Why do they buy a £199 machine from Slurrys, then when it goes wrong in eighteen months (it was one of the better ones), complain when it can’t be fixed for less than £100 saying that its too much ‘cos you can get one in B&Q for £189’ 🙄

You’ve just told the customer you can repair their 5 y.o. Hotpoint right away at the unbelievably reasonable price of £X.
“OK”, he says, “we’ll go for that!”Why then does he(usually the bloke, as the woman’s busy cleaning, cooking or parenting) then begin to chime on about how “machines are only made to last 5 years these days, aren’t they?” And, of course, the inevitable, “What’s the best machine to buy……?”
(Thinks: “I’m just fixing this one you pratt. So you’re probably not going to be in the market for a new one for some time yet. So why have I got to roll out my accumulated wisdom for your delectation when you’re nowhere near the point where you’re going to need it?”)
OK that’s not the MOST annoying thing they do but it is the most common.

Customer phones up, AEG Dishwasher in guarantee. Complaint of crack in door.
I happen to stumble on the call, as it was in for parts to be ordered prior to visit. I check with the girls in the call booking office and make the obvious query, “How can it be cracked, this is a steel door”? The girl who took the call said, “Oh the customer is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} convinced it is the door, as it is cracked from top to bottom, I told her it is a metal one, but the customer was adamant, and in fact got quite rude”.
So, we phone the customer back just to be sure, who still tells us that it is a plastic door, and sure enough the plastic is cracked right the way down. I’m having none of it, so I ordered the plastic fascia panel. Sent the engineer there with the fascia a few days later and thought that was it. The call was over 40 miles away.
Wait for it……..
Engineer phones from site……….
Can I order a part please………
Yeah?? what do you need?………..
A SOAP DISPENSER, the door is cracked where she puts the powder…….

Our own booking office within this building.
One of the lasses took the call, and sensibly passed it through to the spares dept for a pre-order of parts to save calling empty handed. I picked it up as I was passing, and thought I would prevent someone ordering and taking the white outer door of a D/Washer that we didn’t need.
The annoyance was we took as many steps as possible to get it right, including querying with the customer on 2 phone calls that the door on the D/Washer is a steel one; and surely this cannot be cracked. She was most insistant that her door was plastic, and actually suggested we didn’t know what we were doing.
Well, life would have been a lot easier if she told us it was the dispenser door.
Another famous one we get is Hinges on an oven door, we know full well that they mean the siliconed brackets are unstuck, will they accept that?… NO! They insist it is hinges, then when we turn up with no outer door but 2 hinges, they then tell the engineer, “Oh but I did tell them it was the door”.
How about this one then, engineer today spent an age trying to find out why a D/Washer module had blown to bits. There was evidence of water had got into the base, yet he could not find where and how. After checking it all over, and saying to the customer that the water was a mystery, the customer’s friend piped up, “Do you think you ought to tell him about all the foam pouring out after trying washing up liquid?”
Don’t you just love em!!

Customer rings Friday, 4pm. Servis 2 y.old. Not turning drum. Wants an idea if worth fixing. I say, “definitely worth a look, can be pretty sure to fix that easily enough.Be round your way on Monday anyway.” (Thinks: “don’t forget soldering iron for burnt relay connection”). Appointment made for Monday 1pm.
9.15am. Monday. Customer rings. “We no longer need you, we went out and bought a new one over the weekend.”
Grrrrrrr! 😡

At least they told you in advance. It’s even worse when you turn up at the appointed time to find no one in, the old appliance outside the back door and on peering through the window, a nice shiney new one istalled.
Bless em!Dave

Hi all
Most annoying thing are customers who don’t listen.
A few year ago while working for Zanussi before Service Farce went to a fridge freezer in the village I lived in at the time on the Friday night. Customer complained light staying on. As there as a mod for actuator and stick on strips to fill gap in seal told customer would order part and return when recieved. Removed bulb and left. After night out on the Saturday arrived home Sunday morning a little rough, to be met on door step by said customer to tel me he had put a torch inside and could still see light. How I stayed calm I don’t know.Great site by the way
Cheers

When they won’t get off the phone when youv’e told them in no uncertain terms that you have the flu and feel like s**t and would they please ring back in a couple of days. 👿 👿
Or the ones who say ‘I’ll get back to you’ rather than ‘Sorry your’e speaking to a pikey git here and I’d like you to come round and work for nothing’ 😈 😈
Flu….make me grumpy….no way 😡

Pocket-patters ,youve just unblocked the pump and presented them with the bill. They pat their pockets and say they have no cash or their wife/husband has the chequebook, no point in leaving a bill as they wont pay it, so you have to call back. The bad part about this is youve got to get the money or else they tell their friends how to get a free repair.

One thing that drives me to distraction is customers that repeat the last 2 or 3 words of every sentence you say. They stand, staring at you, clasping their hands tightly and the conversation goes:
“So, is it all fixed?”
” Oh,yes, I’ve cleaned the filter, now it should pump out properly”
“Pump out properly, yes”
” The filter needs to be checked about…..”
” filter yes, checked”
“….once a month to prevent it blocking completely again”
“Month blocking completely blocked again completely,…..yes”
“If you can keep it clean…”
“Clean,keep it clean…”
“….you won’t have any more problems like today’s”
“Problems, yes, today’s problems….today…yes….oh, good, yes, good.”Then they say, “Could you just show me that again, dear?” 😯
Is there an echo in here or is it too much exposure to Debor glue? 😆 😆

You want to get your money and be off to next job/home but customer won’t get wallet out until they have seen that the machine will indeed spin now that you have unblocked the filter and let the machine drain.
With a modern electronic machine this could be 10/15 minutes.
How do you get round this?
