You should have asked why her Chris needs to ask so many questions when he already knows the answers.

Picture the scene…….got a call to a mobile home park today, Candy integrated washer-dryer not working. Large lady greeted me at the door, as wide as she was tall, beckoned me in. ‘Galley style’ kitchenette with not enough room for her to turn around in so she enters forwards and leaves backwards. In order she get out of the way to access this washer dryer I have to back out the door to make way for her.
Dirty filthy kitchenette with washer dryer jacked up on bits of MDF because part of the floor has bowed………to cut a very long story short, I fixed the machine with the obvious difficulties overcome at each stage……
….However the lasting impression I had toward the whole job was not the technical difficulties I encountered but rather this large ladies choice of perfume and it’s effect on me and the entire property. I can only describe it as Eau de Halibut 😮 🙁 😕

Maybe you need to get one of these to go with your new gloves.

First phone call in this morning….
‘Hello, Tim Downing can I help?’
‘Is that Tim?’
‘Yes, how can I help?’
‘Why is your phone being diverted?’
‘So all my calls go to my mobile!’
‘Why? Aren’t you open yet?’
‘Yes I’m open, Im on my way to my second call.’
‘Ok. My gas cookers not working.’
‘Sorry I don’t repair gas cookers.’
‘You have repaired it before.’
‘No I have never repaired cookers.’
‘Ok bud.’ phone goes dead.
Grrrr. Who do people think they are?

Maybe the guy was from Trading Standards checking to see if you were Gas Safe registered or willing to fix a gas appliance without such a qualification?

Customer rings up the other day to have her washer fixed. Usual question “can you give me a time?” I usually reply, are you going out? she replies, yes in the morning until about 1 oclock.
OK I will put you down for a PM call sometime after 2 oclock is that OK? yes she replies I will be in all afternoon.
I arrived at 3.30 to find she is out (15 miles travelling).
When I get home there is a message on my answerphone, “sorry we waited to 3PM we are now going to pick the kids up and are going away for the weekend”.
She rings up on Monday and says sorry but you were coming at 2PM. I reminded her that she was not going out that afternoon and I never give a precise time. Can you come back she said ? so I said yes but you will be charged extra for the waisted journey, her reply, dont bother I will get some one else
My invoice is in the post, though I doubt I will ever see it.By the way, single mum with boyfriend on tow

I love it when you knock the door and the dog(s) go mental. You can hear the customer taking forever to restrain and lock the snarling beasts away. Eventually the door is opened and the customer says “sorry, just putting the dogs out of the way. You don’t mind dogs, do you?” and then proceeds to let the bloody things out to annoy you – so why take so long to put them out of the way? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Next time I’m asked that I shall simply say, “No, I don’t mind dogs but health and safety requires that they are kept well away from me while I am working.” Worse are the ones who don’t even think to ask 👿 .

this is almost a daily occurrence, no matter how much you stress the point on the phone, the customer will only hear what they want to hear and when you stress the point that we have “never given an exact arrival time in over 20 years, why then would we start now with you” no doubt the usual response is that you are calling them a liar.
Sometimes I wish we recorded every booking and could download the recording onto our smart phone and can instantly play it back to the customer on their doorstep or wherever when we are accused of being late. No doubt possible but worth the hassle just to see their faces before they slam the door in mine.I banned the use of “after” when taking bookings and instead offer “between 2 and 6” or whatever but even that does not get through to many of the thicko’s out there.

Think you have to ask people’s permission to record their calls?
I’m always late anyway. I think it’s an inherited trait so there’s nothing I can do about it 😆 . I say, “between 2&4” and arrive 4.05pm if they’re lucky. Seem to find plenty of people round here are in all the time anyway.
PS: Is this post showing 8.10am to others or is it just to me?Mike.

No! It’s the time lag between Greenwich and Penzance Mike.
I think Mark needs to move down to the south-west where life takes on a more relaxing carefree lifestyle. It’s a different world down there Mark where time has little meaning.
Sweet cheeses! is that the time?….I must dash, bye for now!

5 weeks back I cleared a blocked pump filter on a Hotpoint integrated washer. When I ran it through a rinse cycle I spotted it was filling with HOT water. So without too much fuss realised the hoses/stopcocks were round the wrong way and I swapped them over into their correct positions, like you do!
I asked my customer just how long had it been like that and she said from Day 1 and that was approximately 4 years ago! 😯
When I enquired if she didn’t think it slightly odd that her washing was coming out hot? And that surely the more delicate items of clothing must of either shrunk or a best got very creased? She stated that only her husband moaned of his nylon socks shrinking but they put that down to their Hoover dryer which isn’t in the best of health anyway!
So anyway, this morning she rang me asking if I could call back and swap the hoses back again as she preferred the way it was and felt it washed better with it having hot rinses.
I declined her request and she went off the line in a huff! :rolls:
