    Re: golocal reactive

We offer a 90 minute service on all appliance repairs in where ever you are, nationwide. Whether you are looking for help with your Washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer or any house hold electrical appliance repair within London or nationwide.

Really ??? …………. Call me cynical but I can’t see that myself.

Re: wanted Baumatic oven selector switch

I have a customer who wants exactly the same part, Baumatic have told her that the manufacturer of the part is no more so the part can be classed as obsolete, apparently they have been out of stock since last November.

Same goes for policy, nothing D&G, everything Go Local. The only thing we have to do is mirror comets opening hours. I’d prefer not to discuss the costs involved.

So what are your rates ?

If you want to drum up interest you’ve got to start giving out some examples, gas cookers for example, washing machines etc etc.

from what I’ve heard today that is exactly what is to happen, 2 man teams on a 7.5 tonne lorry to go deliver install AND do repairs………….. Madness.

Its predictable.

I’ll be shocked if it lasts 2 years, nobody has ever made a national multi-brand, multi appliance network with their own engineers work, and I doubt anybody ever will.

And they’ll need the 7.5 tonne lorry to carry half the spares they will need.

If I needed a job I wouldn’t apply for this job expecting it to be a long term option.

DrDill wrote:Our engineers in their normal day will do repairs and deliver new appliances, and where required install the built in appliance, so delivery/installation/repairs all normal days work for a suitably trained and able engineer, in fact they love fitting say a top of the range Neff oven thats replacing a 2 year old knackard Beko oven, nice job and better profit.
Sadly the next job is probably a Kenwood dishwasher!

    In a 7.5 tonne lorry ?
I have done all of it also, but we are talking a national company here with hundreds of repairs daily, we arent talking just local, it’s just not practical in a vehicle that size.

Everybody that has done the job like we have can see that what they have there is two different jobs :

    Delivery and installation
    +
    Service engineer

These two jobs cannot be done together in a way like what they would want, for a company like Currys to try and combine the two would be absolute madness.

I don’t know where they are going with this but in no way can I see this being any sort of success, in fact I see it being the complete opposite.

I think you need to read through this topic!
In a nutshell they currently sub their work out through repaircare etc, they are now setting up their own network of directly employed engineers and using repaircare as 2nd tier in areas of no cover.
I did read through and I didnt see anywhere where it said “exactly” what they were doing, add that to the fact that nobody has seen any jobs advertised…. NATIONWIDE !!! Then I think it was a perfectly reasonable question to ask.

Just heard 261 to be made redundant and comet will no longer be doing their own repairs according to my source.

My condolences to those that are losing their jobs, who we must think of first at this difficult time.

I have the Bosch 10.8v which is fantastic, what was even better was that I got it in a twin pack which included the 10.8v impact driver too for only £99 from screwfix on offer the other year.

Even later reply, is belling British – no, it is owned by the Irish company gdha.

And as a reply to the post above, belling and new world are owned by the same company but that’s where the link ends, your 17 y/o new world would have been made in a completely different factory to completely different standards.

Re: Stoves Gas Hob GR600 Reignition PCB

Yes the new unit should work exactly as the old one did, there’s no way it could work as he says as the gr does not have an ignition switch, it’s quite a hard job to swap and desire if you don’t know what you are doing, maybe he was just looking for a way out.
