i didnt tie them down. i had spent all week reconditioning them, with drum bearings etc.
as i was driving fast to the ta centre, i hit a patch of ice, and whey, i was away, hit a post, back doors flew open, and all my washing machines were bouncing along the road.
i eventually came to a stop, taking down a 30ft stretch of high fencing.
i tried to get out, but my door was stuck and the front wing and offside was all damaged.
a policeman came along after a nice lady rang them to tell them what had happened.
i eventualy got unstuck and back on the road, after kicking my wing away from the wheel.
the policeman told me to get the washers off the road, so i did, put them back in the van, he took my details, then i set off to the ta centre.in short;
should of stayed in bed that day. for the sake of queen and country and £25 per day ta wage;
washing machines were scrap
was sent a bill of £250 for the fence repair
good news was, the van i sold after putting dints in for £700 when i purchased it for £300 prior to the dints.
the annoying thing about it was, the gritter wagon appeared when i was in the police car.lesson learned; options
1. stay in bed and stuff the game of playing soldiers
2. strap washing machines in at all times
3. when you go into a fence, make sure no one has saw you and get away as quick as possible
4. if you dont your van, give it a lick of hammerite and sell it for more to make up for your losses.
thats 2 sundays in 20 years, will have to watch what i get upto on a sunday.
maybe i should start going to church instead???torxhead
ParticipantRe: Should have stayed in bed
im new to posting on here, but i know the feeling.
this happened in october last year;
a lady rang me on saturday afternoon about her daughters washing machine not pumping out, ok poss blockage, she is desperate, do it sunday afternoon, plans for going to the beach with the doggy out the window.
told her the usual on the phone; £20 callout and £30 labour = £50 cash and no bouncy cheques which also take a week to clear at the bank when i get the chance to make the 20 mile all round trip to get there!
anyway; rang her sunday morning told the mother (never got the chance to speak to the daughter) ill be there between 12 noon and 3 pm.
after finishing off my paperwork for the week, got in the car 1pm set sat nav to destination; quickest way was by single track roads taking 1 hour to arrive, no signal on phone during journey. (i live in the sticks and calls are long distances between each other and time consuming, hence the charges; petrol at its cheapest in this area being approx 9p per litre dearer than the citys)
got to my destination at 2pm, only to find no answer at the door. by this time i was boiling. i rang the mother on her phone who told me she will be 5 minutes to let me in. as her daughter got sick of waiting in so went off to see her boyfriend. i waited 15 minutes still no mother to let me in the house. i said bollocks to this, im away home. as i was going away out the drive, the mother was coming up the driveway. i said stuff it and i gone home. i felt like sending them my 20 callout bill, but i should of turned around when the mother arrived. or not phoned her and put the bill through the door when i didnt get an answer. better still, sohuld of sayed in bed and took my dog down the beach for 2hrs 30 mins it would of made him happy.
lesson learned; always be aware of someone else booking a call on behalf of a cutomer callout. next time i will want to speak to the spoilt daughter or whoever i am doing the work for.
i hope when they rang my competition on monday morning, they had to wait a week for someone coming out and i hope they got their eyeballs ripped out.
result; 2 hours driving, over bumpy roads, wrecking my car, adding up the miles, burning fuel, and above all, a waste of a day i could of had for myself to spend time with my dog.torxhead

ParticipantRe: servis m70656x cant find the thermostat help please
hi and thanks for your reply. it just stoped working but power light is still illuminated. i have done a parts search on the web and a thermostat came up with my model number search. if you leave it off for a while, the compressor cuts in, but after 5 minutes running, it goes off again.
