What’s going on, who the hell knows? The goalposts seem to be shifting every few hours.
However I can confirm that Malcolm Knowles is working for the new business and there was no indication that the new company was in liquidation last night not long after 5pm.

been away so keeping a eye on this from sporadic wi fi points. Can anyone confirm if we can invoice D&G for those mfi jobs covered by their warranty? I am not a D&G agent so would be appreciated if someone could let me know the name of a contact within D&G I should speak to.
One big surprise on my return was a few cheques from AIG, assuming they clear, as they will have cleared their account with me, right up to date. AIG, for so long the rogue has now become the only part of the MFI debacle to have cleared their debt, with me at least. Now begs the question, should I take on any MFI/AIG jobs given they are invoiced directly?
Also now have my MFI spares statement which is showing Septembers (oh, how I wish I took them up on their 60 day credit terms now!) invoices and one dated 4th October. Assuming I do not pay this but continue to do the odd MFI chargeable or othewise, will they put my spares account on stop when they are now a new company as from the date of administration as they keep telling us? I do not owe MFI Group a penny.October 22, 2008 at 7:56 pm #105767Alex

D&G will not be interested in any calls that are in year 1. If the jobs relate to insured products beyond 12 months, no problem. Just invoice the insurers direct at the MFI rate, and as long as you have insurance policy details and the name & address agree, no problem. If you are not a D&G agent, and you have the odd D&G call, speak to Maria Abbott at D&G and she will see if they have paid MFI, if not she may agree to pay you as a temporary agent.
Fortunately I have always billed all insurers direct, which in effect has reduced the laibility.
As you say AIG has come out smelling of roses, they too settled with me in full this week, and they signed the cheque. However in ALL cases now with insurance, I am not continuing MFI calls, I want them to be swamped with the insured customers to deal with as well.
This week we have been doing calls on a pay & claim basis for those that want it, but to be honest we have encouraged the customers to go back to MFI.
Regards payments due to them, I was on 60 days, and I last paid on the 12th August up to 13th July, just as well as I’d got the vibes from this site, and slowed things down on purpose.
I will not entertain an MFI call under any circumstances as once bitten, twice shy. I have no intention of adding to the debt, and it will increase, or this will happen again in a few weeks/months.
I have cut my losses.

I was talking to an ANS boy today, you know one of the old Expert guys who went alone and took on with others the MFI refrigeration work.
He has already written off the debt prior to 1st October, but has been told by that despite new contracts and TOC’s that have failed to be issued; “Please be assured there will be no problem with settlement from the new administration”.
He did give me a name of the guy who has passed on these assurances, begins with an “I” and was management in the old Expert regime, and another infamous operation prior to that. Need I say more?
He is convinced that all is fine & dandy, and he will be able to claw everything back in the future as he has had all these assurances. His problem is, he has lost Samsung, lost Lec and all he has left regards agency work is this lot. He really believes this is the only way forward.
I’ve suggested to him it will end in tears.

I gave Ridler my terms to go back and work with them ,his response was “no way” so I have parted company with them .
Shame really ,but I am afraid I just do not trust the head honcho at MFI or Mark Ridler himself anymore .
On another note I was talkng to an ANS engineer myself who told me they are going back under the old terms with the promise of a review sometime ….
There rate is a staggering £37 per call plus sundries ,He was a bit shocked when I told him that insurance companies pay me more than that for inspections.
I think that a lot of them are so desperate for work that they will take anything as they don’t feel they have any other choice.

Add to this that they have told D&G (on Friday) that their network is intact and they are back in business. Must be all the Ex EA guys taking all the work cos it looks like no one else has got it 🙂

I spoke to my local engineer, when I say local he is more than 60 miles away from me .
He was saying that he is there only Corgi engineer for Essex,Suffolk,Norfolk and Cambridgeshire 😯 so he is doing a lot of miles at the moment.
I think Mark Ridler is trying to regain some credibility with the likes of D&G at the moment, hence him telling them he is sorted ,he is also sending there own engineers all over the place.Lawrence

Simon Ibbotson it seems may not have fully put the ANS boys in the picture.
They have not seen the letters as sent out by Kroll according to my source. Also the school of thought is that ANS are still responsible for settlement of the spares account prior to 1st October. All parts were ordered via ANS and the engineers were only paid £37 per call. The guy I spoke to was horrified to learn we had £43.
They have been asked to continue, and a lot of them have said no as they need a new contract etc.
Now they have no fridge coverage in a lot of areas, and to cap it all they tried to pass us a call today, I don’t know what part of “EFF OFF you owe me money” they don’t understand.

What a god awful mess. I hear that some of the other big manufacturers are concerned that may not have a network if too many of our lads go down. And still they want us to work for nowt :rolls:

Hi Alex,
Have you got an email address/telephone number for Maria, I just looked and have 10 MFI D&G jobs and want to see if she will pay before I start chasing customers.

John – Shes on holiday till next week you will have to speak to Lindsey.
Had a chat with Mark Ridler and its quite apparent that they do not feel any obligation to sort out payments for the old company. He is only interested in being able to source new appliances and spares that go with them. Seems he is happy for us to continue under the old/new terms and conditions and nothing much else. I think he may be alittle short of tail-feathers 😆 On the other side I am told that ANS has told him that if their money is not in the bank by tomorrow they will pull the plug too
