kwatt wrote:He can do it on his own property only and not be breaking the law.

Do it for anyone else, paid or not and it’s a breach.

Gas Safe and/or HSE will go after him if he gets caught, probably with gusto as it’s an easy win for them. That’s who he would be reported to as well.

K.Doing gas work on your own property legally is I’m afraid an “old wives tale”, you must be competent to work on gas anywhere, whether that be in your own house or a friends, if your are competent you can in fact work on gas in other peoples homes, Gas safe registration is required only when doing it as part of your business or for reward.

Re: oven diplomat electrical prob g720 cooling fan prob

It is important, they used to have pressure switches but when they moved to the rs2 build they did away with them when a cheaper fan was used, when the fan stops spinning the oven and grill flame goes very sloppy and unstable which of course makes this immediately i.d.

Do not use it while the cooling fan is not operating, not only is it a cooling fan it also supplies combustion air to both the grill and oven burners.

ken, i think specialist was reffering to the pic he posted, as to how the cooker would come out with worktops cut like that

As a rule the four levelling feet have to be raised in order to reach the height of the worktops. Removing the bottom plinth allows access to all four feet. So you have to hope, at least in this crazy situation, there is enough adjustment in order to lower the oven below the overhanging countertops in order to pull it forward sufficient to get round the back! 😉

Not necessarily a “walk away” situation either as worktops can be removed if that’s the only choice. It went in, for Christ sake, so it’s gotta come out! Peace of pi$$ for someone with an ounce of improv skill after all said and done. :rolls:
You would need 40-50mm on those legs , that’s incredibly unlikely for a start.

It went in yes, but that was quite obviously before the worktops……. And tiles which overhang the worktop, plus one of the worktops will have a sink in it.

I must say you would be the most committed appliance repair person I had ever heard of if you were prepared to remove the bottom row of tiles, worktop with sink and all related plumbing then the other worktop just to repair the cooker, I would estimate that at 1-2 days work for a pro kitchen fitter.

The main question that needs answering here though is……..

    Why didn’t they just buy a 90cm range ?

Everybody I know with a merc van has massive rust problems, plus most you see are rusting relatively early for their age, I’d go for a transit especially with the new shape just out, there’s bargains to be had.

Since 98 times more people die a yr should we start banning pen tops.

however they did not die by using the pen in the normal and recommended way.

Unlike a Drier, fridge and Cooker that was being used in the normal and recommended way.
To be fair to beko the cookers were not being used in the normal and recommended way, that said, the grill should still have cut out rather than carry on working causing the incidents it did.

    Re: Belling Gas Range

Is it the one with the storage compartment running all the way across the bottom? If so then I believe the manufacturer is Bitech, unfortunately though that’s a GDHA company, so if you can’t get it through them then your unlikely to be able to get it unless somebody happens to have old stock.

It’s all relative. Is anything as well made now as 25 years ago?
Even with all things being relative I still wouldn’t call their gas oven (or any of their products) excellent quality.

And yes there are plenty of products out there that are better than 25 years ago, just look at the stuff coming out of the Rangemaster factory for a start, 25 years ago the Flavel/leisure stuff coming out of it was below average at best.

    😆 you know so little it’s a joke 😆

The stoves factory was making stuff with the belling brand on it before I left which was 7 years ago, and belling merged with stoves just a few months after the takeover, either that or I imagined the meetings I went to :rolls:

Why would you argue with someone who was there and active when it happened when you quite obviously don’t have a clue  4 years ago indeed

On the contrary I paid a hell of a lot of notice, you had to and everybody knew everything what was going off plus engineers were in regular contact with R+D due to the GRF and GTF problems, plus I’m still in contact with several engineers so haven’t lost touch, not elaborating yourself simply means you don’t have a comeback.
