Re: How would you deal with a customer like this??

Idiots like him are 10 a penny here!! I would be tempted to tell him that there is no call out charge but there is a labour charge! Tell him your agreed rate (mine is £25 for normal nice ppl for a straight forward repair to freestanding appliances if local or £35 for tossers local or not). If he gets quirky with that – then reccomend the nearest rip off if you have one. When he calls you back to say ok, can you do it then? say yes, but it’s going to be next week now as I have taken 15 calls since our last conversation and im booked solid. Failing that just tell him your not interested as you dont make preferences to any customers and suggest he uses someone else! Complete di*k heads some ppl!!

Re: Can’t split Bosch Washer Tub

Exactly how it happens!! Remove the clips carefully via hacksaw and chissel and the extra screws take up the slack. I got all stressed up about doing one of these but it’s not as bad as it seems! Just take note of the suspention leg mounting to the tub tho.. If ever you need to change a damper it’s gonna be a big job!

Thanks for that Eastlmark. I have the old ones here and I know exactly why you suggest fitting them with the new ones as I found out to my frustration while changing a dosage unit on a whirlpool dishwasher after the o ring kept nudging up and spraying out. I always fit 2 o rings on them now!!
    Cheers Rob.

Re: Zanussi ZWF1437S sealed tub bearing change?

I agree, £85 +vat isnt too bad, but when you add labour, and for a tub swap it needs to be a worth wile labour charge – the machine is still bordering on becoming scrapage. I suppose this is where we have to bite the bullet and rip the old machines apart for their expencive spares like motor and PCB in preperation for a machine with an electrical fault. Looks like we will have to sadly begin to wave away the good old days when we did many WM and WMA bearing jobs and on other machines. The manufactures simply dont want to keep their machines going because they want to keep busy production which I can understand to a degree but the enviromental issues and bad and it’s unfair to the end user and us engineers. I suppose in some cases its reflected on the initial purchase price of the washing machine.

Well thanks for your help on that one guys. It’s as I thought then! Not selling any more electrolux machines after this! Customer just been on the phone. New Bosch getting delivered from me tomorrow.
I kinda expect it from indesit and Hotpoint, but I thought Electrolux had a bit more about them!
