ParticipantRe: Would you buy Remploy
Well as yet i have a shop and still do recons.I have been there 9 years and can still sell hp wm and wma machines for 120-140 pounds with 3 month or 6 month guarantee option.Argos and big w up the road sell new at 165 pounds.
However ,this is the limit,I am now worried that if these come down more in price i am finished.I cant compete on new prices, even buying from d.a.d.New cookers are being sold in local hardware store for 135 pounds, washers 165 pounds.I have c&guilds in domestic appliance repairs and but who wants an hotpoint engineer. Also qualified to repair refrigeration but these are very hard to get hold of now.waters

ParticipantRe: Qualtex Increase Staff
Have i got it right that qualtex are opening direct accounts to trade, because when i enquired ,about 6 months ago ,i was told i had to order through a distributor. If so ,what are the prices like ,do you get prices on the amount orderd, and how do they compare with buying through a distributor. Also what are prices like on finished goods.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint condenser
the part number you gave is for vtd,not ctd.the kit for my part number says replaces drum support wheels. How does it replace. Is there fitting instructions. Thanks

ParticipantRe: hotpoint condenser
Thanks, will this solve the problem of drum hiting the back. This dryer i have the problem with comes off one of the front wheels,so the drum slightly twists, causing it to rub on the back panel. It only just sits on front wheels, and allways has done ,by the marks on the wheels. It will not go forward enough to sit fully on wheels.,so slips, causing slight twist.Very weak cabinet support.

ParticipantRe: public liability
Finally after talking to loads of brokers and insurance companies and being refused by them all ,assure have got around the problem.I have had to take out a public liability insurance ,to cover for repairs and installation at customers premises, and another policy for retailing and the shop .This second policy covers me for public and product liability,This has been the hard one to get ,because they dont like giveing public and product liability on none new machines. Those that will, then only insure a shop for retail and not repairs, but i do both.Or ,shop and domestic appliance repairs, and not products. They got around this by 2 policies, but i now pay a high price.Ive been insured by axa in the past, but had not insured the shop premises because landlord had for the building, but spoke to axa ,and now they know i sell appliances from a shop they refused me too.

ParticipantRe: public liability
Ihave found mma cheapest for public liability for repairs.I still dont like the possibility of selling a machine and it causing damage,ie faulty water valve.12 years and never happened, but what if.

ParticipantRe: public liability
Just have to hope none of my recon machines ever fail, causing damage.Been declined by all insurers now.Have had to settle for public liability to cover for repairs i do on customer machines and seperate shop insurance

ParticipantRe: public liability
Spoke to insurance companies this morning.Because i rent a shop i am not covered.Public liability on its own does not cover me for machines i recon and sell ,and is not allowed.Shop insurance is a requirement to cover public and product liability and is the minimum requirement. This applies to anyone who rents a shop.

ParticipantRe: public liability
I would also like to know if public liability is enough.I recon washers in a shop, and sell to the public. If a situation arose that i sold a machine that was installed and leaked, causing damage to property, would public liability cover me ,or do i also need product liability.I have had public liability since i started tradeing, but the more i look into it the more i think it is not enough.
Hope someone can clarify.waters
ParticipantRe: public liability
Not if you work from a shop and you want to combine shop front, which is required if you rent a shop
