hi been following the posts.
what is ntc?

ParticipantRe: are magnetrons interchangeable from make to make
hi thanks for that. do you know where i can get a cross reference?
i would of thought that they would fit, if the bolts and terminals are sited in the same place.
if i knew of a cross reference chart it would help.
i see qualtex have magnetrons, but theres little info about it.mine is a 750w x2 = 1500w
and wondered what would happen if i put a universal 850w in place of it.
i just thought id ask if someone has done this before, cos all the microwaves ive had in the past, customer has decided to renew complete appliance.the ones i have to fix now though, cos at least £550 each. cos there commercials. (i know a rip off) but if i can avoid paying £110 from sharp for each magnetron, the customer will have it done and i will get the job.
thanks for reply

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool AKZ146/1X oven control issues.
hi,
you may not need a new board.
take the board out and examine the sloder joints closely under a magnifying glass.
the heat often causes “dry joints” and may have to re solder where they have gone dry.
a hint where to look, if it resondst to moving the wire coneector to the board, its most likely the block connector tracks, try running over them with some solder.
hoep that helps
post back with your resulttorxhead

hi.
can you explain “pump out of circuit” a bit more.do you mean open circuit?

ParticipantRe: microwave buzing/humming confirm suspicions
fao eastlmark moderator.
i have more than one microwave both the same model, both with different issues.
one thread was for one fault i have with micro a
the other thread was for the fault reported with micro b
if you wish, clear/lock the threads, as i have progressed a bit more.
i have started another thread with a different question about microwaves in general.

hi.
if what you see and there isnt a timer knob, i wouldnt take the lass at whirlpool word to be gospel.
sorry i cant tell you about the machine, but sometimes the operators you speak to arent always right.
i would suggest ringing whirlpool again, and hope someone else answers the phone who is more clued up.
if you get a different answer from another person, that may draw your conclusion.

ParticipantRe: microwave buzing/humming confirm suspicions
hi, i appreciate your concerns and info on the inverters.
but i am not new to working with electrical or electronic devices, as i have done since the age of 16 when i gained my city and guilds 224 part one and two.i am aware of the capacitor holding charge which has to be discharged my means of shorting both the terminals with an insulated instrument.
there is nothing wrong with measuring the two wires to the magnetron for voltage, as this is common practice.
this post isnt getting anywhere, i will try a different thread which will help me come to a conclusion. or find some other opinions to confirm my suspicions.
i need to know if magnetrons are interchangeable. because the price of a magnetron for my machine is £110 each and there are two of them.
i am making all the effort to find the fault without guessing and putting new parts on to see if it works.
that sort of procedure is not all that reliable, especially if you have an intermittent fault or a faulty new part.

its funny, im getting all these emails which arent relatiing to my original post, and yet no one has been agble to give me any anwsers which i had hoped for.
a bit dissapointed on this occasion with the response.

hi, well thats new to me.
ive never heard of an invertor microwave, but lets not go into it.thanks for the reply anyway, it helps me think. :rolls:

ParticipantRe: how bright should a magnetron be on a microwave?
hi, thanks for your reply, not the best to help, but at least its a reply and you say you re all ears.
here goes;
after output wattege test it is only pushing out approx 1000w. it is a 1500w microwave,
the customer complained about it not having full power.
the magnetron is reading less than 1 ohm.
and open circuit across termina to body is zero, confirming it is not an electical faultthe voltage to the magnetron is 3v.
from what i understand is that magnetrons wear in time and become weaker.
is this true?
one more question which may help me alot…are magnetrons interchangeable from make to make, provided they physically fit and the wattage output is the same?
t.i.a.

ParticipantRe: microwave only half heat sharp 1500w/r-22at
power output is only 1000w. both magnetrons are working

ParticipantRe: microwave buzing/humming confirm suspicions
how can you tell if it is an inverter machine from the internals? is it the same set up, ie transformer, capacitor, magnetron?

ParticipantRe: how bright should a magnetron be on a microwave?
:rotl:
is it an expensive oven, yes, trade price they cost £550 each. ive got 2 to repair.i suspect the magnetrons are at the end of their life, but at £110 each, its an expensive part to fit if i am guessing.
there is 3v to the magnetron, they both meter ok, i just wondered if they are supposed to glow really bright or not.
