    Re: Email addresses

Thank you to those that have emailed me already, but to the rest, please email me with your email address, as it’s vital we have an accurate & easy way of contacting all WTA Members should we need to apart from using the forum, which is only read occasionally, by some / most members.

Things like the DEG Review and OFT Approval, generate replies that we’d like to share, openly with WTA Members, so guys…

Email: adrian.welke@whitegoodstradeassociation.org with your company name in the subject field, that’s it!

Your email address will NOT be given out to anyone, this information is for WTA use only.

Either way, I’m sure the owner of the van is pleased it’s gone, I mean… Come on like! Driving around with a screwdriver on your roof….?! It’s one of the most hideous things I’ve ever seen!

Well I’ve jacked it for the day! Locked up like everyone else and walked home! Snow is coming down really heavy again, so much that all the ‘Track’ marks on the road that were there this morning, is now covered with a fresh towel of snow again. Got to be about a foot deep in my estate… The bottom half of my jeans have frozen because of walking through it ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I don’t have any faith in getting the vans out for a couple of days minimum ๐Ÿ™

3.30 departure…? Sorry Lawrence, but you’re on your own! I’ll be back in Cardiff by then ๐Ÿ™‚

Stephen… Please hold back! How many people, seriously will bring multimeters etc to get calibrated? I think meter calibration is a floppy turnout IMO, BUT, we can talk about that in Jan? Until then, say no more ๐Ÿ™‚

If Stephen wants to leave early enough, we could aim to get to Glasgow Airport for 2 maybe if you wanna hang about and have a coffee there?

What time is your flight leaving Glasgow Saturday? If early, we can run you back too?

Ok, what I don’t want to do is ‘Hold people up’ as my call will be out of the blue & they could be under a dishwasher or summit (As Lawrence has experienced from me a few times ), so…

    1… Intro: Blah blah blah.

    2… Check web listing.

3… Have you read what’s happening with the OFT investigation and have you any comments you’d like to put forward.

    4… Feb meeting.

5… Any feedback for us & Goodbye.

Should be short & sweet, doesn’t tie people up & I suspect most will like a call from someone at the WTA?!

Re: WTA Council Meeting January 2011

When you’re booking the Fenwick, ring them on the above number and quote my name for the small discount.

I’ll be booking today, for the Thursday night & Friday night, means I’m up fresh ready for Friday.

Stephen, can we hold off until the Jan get together regarding inviting Companies? That’s one of the things we have to sort, is the agenda. With extra time needed for presentations (DEG issue etc), we need to make sure we invite only the most needed / beneficial companies to avoid people turning up and not having time to present etc.

Regarding meetings, I’m assuming Ian is still the man for bombarding Companies with delegate invites, so that’s that sorted.

How’s about we ‘appoint’ a ‘Meeting Co-Ordinator’, that is responsible for collating a delegate list, that can be updated as and when people confirm attendance, and inviting and arranging trade suppliers, and other companies that want to attend in a ‘Non-Deligate’ position, i.e promote themselves or sell stuff! That way, we could be in a position the night before the meeting, to know EXACTLY who is coming, and give or take a couple, know EXACTLY how many people are attending.

Even if we contact everyone with an ‘Official’ invite, stating a cut off for confirmations by Sunday 20th February if you get me?

I’ll be asking every WTA member if they’re interested in attending anyway when I ring them all ๐Ÿ™‚

    Just a thought

    Ok, where to stay…

Spoke to Lawrence, the choices are The Park & The Fenwick.

    A room for 2 nights B&B for 27th & 28th of Jan are:

    The Fenwick: ยฃ50
    The Park: ยฃ60

Both myself & Lawrence are happy with the Fenwick, it’s better for ‘Chilling out’ in the evening, and has a buffet style breakfast. Also, the evening meals (Which will be paid for by the WTA) will be cheaper than The Park, so saves the WTA money too.

Can we all agree on where to stay, then just ring and book your room ๐Ÿ™‚

    The Fenwick: 01560 600478
    The Park: 01563 545999

Re: WTA Council Meeting January 2011

    I’ve been thinking about this…

Charging non members is a definite at some point, as other TA’s do. But while the WTA is still in nappies so to speak, the meetings should be free to anyone IMO. After all, who is going to take time off work, drive ‘X’ Miles, just for a free lunch? It would cost them more to get there than what a 5 course would cost in their local restaurant?! So anyone that attends, has a genuine interest in the WTA and our trade.

If budget is the issue, maybe drop the coffees at 10.30 & 15.30? Have ‘Free Break’ instead? I.E Bugger off for 20mins, be seated at ‘X’ time! I’m only thinking out loud here as last September, I herd the tune of ยฃ5K being mentioned per meeting. That 2x Per year, is more than we have, even with sponsors. Even before we start to re-claim fuel expenses etc for WTA Council meetings, which no one has done so far, but as this grows and meets are more frequent, will inevitably happen.

Lunch, just do sandwiches, tea & coffee! No one is there for the food, so f**k it!

    That’ll probably save a grand…?

For now, I say free to all, when we get the OFT Logo, then we can start charging non members to attend, as well as put the membership fee up by a touch! ยฃ70 per year, for OFT badge, is too cheep.

Sorry for bluntness, it’s my opinion!
