Just had a guy knock at my door to complain that I’d overcharged his daughter for taking 20 minutes to clean the filter on her washing machine.
Never mind the fact that the filter was so clogged you couldn’t open it. Never mind that I spent closer to 40 minutes draining, then dis-assembling the pump and assorted hoses in order to allow the filter to be removed for cleaning. Never mind that I re-assembled and thoroughly tested the machine on several cycles.
All that for £50… too much anyone?
Bloody cheap if you ask me.👿

With people like this ask them to get a quote from the manufacturer and tell them if they are cheaper you will refund the difference ,have said this a few times over the years and funnily enough have never heard any thing else 😉 Cras

That sort of customer will never understand. Same breed of people who say your expensive then they openly admit, when you challange them, they haven’t had any other quotes. IDIOTS!

Trouble is they think that you have just made a megga £50,with no over heads to pay,when i get this type of customer i just run them over some of my over heads, soon shuts them up.
You can please some of the people some of the time,
But you cant please all the people all of the time,canufixit

“I paid £XXX hundreds of pounds for this washing machine (or whatever) and I want…” blah, blah, blah…
Never mind that 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of what was paid was to the chancellor.
Or, the cost of transport.
Or, warranty.
Or the actual goods.
No, everything is free apparently as you can just refund or replace it every time.
I had a chat with a “mechanic” doing this one day and asked him, what happens when a car goes phut at 18 months old?
They fix it he says.
Then I asked and, does the manufacturer not pay you?
Only if we don’t manage to fix it on time or at all he says.
Huh, so, you think that we’re different then?

i get this a lot …being from central scotland and working either in the west or the east ..
wheres that accent from ?
if im in the west ie glasgow – … most people think im from fife ..north east ..
if im in east ie edinburgh – people think im from glasgow
i could barley be 5 miles west of office and people feel they need to ask where my accents from ….it really funny when i say 5 minutes along the road ..
i try to have a laugh with customer and say if they guess wrong there not getting appliance fixed …
it always fascinated me all the different accents from such a small we island ..

Can the Scots revert to a ‘posh Scottish accent’ depending on if they are fixing a machine in a posh house one minute then a high rise tenement the next? Sort of Duncan Bannatyne turns into Rab C Nesbit depending on the call out charge….?

yeh when your in glasgow – you have to finish your sentence whith – “know what a mean man “
edinburgh = ” does wan understand “
falkirk/Stirling – finish sentence with ken wit a mean ..
cumbernauld – ” thats pure broke that is man “
all these can be done in posh – slang with a hint of english – irish welsh and most popular foreign accents

Bannatyne…posh?? Can’t understand the half of what that fekker says, and I’m a Jock born and bred 🙂
He’s got a fair amount of disposable income no doubt but that alone does not a posh man make 😉

Meant to add this one. Turned up to a call last Monday, notes on the job sheet Am as early as posable, got there 8:05, customer opens the door and says your early any idea how long its going to take Iv got to go to work?
I had not even walked through the door ,not even said hello yet.
So i walked in and replied only a few minutes as I will need to order parts!
She then said so you know what’s wrong with it then ?
At this point we were now in the kitchen and I replied sorry no I don’t even know what I’m hear to look at is it the dishwasher ? knowing full well it was the washing machine.
She just looked me pointed at the washer and said I need to call work and went in the other room.
I did have a chuckle to my self I must admit

Phone is off on a Sunday so pick up voicemail for Monday around 8.30PM last night. Someone then calls (unknown number) at 8.50PM as I’d left the phone on. I asked them ‘politely’ to call after 9 in morning as I was just putting my son to bed.
Ringing back through messages this morning when I get to this stroppy female who says ‘we called you last night and you asked us to call back tomorrow, didn’t think you were interested as we’d left you a message earlier as well, we’ve rung someone else’ then comes the all telling phrase….’I’m in business as well and…..’. Why do these pillocks expect you to be on call to them 24/7 just cos they’re misguided ‘work effick’ tells them they have to :rolls: .Monday rant over 😉
