it seems i have touched on a raw nerve here with the whole “women engineers are useless”. just my opinion, cos i cant see how a women is going to cope with the physical demands of this job when pulling heavy applainces about and what do they do when a tumble dryer sits on top of the washing machine they need to repair and nobody is able to assist in lifting it down??

We had a young lady come to work for us and at the interview she was told that “all engineer’s do bearing / tub changes” her reply was yes no problem.
First time she had a tub change on a Hotpoint did nothing but bitch about it and when she was given a Bosch tub change with the weight in the rear half god did everyone know about it.
In the end she left before she was sacked so I agree when the job requires heavy lifting generally most women are unable to lift the weights involved.

the company I work for employs a few lady engineers and tbh they put quite a few of their male work colleagues to shame.
no problems at all about tub changes they just get on with it and their quality figures are second only to mine…………………but then I am godlike 😆 😆 😆

:rotl: Just had a customer walk through the door expecting us to tell her what is wrong with her dyson ,so her husband can do it.
And i quote ‘I don’t think he will be too happy getting charged £23.50 just to unblock it when he can do that sort of thing himself’!!!
Needless to say the dyson was not left to repair, people seem to be getting cheekier and bolder with their actions.

Went to a chavvy customer last week, Bosch Classix door handle broken.
When I said I’d have to order it and possible cost she wanted me to do it. When asked for a parts deposit she said had no money but could I just take the door off then so she could clean it 😯 . This was after she’d told me that she would take the door uptown :con: to buy ahandle for it.When I questioned her on whether I looked like I’d just stepped off the boat she asked me if I’d show her how to do it, again I declined.
She then tried again…what will I need to take it off then.
At which point I’d had enough, politeness and patience went skyward.
A fri***n’ big ‘ammer.
Yup, slammed the door on’t way out too.
She managed all this without moving from her slouch, sat on the bottom step of the stairs, smoking at me.Customers 👿 …..well some.

I had one last Friday. Customer rang during the day while I was out. She spoke to my wife and asked if I would come out and have a look at her WM as it was not spinning. Customer asked if callout and inspection was free….er no…My wife explained that I do not do free callout and inspections…customer wasn’t happy…wanted to speak to me when I came back in. As requested, called her and explained I’m not doing a 25 mile round trip for nothing….. I then got a mouthful of verbal that went along the llines of… “I’m a mother of 8 (yes eight!!) and I’ve just come out of hospital after the birth of my last child…. I think it’s disgusting that you won’t come and and look at my WM without charging me??? It’s your job. I’m a mother of 8, you can’t charge me…. and on and on interspersed with expletives……… I thought I’ve got spare bricks at the bottom of the garden, I can let you have a couple for free to use on your husband !!!!!! I didn’t go out to her and have not heard back… 8 kids!!!

Im impressed the chavs own Bosch in the Preston area!! When i get a call from any of the ‘economically challenged’ housing estates in these parts i always feel like asking “what model Beko, Indesit or Haier do you own madam” cos 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time you would be correct. :rolls:
Still, the tattooed maidens usually wear their machines out at an incredible rate so it can mean a lot of repeat business…just dont accept a cheque.. 😉November 21, 2008 at 8:17 pm #107604RocketMan

Went out to an Indesit cooker the other day & found out one of the controls burnt out, told customer I would be back today at 10.00 a.m no problem. Turn up at 10.05 to be asked where the hell I had been? when I get to the cooker I find that the Husband has been inside & very helpfully removed the faulty control, no markings on the wiring no diagrame nothing & had also disconnected the hob itself spend 45 mins fitting control & tracing out wiring etc, do safety tests and present bill only to get a mouthfull of abuse because I charged for the extra work. 😡 😡
I just adore customers but I couldnt eat a whole one 🙂 🙂November 23, 2008 at 6:00 pm #107606cornwell40

I’ve literally just had a customer on the phone. I need you to come tomorrow desperate…..blah blah etc etc…
My WM has just stopped working and filled my kitchen with a smokey haze
……. It’s been playing up with this smokey haze and burning smell for about 3 weeks now but it still worked until now….. 😯 😯 😯 it’s just stopped!!!!! So you carried on using it while it was smoking and smelling???? Yes, it seemed ok apart the the haze and smell……Some people would be dangerous if they had brains…

got to vent my spleen regarding this customer . Got a call to a cooker that was tripping as soon as mains switch was thrown customer informs me that electrician who lives opposite took a look and told her element was faulty but not his area so best to call an appliance company I got down to testing the cooker all elements tested ok after half hour or so located fault to hob top and noticed neon temp indicator light sitting at a slight angle removed side panel sure enough cable to the light just touching frame fished out the cable taped up the neon so she could use hob and top oven , customer present throughout advised her i would locate a new neon and ring the following day with price and and availability she then informs me that she has booked somebody to look at it tommorow (dont ask me why) but would now cancel them as i had sorted problem out. My office rings next day leaves a message to say part due in end of week and it will be a total of £65 The next day we pick up a message saying that some other company had called the same afternoon i called and had a light with him and did it all for £40 so thanks but no thanks :angry4: I was going to ring to explain that the reason it was only £40 was that i had done most of the work for them but i couldnt guarantee that i wouldnt use the odd expletive or two so we have now put it in writing with a bill to cover my time Im now looking forward to the fireworks next week , oh forgot to say her husbands a serving police officer so perhaps i shouldnt have been so trusting :rolls: feel much better now thats off my chest cheers cras.
