I once had a phone call at 3.00AM, a nurse on the night shift, my answerphone took the call but it still woke me up. 👿
Also had one ring on Christmas Day about a washer, I picked the phone up then expecting it to be a friend or relative. 😥

Call from a nursing home I do some work for came in on the answer phone at 00.05 am today.
“Can I come and see to a resident who is bypassing their catheter ” 😯Hopefully they got the right number before the morning!

“Oh my God! Are those Maggots?”
“Yeah, but they’re dead maggots!”
Hundreds of them. All around the washer 🙁
One of those houses where you wipe your feet on the way out.

The simple, most annoying thing that they do is blame the machine for something they did in error.
That really annoys me.
You know the sort of thing… the machine magically made the nails appear in it or the machine should be designed to cope with coins, the user not programming it correctly or to take account of the dodgy floor. Whatever.
Or we have the mis-installation one…
The machine or, the poor sap’s that has their name on the front is liable for the idiot that installed it, including the customer.
Then there’s the “I’m entitled to a new one” brigade…
Regardless of what is wrong, even from the multiple choice outlined above, the “customer” somehow is entitled to a new machine or, of course, their money back. Normally after months, if not years, of use. Naturally Trading Standards agree and you have just got to comply with this wish!
You’re too expensive….
But you can afford to have a BMW and a Range Rover Sport on the drive… uh huh…
Or, spot the empty bottles in the kitchen….
Open the fridge and it looks like well stocked shelves in M&S…
Or it’s a damned side-by-side, oh yeah, you’re so poor…
I need it fixed like now…
Why? We managed for centuries without domestic appliances, have we we as a species evolved to the point where we cannot live without such things and, were that the case, would we not have evolved the ability to do what a dishwasher does?
Oh, that’s right, we have…. we have hands to wash dishes!
We can even wash clothes with them and, we even have legs to get us to a laundrette…
We even have these cool things called shops… they sell fresh food… remember that? You really don’t have to go to Tesco just once a month!
Oh the things I really wish I could say to some of the total, utter, idiots that we get on the phone but, you have to bite your tongue, play nice and listen to the pathetic fools do the best they can to get their way.
It cracks me up, the level of service that they get from virtually all of us (even Comet ;)) is utterly outstanding and yet somehow, it’s not good enough. We have to be there yesterday, fix it two days before that and do it for nothing.
Even then, I bet there’s something they’d whine about.

Sounds like many of us need to either take a holiday somewhere far far away for a while just to chill out or perhaps a course in anger management may be a good stress busting option?
“Calm down dear it’s only a washing machine!” (using your best Michael Winner impression).
Get the young lady in your office to put on a Welsh accent when taking customers calls like ‘Peggy’ on Hi Di Hi!….“Oooooh what’s seems to be the problem…..ooooh dear dear, never mind I’ll get someone round by yer sometime soon my luvly don’t you fret now!”
Deep breath, pace yourself, ease of the gas peddle and cruise through your day. Otherwise by the sound of it many will suffer a seizure or turn into nervous gibbering wrecks I shouldn’t wonder.
I get the distinct impression many are living on the edge and are probably unaware that its mostly self-inflicted. Either through trying to do too much with too little for so many or conversely by not having enough work coming in and creating stress when the slightest thing kicks off badly. If either happens week in week out, month in month out then it’s time for a career change at worst or chill out. Dealing with the public at large is a challenging but above all rewarding task “If you play your cards right Brucie!” But if you come home and kick the cat or punch a whole in the office partition you do have a problem that needs sorting.
This thread acts like a stress ball in many ways, allows many to air their frustrations with like-minded folk. But one thing it falls short of doing is solving those many problems as and when they occur that’s up to the individual but life’s too short to worry about it. I gave up that malarky years back, take regular holidays, fixed the hole in the office wall and buried that darn cat!……….lives cool now for me brother..innit! 8)

had one today. husband rung up about 30 mins after i sold a 2 year old bosch classixx to her. “Im really not happy with the price id of expected for £180″ to get at least a years parts and labour warranty on that second hand washing machine”
this was after agreeing with his wife wed fit it and demo it working, and give her 6 months free labour cover on any part failure (exc. bearing failure) and parts are charged at cost. i even threw in a free call out on their current machine as wed be there anyway because if it could be fixed theyd like to use it for the doggy blankets and horse riding kit.
