Re: how bright should a magnetron be on a microwave?

hi thanks for the reply. yeah, this microwave has been scrambling my brain alright, for a whole week, lol

i used a mirror and hid behind a metal sheet, but i just wondered, if anyone knew the theory, of how bright it should be.

well, just an odd selection would do.
    for example;
    a bosh dishwasher
    a beko auto front loader.

just really so i can do some homework, lol

honestly, its hard work getting back into it when youve had a break from it.
dunno if this is noemal, or if its just me being forgetfull

yeah, if you vote conservative, when you get old and retire, william hague will want to lock us away, lol

    dyson clutch,
i looked at one a few weeks ago, it was taking me ages to get to it, still never got into it, so i put it back togetherand told him £60 ish for the clutch. and said dyson will fix it for £69, to take it to them. i thought, if i bust something getting the clutch out, im not going to make anything.

so, i decided there and then, not to bother with it. the customer was a bit impatient “i want it doen yesterday ” sort, you know.

so it was just hassling me too much, i says ill end up busting something on it. he thanked me for my advice.
cos i told him if theres anything else needs changing on it it may work out cheaper dyson did it.

has the dyson got to be stripped completely to get to the clutch?

    Re: customer wont pay

yeah i know what you mean. i worked like that a few years back. i dont over estimate the job cos i dont want it, or if its too big a job i tell them over the phone.
i get as much info as possible, and even have diagnosed the problem and told the customer to fix it.
to save them my £20 callout for an estimate.
ive been offered money for advice over the phone but have just said tell your friends about me, lol
i have a callout charge no refundable regardless, because i live in the sticks and it doesnt really cover my time, mostly my fuel.
jobs are long distances between each other. unlike the citys.
although i know what cutthroat business it is like in the citys.
if i can work out a price or two over the phone i will, it saves me time and the customer £20.
it also puts off the timewaster who want a free estimate to find out whats wrong and fix it themselves or get joe the neighbour to fix it for £25 when youve told them whats wrong with it.
with me starting up again, im taking longer on jobs cos im a bit rusty, lol
ive spent 2 half days on a sharp commercial microwave, still no further forward.
also ive been to a dishwasher 3 times, and still in the process of finalising that one.
some vacuum cleaners, i just give tell them to take it to the manufacturer, depending on what the problem is.
cable breaks, i do, but a dyson animal clutch etc, it doesnt work out much cheaper me doing it than the manufacturer. and the time also, there too much faffing on for me, lol
i do intend eventually doing more work, but my place is upside down at the mo, and just isnt time to do everything.
ive been there, working and working. and i threw the towel in 10 years ago. one reason was my divorce, but there were many other reasons too. but tbh, if i continued to work 10 years ago when i was going through divorce, i would of been worse off financially, its the crazy system. but thats how it is.
so, i threw the towel in, done dog training, and security services, it allowd me time to get my thoughts together.
i sold my house and lived off the profit. now i rent.
but when reading on here some of the problems people are having and the lengths they are having to go to get court proceddings etc, it makes me realise how rediculous the sysem really is across the board.

its harder to keep on the right side of the fence and it shouldnt be.
for example, when i wasnt working going through my divorce, the outcome was completely different to what it would of been if i still had my shop.
i would of had to pay approx £10000 in court costs if i had my shop, and because i closed it meant i didnt have to pay anything.
it is crazy, 15 years hard graft prior to that, all for nowt.
and if i continued not to work, didnt get married, have kids and let the state pay for them, i wouldnt of paid 1p in maintenance.
but, if you do it the right way, get married have kids, work hard, you get your eyeballs ripped out not just my your ex wife but by the system too.
i think its all wrong, across the board. the guy who was with my ex, never done a days work in his life, got approx 8 kids to 3 different women, gettin owt for nowt and making me feel a t*t when going through my divorce.
mind, i got the last laugh ith him when it was all finished, as they say, what comes round goes round, lol
when i went to the local hospital for a routine checkup, i saw him waiting outside the std gum clinic. that was 6 years ago, and i will never forget the look on his face when i purpsely made him know i saw him by sayimg, “hello” lol
when you get older, you will find time for yourself.
i found i was running around in a vicious circle when i was at full throttle, the more i made, the more my vehicle repairs cost etc.
its not always the case, but for me it was a no win situation.
but i save myself loads of £££ when i do my own vehicle servicing. its well worth taking a day off to change the timing belt myself than to do 4 or so callouts and pay a garage to do it.
brakes cost me £120 if i do it myself, if i got a garage to do it approx £380.

    Re: customer wont pay

    yeah.
i used to do that a few years ago.
ive slowed down alot now, and basically pick and choose if i want the job or not on the phone.
i do other things other than this, and im quite happy really just poddling along.
i just make enough so im living on the breadline, but im happy.

there was a point approx 12 years ago, when i was working at full throttle all the time, good money too.
but alos, i had van breakdowns etc which i had garages fix.
what i do now is, maintain my own vehicles, save ££££`s on garage bills.
and that allow more time for myself.
9 out of 10 of my telephone calls i get the job, but i tend to turn some of them down, depending on circumstances really. if i havent got nowt lined up for the next few days or so i do them.
i also doing alot of work on my house, rather than doing jubs at full throttle and paying someone to work on my house.
so, i get by really. i used to sell new washers etc when i had my shop, and i averaged 3 washer sale per day. but tbh, i worked 12 hour shifts and my vat worked out to be all my profit i made from 5pm till 8pm. so i wound down, i asked myself whats the point.
maybe i wasnt chargin enough then, thats maybe true.
i dont pay for advetising, and much of my work is word of mouth. so i know i choose my customers where i have no probs getting paid.
i guess i must be feeling my age, cos i could be making alot more if i push it.
but i enjoy my time with the dog, and i find everyday i have something to do.
maybe when i get all the other things done, lol i can maybe step up my advertising.
on each large appliance i make approx £50 profit. callout, labour and a bit on parts.
so im happy with that, keeping well out of the vat threshhold, low overheads with my own house and vehicle maintenance, buys me some ciggys and dog biscuits.
living on my own also, and caring for an old relative, so not much time spare for more repairs.
ive also been out of the trade for approx 10 years, and it is harder to start in it again, taking longer on jobs etc.
if i was to get too much work in i may not cope with it all and end up making mistakes, which would mean loosing good customers i have now.

    Re: customer wont pay

    i thought i did.

im pretty sure it was about a washer.!

i must of been thinking of another post, or something.

    anyway; back to post;

ive found this when i started business a few years back and have learned; when giving a price for tumble dryer bearnings, i always tell the customer the worst case scenario, regarding the possiblity of the drum also being on its last legs.
i like to tell them, so they are aware.
i must admit, i learned the hard way, (still ive got alot to learn).

and sometimes when i tell the customer the possiblity of the drum possibly worn, they sometimes just get another tumble dryer, i then let them decide if they want me to do the bearings.
i tell them over the phone before i even get in my van.
if they dont want me to look at it, then that fine by me.
go for walk with dog. 😆

Re: Your opinions on a small claim….

    yes i am tee toatl

    its my bl**dy typing.

i think what to say, when im typing it i forget what i wanted to say exactly, cos my fingers get jumbled up.

no, i didnt have any hard feelings in the previouse post.

the thing is with email contact, is

    there is no expression
    there is no body language.

so it messages can be easily misinterpretated.

i found that on dating sites.

i told a woman i liked playing with my dog alot.

god know what she thought i meant, but i found myself banned from that site the next time i logged in.!!

    i mean, women….bahh

they say mean have dirty minds, a dirty thought didnt come into my mind when i wrote that, but there must of been a dirty thought come into her mind when she read it,

you may think i made that up, but honest, it true !! :rotl:

im on here because ive had a couple of probs with machines. but when i read the posts, i cannot seem to write as much as i want to say.
it is easy to drift off, and it is difficult to have a conversation.
    ie email.

for example, isnt it easier to talk to someone on the phone than it is a two way radio? yes, because on a radio you cannot transmitt and receive at the same time.

regarding the dogs, my other fingers in the other pie i do is help people with the dog problems.
a tip which i wanted to say for anyone regarding dogs.

always listen to what other people want to teach you about them, whether you believe they are right or wrong. because what they tell you maybe be a bit info which comes in usefull at some point. i found that.

im not saying i know it all, far from it, but youd be surprised how many people who have had dogs for years and they “punish them by hitting them, that i know is something with will eventually make the dog misbeavae.

anyway, i will not rabbit on, cos i could go on for hours.
ps dont forget the clocks go forward tonight

Re: Your opinions on a small claim….

i was just trying to make a pint.

its alot of hastle trying to get some money out of someone who hasnt paid.

i mean, at the end of the day, some people are like that, and dont intend to pay when someone has done some work.

the people who do not pay, know fine well it is alot of hastle doing it the civil/correct way, i know, it shouldnt be but thats the way it is.

    its a long winded system.

and what i posted before about getting in in a criminal court, is just something i know which happened to someone a few years ago, when they didnt get paid.

and in fact, he told me it was easier for him to do it that way through the criminal system (he was a labourer and not very bright and couldbarley spell his name never mind filling out a county court form)

    and it worked for him.

the concusion i am trying to pint out is; the system should make it harder for those who do choose the bad way to get their money, and they should make it an easier rount to take doing it the right way.

me personally dont think much of the system, have been let down by it. and for those who can barely write their name, then basically they have to do without their claim.

costs of solicitors etc, generally add up to be more than what the claim is worth.

going on to a personal experience, this may be funny to some, but when i got a really bad customer, something strange happened..

i believe the words, what goes around comes around..

a guy i had problems with 8 years ago.
i ended up going out with his nephews partner, i was seeing her for 2 years in a serious caring relationship.

she then gone back to his nephew.

its strange, cos i didnt know they were related until afterwards, so i mean in my eyes it wasnt malicious, but i think in the non payer eyes he may consider it payback.
if he doesnt, what the hell…
i had a happy 2 years with her, lol
