I think one of the best things about this service, is that the customer doesn’t get a number to TXT back. It comes up on their screen as ‘Engineer’ or whatever you tell it to send as!
The other advantage, as Alex mentioned, is the delay feature. Comes in handy for ‘Fit parts’ jobs. Say you can’t get to a job for 4 days. If you rang the customer, and said you’ve got the parts, but can’t get out for 4 days, they’d probably play holy hell (Well, they do in the valleys anyway)! However, you can diarise a visit for 4 days time, send the TXT but tell it to send 3PM the day before, or 3PM 2 days before, whatever, so the customer thinks it’s next day, or 2 days whatever you say!
I like that very much!

Hi Dave,
Look at this site, it’s awesome. Any job I do, if it’s got a mobile, I TXT it rather than call! You can set templates etc so you don’t have to re-write what you want and it gives you delivery reports!
I think this has cut my office phone bill by Β£100 MINIMUM PM easily!
My favourite template is: ‘Could you please call 01443 230895 to discuss your appliance repair. Thank you’
Maybe a little cheeky I know, but it gets them on the phone within minutes, and their life stories are then at their expense π

Personally, I’d say there’s the element if you want to fit it, for Β£Whatever, fill ya boots, then walk.

Bryan sent me the hard drive, but I couldn’t open any of the files. After I’d returned the hard drive, I was informed the software file was on there too. I have to admit not poking around too much, as there was lots of files on there that included his wedding, honeymoon etc so didn’t want to explore it that much!
Why doesn’t the WTA have a stand with the trade stands? That stand can be used for members to approach to ask whatever, and also non members to enquire about joining?

Slowly slowly catchy monkey! Gobsh1tes are the best ones to get!
It’s easy to dismiss him. It’s easy to cast him off as a d1ck that is out to cause trouble. Apologies, but he has got my back up on a number of occasions. My answer is not to beat him, because that’s easy…! I’m going to turn him! End of. Slowly slowly catchy monkey!

I’m going to make it my life mission to get him to part with a Β£70 Cheque. He’s a d1ck, hurt, whatever, but seriously, he’s one we gotta win. And I wanna win him.

In some ways, that’s a good thing! π
The point is, if you spent a day with us locked in a room, I’m sure we’d all leave singing off the same hymn sheet. Some things are better debated face to face and escapes all of the risk of ‘Forum Fights’ due to mis-understandings / mis-readings etc…
Seriously DrDill, if you can spare a day or two, give me a ring, I’ll fill you in on the timings etc, and come join us for the day.
If after that, you still can’t see the benefit of the WTA to its members and see that quite a lot of hard work is being done in the shadows to try make things better in the ‘Long Term’, then I give up and I’ll not try to encourage you to be a part of it again!

Trouble with that is, whoever was recruited to ‘Chair’ the TA in a full time employed roll, he / she IMO wouldn’t have the passion, desire or drive that I know for a FACT that the WTA Council members have. Even if funds were of plenty, and we could afford 100K per year to have someone in such role (Take in to account salary, car, fuel, hotel bills, IT costs etc), we’d need to find a mighty special person that would give it 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} even though it’s his ‘Job’ and it doesn’t directly affect him if the TA make grounds or not.
Personally, I think the handful of us with the help of some pro active members, are doing things just right!
I’ve made no secret to anyone that I’d like to see you as a member, because although things might get mis-understood between us, I think you’d be an asset to have as a member. You’re clearly desperate to see a better future for this trade, and although I might not agree with everything you say, that IMO has to be respected.
I think it’d be a good idea for you to send me or Lawrence a list of objections, ideas and / or solutions to issues so as Lawrence said, we can take what you say in to consideration next week whilst all together, and reply to everything in one hit. Or if you fancy hopping on a plane, come and join us for the day!

As Lawrence has a broken hand, he’s asked me via telephone to post the following to Aqua, and I echo it…
Thanks for all your help, please don’t feel dis heartened etc, the Qualtex thing is progressing, and that’s down to you initially so all’s good there…
We’ll put your seat up for election in Feb, and please be assured Steve, that no reasons for your stand down will be given to anyone…
Hope all works out and no doubt we will keep in touch and see eachother in the near future.

BlockedRe: WTA OFT Degs report
I’m going to jump in here and ask DrDill to call me when you have 5 mins.
DrDill… You have my mobile number, instead of typing stuff that can be mis-interpreted or mis-read etc, ring me, ask me why you can’t see the OFT Report and I’ll give you an honest answer. Simples!
I personally hate seeing threads like this. It’s just pointless. DrDill, the WTA are trying to improve things for OUR trade, END OF. We are NOT a ‘Cartel’, we invited WTA members to comment or give their opinions to the OFT, and I decided to open that invite up to the general trade, as we’re all the same, regardless of TA membership.
We ALL want / need Tech info from manufacturers to keep trading and expand our businesses, we’re in the same boat DrDill, like it or lump it.
I’d appreciate a call when you have 5, so we can actually talk, rather than keep getting misunderstood.
Ade.
