Perhaps some people should stop digging when they get up to the neck.Easy guys lets not get too personal here. Mike has made his point and I’ve also tried to show the frailties that within the whitegoods business the problem is, for the most part endemic, throughout. Fact!
Fact to a point where I feel that personally, and professionally, I simply could give a stuff quite frankly. That those that wish to spend their day farting about with a multimeter rather than a megger or those that know better and have the knowledge and correct gear to do something with it don’t bother the use of it….so what? Who gives a stuff?
But nevertheless in spite of that I’m still up for explaining to those that wish to know, how, why and what the point of a megger is.
By the way, Engineers & DIY’s that get electrocuted?….very sad but fuff all to do with using a now megger is it…really? Far better to start a poll on how many engineers have been electrocuted using a megger eh? :rolls:
By the by, have you sorted that Candy Dishwasher adv? 8) nope gave up

Nice 1, My Nephew asked a question regarding loop testing a while back but sadly had no replies (Trying to get him to look for answers to things on his own, rather than spoon feed him the info) so I ended up having to tell him.
Keep up the good work mate: Andy

Better make it good, Martin. We’ll be safety testing your information before and after reading. 😀
Mike.
PS, I thoroughly agree with what you say about Trading Standards. They got no teeth anyway, considering what shoddy stuff gets sold. Mostly just jobsworths.

The publication is complete and ready for your scrutiny Mike. I’ve read it through a few times since putting pen to paper and I think it’s safe enough for you to read TBH. 😀
The section on Loop Testing falls a bit short (pardon the pun :)) but I’m sure you can forgive me at this stage. The theme being basic testing which is a contradiction in terms regarding the full and proper use of loop test equipment. That subject needs far greater explanation to do it justice. I may make time to cover it fully at some future stage.
If anyone would like a copy then do please email me at my email address below (just click the icon marked email below). It’s a 1meg file in.pdf format by the way.

I think its because you hold a Hotmail account adv. I’ve had several guys asking for copies of the pdf with Hotmail accounts and they have all bounced back as yours did!:(

I’m afraid to say the answer to that for the most part is yes they do have to be removed and disconnected.
