The first time dad with wife on maternity leave that reject every time slot I suggest, eg:

“she goes out with the baby between 10 and 11 so can you come after 11”, “she feeds the baby between 12 and 12:30 and he won’t eat if anyone else is there”, “the baby sleeps between 2 and 3, so you’ll have to come after then”, “she’ll be cooking his tea after 4:30, so you’ll need to be out before then.”

Moan and winge at me when the Bosch washing machine is BER due to it being used in a multi-occupancy house with 8 foreign workers each probably washing 2-3 times a week due to working in a stinking onion processing factory.

But it’s only 4 1/2 years old – yes but it’s had 9 years worth of work. Tell your workers not to continue using the machine 6 months after the bearings have started to fail. That why it’s knackered – now stop winging at me and pay up!

I wouldn’t mind but I got 5 minutes off the husband then 10 minutes off the wife who had to pay up – pah

Ever so keen to help cutomer.

Muttering to myself – right water back on – customer runs to sink area and bends down to turn water before I could say anything. Next thing water everywhere, customer wet, floor wet, water pouring out and I had to dive in and turn it off. Customer saying, you left the hose off or you haven’t put it back on properly.

Err no – I didn’t disconnect it under the sink – YOU opened the wrong unused valve. 😡

Valve capped off – soaking wet in this weather – pah.

To be honest I do carry valve caps and offer to do it but not until I’ve finished and cleared up.

Left her sorting out all her soaking wet detergents. 😀

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

I phoned a customer Thursday night to arrange a visit to fit a defrost heater I had ordered for them. The visit was important before the fridge frost up again.

The customer said great his wife has taken the day off work on Friday for a plumber to call to fix the heating and a carpet fitter to fit a carpet.

I advised if I had a problem getting to them with the weather conditions I would phone him.

I drove 30 miles in the bad snow to get to them and found the plumber and carpet fitter waiting out side and both just going to leave as they had been waiting an hour to gain access.

I left a visit card and left at the same time as the plumber and carpet fitter who had both got stuck in snow and had to dig them selves out.

I had a phone call from the wife about 3 hours later to say sorry she had gone out with the kids because she did not think anyone would call because of the weather conditions and the schools were closed.

I asked her if she thought no one would turn up a phone call to check if I was coming would have been good.

She replied there is no need to be sarcastic and put the phone down.

I had a call from the customers husband tonight apologising for his wife and called her a silly cow.

He has arranged a new visit for next Friday but he said he will take the day off and he also said he would pay me for an additional visit as he was pleased I had made the effort to visit.

So it was not all in vain.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Customers who follow up aggressively some time after a repair with the apparent intention of bouncing you in to a free follow up repair, when it seems to me they are using this as a cover for their own misuse or bodged repair attempts. I’ve had two messages passed to me this week, both claiming machines repaired “a month ago” have gone wrong again, and wanting free call backs ASAP.

First was a Hotpoint Condenser dryer that I had repaired nearly 4 months sgo, replacing the heater thermostats and motor capacitor. Heater had cut-out again, probably due to blocked condenser.

Second was an overflowing Matsui slimlime dishwasher I drained out nearly 3 months ago and thoroughly tested. The customer now says he has stripped the dishwasher down and found the problem is being caused by a faulty bottom door seal with the implication that I must now fit this for him free of charge.
