Different factories, different qualities . Did you know that the manufacturer that makes Stoves, Belling and NewWorld is also a element/ heater manufacturer?

http://www.kitchenkitsw.comI don’t want to appear rude Dr Dill but what’s that got to do with the price of fish ?Stoves still use the same elements as they did when Dimplex didn’t own them, dimplex generally have stuff made for them rather than make them themselves, buying an actual manufacturer like they did with stoves is the exception rather than the rule, for example with Belling they only used the name and stuck it on products made for them elsewhere untill the bought stoves and decided to have them built in house.
Wrong wrong wrong! Need to check your facts before spouting nonsense.

http://www.kitchenkitsw.comReally, because I was a technical engineer with them for over 6 years, including at the point where we took over new worlds builds, nearly went bankrupt thanks to the GRF, got took over by Glen Dimplex and then merged with belling, I think you will find my knowledge of the company and it’s appliances far exceeds your own, perhaps you could be more specific about on which points I am wrong ? Oh wait….. I’m not.wsts

Just nosing on the forum and noticed this thread, the simple answer to this question is if there’s no openable window etc to outside air then you refer to building regs…. Full stop.
no, you just dont allow itcant believe you (or anyone) would think its acceptable to allow carbon monoxide to vent into a room where children could possibly be asleep?
the rules are there to protect human life… whether you consider it a safe installation or not, the by-product of all burned gas is carbon monoxide, and that needs to vent outside
quite simply..why would a gas safe engineer train for many years, spend a fortune to be re assessed every 5 years, for some guy from the council to say ‘ ahh, its reet, just shave 10mm off the bottom of that door’?
cos its nonsense
advice is only good if its correct
And mine is, for a start the air flow into the kitchen is NOT for combustion purposes, and it’s not just shaving off the door, you still have to have some sort of ventilation the other side, i.e. as per building regs as you’ve already been told, you might not like it but it doesn’t change the fact of that’s what it is.You do realise that there’s a lot more dangerous things than cookers that rely on internal vents don’t you ?

ParticipantRe: Mercury Range Respray
This cooker would have to be cheap to be worthwhile, licat are stopping supplying parts to AGA in the next two months so dont spend too much.

Two weeks ago a good friend of mine visited a £77000 range cooker, there are plenty of people out there that will pay £1200 without blinking.

Making that money you must be making 50k a year.I’ve been self employed for 7 years now so I’d hope I would have picked up the difference between turnover and profit by now, and it has been over 50 for the last 3 years, as I said though, even if I were only earning the same I’d still be far happier than I ever was as an employed engineer.

ParticipantRe: Beko Employed Engineers?
Not really no, i do installations for kitchen company’s and repair high end cookers, I can easily make over the £440 a week I used to get as an employed engineer in just a few jobs, two repairs alone I have booked in tomorrow will bring in £320, at that I’m not even using my full skill set i.e. I’m not working on fires or boilers at the moment.
Some of the stuff I work on other engineers shy away from, big range cookers etc.

This is NOT a dangerous installation, the ventilation air is NOT for combustion, if a suitable vent is in an adjoining room then one solution according to building regs is to simply shave 10mm off of the bottom of the door seperating the rooms, you would also need a fan extrating 30 l/s too, there are many solutions to this problem, changing to an electric cooker is by far the most extreme.wsts

I never work weekends and can earn more doing 4 jobs than I did doing a whole week employed by a manufacturer.
Self employed v employed is a no contest, self employed every time.

You sold it with the promise of a warranty though as per the paperwork inside the appliance and also no doubt in store, if the manufacturer is not providing you are still stuck with the customer whose only contract is with yourself, if there was no mention of a warranty anywhere only then would your reasoning come into it, though it wouldn’t be good practice.wsts

Phidom wrote:Yes, there are corporate cowboys as well as individual ones. My bank account is also missing over £100 as the result of a con trick. When I moved from Scotland to Hungary I took out European breakdown cover with Green Flag. At the time there was no mention of direct debits, automatic renewal etc, I paid with my Clydesdale bank debit card over the phone. When the paperwork came through the terms and conditions was a 30 page book so I’ve never attempted to read it all, just checked on things I needed to know. What I didn’t see is on page 25 of the book there is a paragraph that says they do automatic renewal and consequently they helped themselves to £103 of my money last month. I don’t even drive that vehicle now as I got a Hungarian registered car.
Just do a DD snatch back with the bank, for them to reclaim the money from you they have to prove that you wanted a second years cover with them, as they wont have a signed contract or anything for this years cover they dont have a leg to stand on, I had to do it with two insurance companies, piece of p***.

ParticipantRe: Sale of goods act ?
As the product is still not hers as there is money still owed on it I believe that it is still the retailers job to repair it, I was listening to a consumer program on the radio the other year and somebody had a similar problem, they were told that the retailer had to give the product a warranty for the duration of the purchase scheme until the ownership had transferred to the customer, if they are being awkward then the customer can approach the lenders whoever they are as they have joint responsibility of the purchase.
I don’t think wear and tear would be an acceptable excuse from the retailer unless proof can be made that the customer constantly overloaded or was using it for commercial purposes.
