ParticipantRe: SMEG fridge door hinge
Got it! The two sets of screws, one that went into the fridge cabinet, the other into the door, seemed identical but on further inspection – the head on one set is a small amount thicker.
I then realised the screws were mixed up so the thicker ones that were fixed to the cabinet needed to be the thinner ones are the hinge wouldnt sit flat and didn’t shut. Once I’d changed that, all works fine.
Thanks for getting back to me though!

I just want some things to try and I can’t think of anything else to do. I’ve never done this before but I need this fixed ASAP as I’m trying to sell the house and a broken fridge door doesn’t look good!
Anyone else got any ideas on things I could try??

They don’t seem to sit flat, even without the door there. Is that they way they should be?

Can you see any adjustment?

The door isn’t hitting anything. It makes a small difference if I loosen the screws holding it to the main part of fridge and/or the door. But doesn’t seem to fix it.
Have I fitted it wrong somehow? Are the screws not supposed to be fully tightened or something? I’m baffled.

Got new hinges. Hung on door etc. Seemingly nice and easy.
But now why doesn’t the door close? It almost closes but doesn’t stay shut like it used to.
HELP!?wallofbeans
ParticipantRe: SMEG fridge door hinge
Dave found me a better option. The exact same hinge is listed as an AEG part and is cheaper at £28.80. Thanks all!

You’ll understand why that’s bad when you see the price.
After you recover from the shock, drop an email to Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk who may be able to suggest a much less expensive option. 😉

Ouch. That’s a “I might as well buy a new fridge” price! Especially when other hinges come as cheaply as £30 a pair.
Fingers crossed there’s a third party version that will do the job. I’ll email Dave now.
Thanks for the help!

For the integrated larder fridge I would look at BSH group Bosch, Neff or Siemens very well made machines. Slightly less in budget the Gorenje RIU6154W with it`s five year warranty is a good buy.
There are plenty of Smeg single ovens to choose from. I would probably decide first which cooking functions are required before sifting through the vast number of models. Again as an alternative Neff are worth taking a peek at.
HTH 🙂

Thanks Don. Helps a huge amount, thanks!
So, how do I know if these are going to fit in the space or not? And any advice on where to buy?
We’re planning on moving in not too long so these need to be snazzy enough to sell the house but dont need to last us forever as we’ll not be here and the new owners might well change everything anyway…
Thanks again.

ParticipantRe: BOSCH CLASSIXX 1000 EXPRESS query
i was just hoping it would be something that happens all the time and i could tighten a screw or fix a loose pipe… and that me posting the fact that the drip is on the far right side at the front would signal that a specific part was at fault (or at least cancel some out) and suggest possibilities…
the powder goes in on the left so i thought the clear water coming from the far right might signal something…
im assuming a hole means something will need replacing and that’s beyond my DIY skills… i might well have a look inside and see if its obvious where the problem is once i can see the workings.. otherwise, i guess i will have to call in an expert…
frustrating though coz money is tight right now and i was hoping i could sort this out myself…
thanks for the help…

ParticipantRe: BOSCH CLASSIXX 1000 EXPRESS query
okay – i just put a wash on and watched.. i wasnt completely sure when the water leaked, i just hadnt spotted it while the machine was on and i think it takes a while to make its way forward so i see it infront of the machine…
it was only a couple of mins in when water appeared on the floor below the machine.. it seems to be a very slow drip landing on the floor under the machine, near the front right hand side…
sorry for any wrong info… does this signal any obvious problems?

i thought the “Bosch Classixx 1000 Express” i put in the title was the model number..?
if that’s not it, where might it be written on the machine?

ParticipantRe: BOSCH CLASSIXX 1000 EXPRESS query
ive checked the hoses and all seems to be good. there’s no sign of water around them either and the pool of water seems to be gathering underneath the machine nearer the middle or towards the front…
where would the filter be and how do i check it is in tight?
