They are not the only manufacturer going down that route. A certain popular German manufacturer has tomtom work. The contracts basically allow 5 days in 7 and contracted hours are a guide, only the working time directive restricts 48hr average week over 16 week period.
Although the employer needs to think of the impact of upsetting the “face” of the company. Service sells the brand. It all depends what KPI managers look at on any given day…Weirdjam
ParticipantOven facia lettering being removed easily
There are lots of ovens out there without adhered indicators. They tend to be expensive. Fully electronic units that have LCD/LED display units.

Participantgoing rate for a bench engineer / storesman
My wife pays circa £22k for a stores person (he is the only employee in the stock room) and it was hard to find someone he repairs nothing. They also have a service manager whom amongst looking after his engineers provides workshop repairs he earns considerably more. The company is based in Theale and is in medical supplies.
I think 24k is not a bad price depending on experience and volume/turnover.
As has been said to get cheaper you would have to hire inexperienced and train.

ParticipantHotpoint FFA74G Fridge Freezing,Freezer warm
The diverter does function, although i suspect the fridge takes priority over the freezer. If it were low on gas I’d expect the frost pattern on the fridge to be on the high side not all over as it is. The thickening frost would also allow fridge NTC to register a very cold temp (hence the freezing temp) then it would divert to the freezer which is not happening it seems. Hence my NTC or PCB diagnosis. I suspect a duff or out of range NTC is most likely but will check the readings when I next get over there.

ParticipantRe: Whats the strangest fault you have come across?
Lots of mice across terminals. I had a cooker hood where the customer complained of horrible smell, they put up with it until maggots started dripping on to the hob… Local pest place said its dead so they can’t help. Our HQ said its a hazard for us to go. I bit the bullet and removed the hood to find the dead squirrel minus one leg, that was the rattling noise when the fan was on, poor fella.

also there may well be that the carbon filters may be missing from the fridge section which will also cause this problem.
bryan
Not true what carbon filters? this unit has deoderisers that have no effect on the running if the machine, other than that there are no filters.
There has been known to be a few faulty plenheims (the whole big plastic/polystrene bit you removed that holds the fan) dear to replace mind. Or the heaters are not coming on. could be blown thermal fuse i.e heaters got a little too hot. OR faulty heater OR faulty sensors. All can be eliminated by an engineer.

ParticipantRe: samsung mirror finish frdg/frzr ice problem
you need to press and hold down the test button for min 2 sec max 10 secs it should start the ice tray turning if it doesnt its either not connected faulty ice maker or pcb all=contact samsung if it does turn and when it returns water doesnt dispense it could be faulty water valve or faulty pcb all = contact samsung its under guarentee i would imagine
test procedure work irrespective of cabinet temperature

ParticipantRe: Expert Appliance Care
confirmed……
With regret, we have reluctantly decided to no longer progress with forming GTI Appliance Service Ltd. This ifficult decision was taken because the original volumes of service calls we believed we were able to secure was not forthcoming.
The letter does go on thanking for our interest and wishes us well in the future etc etc
Recieved this evening.

get lots of towels put them in the bottom of freezer place a bowl on them and towel round front of appliance, then switch the fridge freezer off(at plug ideally if not then 0 on thermostat control knob) for a good day……or till all ice is gone, note towels will get very very wet so keep ringing them out.
The tube was so you could drain water into a bowl. without it you will just get wet very wet hence towels.Defrosting ideally should be done every 6 months but most people do it every year. 😀

ParticipantRe: car air-con
😯 since when has r600 been used?????I know petrol is flammable but i thought r600 wasn’t allowed in car air con what with being flammable……
i think you’ll find car aircon is r134a, if very unlucky or lucky depending on how you look at it you could have r12 (cfc)
You can regas them quite easily depending on how good your reclaim unit is. Oil is usually replaced so you need to get an oil injector too. The air con rating plate will tell you how much of each to add. I personally would go on a quick course usually one dayers to make sure you get the jest of it but like has been said good sideliner.

ParticipantRe: Samsung Side by Side Refrigerator problem
the loop connector isnt that good as a repair, moulding is not available door is required. But it can be repaired without needing a new door in some cases as its under guarentee phone up samsung the serial number sould say how old it is normally at 18 months old it would have been made near to the purchase date.

ParticipantRe: Kyoto Freezer Failure
😉 leaks in the freezer door circuit as it ages can also be a problem. tis likely to be poorly pumping compressor though as expertcat says.

ParticipantRe: Samsung RL33BNS1 Fridge Freezer Problem
4 lights flashuing (not left one)=baffle motor faulty – Like has been said defrost the whole unit ideally leave doors open and off for 2 days it seems overkill but you cant see the ice….
The baffle motor is the flap that opens and closes to let cold air into the fridge. Leaving the door open draws in warm air which is full of moisture this then freezes.
After defrost will be fine Stollydriver is correct 😀
