ParticipantRe: WF741 pumping out in 3s bursts
It’s a WT741, not WF741. But aside from this, I put the board back in, checked the hoses again. Tried it and it worked fine. Bit of a mystery that one…

QER didn’t find any fault with the board when they tried it on a machine, pump was continuous, so I got them to send it back to me. Going back to this machine tomorrow, I suspect it’s something else

ParticipantRe: Callout charges
Thanks for your views on this and sorry to resurface only now.
My view is that the definition of a callout charge by the CAP is clearly not suited to the work of a domestic appliance engineer.
It seems odd to me that a callout should include diagnostic work in the first place anyway…But as this is the CAP ruling, we have to abide by it.
And therefore I cannot claim, as most of my local engineers do, that I don’t charge a callout. This word puts off a lot of people, because they think you charge them for doing nothing, and that’s why “no callout” appears on ads. I would bet my bottom dollar, though, that they don’t go round diagnosing washing machine problems all day long for no money!!

Thanks for the suggestions. About the breather, I take it you mean on the hose somewhere and that there might be a blockage?
