Yes, 2 years including the 1st.
In fact this machine was free to me as the extended warranty I had on my previous one replaced the machine at almost 5 years when it packed up, so I have good experence with them to be honest. Previous and this warran provided by Domestic and General through Hotpoint.

It is only 6 months old and is also on extended warranty which covers accidental damage ncluding crap in the pump. Only £70 for 2 years if I recall so not too bad, and cheaper than the callout charge.

Engineer booked. Will see what he says next week.
Annoyingly they told me they now only offer all day appointments, so I have to be in between 8am and 6pm, which is poor to be honest. Especially since you used to be able to choose first, am, pm or anytime. They will text before but it might literally be before so I can’t even go out!
Why do companies still think it’s acceptable to make people waste whole days. And to change from a user friendly system to this is ridiculous.

Thanks
Might give Hotpoint a call and get an engineer booked.
Wouldn’t something in the pump make the noise when the pump is running during the dry cycle as well?
WDK8990
ParticipantDone another load of washing today so stood and listened to it.
Noise starts I would say at about 800rpm and gets louder to full speed 1600rpm. On slowing down noise is evident until maybe around 200rpm.
Doesn’t seem as loud today though as it did yesterday and still silent during washing. Not tried drying yet.
WDK8990
ParticipantInteresting you should say door seal as I thought the squeel as it slowed was comig from the front. How would door seal cause the squeel though?

ParticipantGot them coming in a week so will report back then. Am I within my rights to demand a new machine rather than a drum replacement after only 3 months if that is indeed the problem?
I don’t trust their engineers after the work on my last machine and wouldn’t trust the machine after a major strip down.
I know there are good and bad engineers but I certainly seem to have ben sent the bad ones every time!

Still squeeling!
No rattling or odd noises so don’t think it’s a foreign object. Odd that it started overnight as I would think a dodgy bearing would get slowly worse. Whe. The bearings failed in my last machine it was a grating rough noise rather than a squeel and took months to develop into anything.

ParticipantAfter the debacle with my last machine I swore I would never buy Hotpoint again as long as I lived. The warranty company replaced it for free and insisted it was like for like so I had to have Hotpoint.
It is a WDD960G but without pulling it out of it’s cubby hole I can’t check any other info on the model number.
This started overnight (so to speak). One wash it was normal, next one it was squeeling and now does it all the time on spin. Just put a clean cycle 90C wash on with nothing in to flush the mahine out in case it’s a foreign object.
Tried spinning the drum by hand which sounds fine.
Ou of interest, what is the consequence of a poorly sealed drum?
WDK8990
ParticipantWhat could it be?
I have booked a repair visit so will see. Hope it doesn’t go the same way as my last one which had something wrong every other week almost.
Last one died finally following a bearing replacement that resulted in serious electrical fault that could have killed me. I DO NOT want a repair on something like that again.
WDK8990
ParticipantWith hindsight I made a very poor purchase and will never do it again.
I fell for the big brand and seemingly high price so must be good. Now I know better.
Thanks

ParticipantUnfortunately my utility room is designed with just one machine in mind so I have to buy a washer/dryer – but yes, I appreciate individual ones would be much better.
On the subject of cost, this heap of junk cost about £450 so I don’t buy into the expensive is best camp.
Last engineer I had out had nothing good to say about the machines and told me to buy LG or Bosch when I asked what he would get.
WDK8990
ParticipantThanks.
This machine has been a joke since U got it. Almost every part has been replaced (many more than once) during it’s life.
Another engineer call tomorrow!
Never again will I buy Hotpoint.
WDK8990
ParticipantThanks for the reply.
I will take the pump out tomorrow and take a look inside. It doesn’t sound like there is something in it though – just sounds sluggish.
Now what I did notice is that the wash/rinse cycle came to an end and within about 2 seconds of End showing on the display, F04 came up and a noise which sounded like thye pump running was there – only stopping when I switched off at the mains.
Does this lead diagnosis down any particular route or still could be anything above?
Machine is under extended warranty – which is good as I have had just about every internal component changed since owning it – so getting an engineer is not a problem, I just wanted to try and fix it myself if it was something simple.
