Thermal Overload Cutout. Normally has a red reset button in the middle of it. π

Have you tried running it for 30 mins or more, 20 mins or less is the cool down period so you wont get any power to the dryer element. The toc is the one nearest the back on the left of the heater box looking at it from the fornt. it will have a button between the connections. Try it for 30 mins first !

hi again,
done it for thirty mins still stone cold. i placed one side of the meter agains an earth and then placed the other probe against the spade connecters on the element one at a time and they all show 240v, is it possible that the element is shot and i just need to change it ? i hope it is cream crackered though if theres no open circuit how can that be? πFebruary 10, 2011 at 8:47 pm #341455stryder

You have been mentioned a few times on here, so you are indeed a legend π
The mentioned thread is like a novel to read from start to finish, box of chocs at the ready π
Have you finished the Renault or shouldnt i ask π
All the best of wishes to you and yours
quickwash :plug:If I learned anything from Candy, that was cutting the stuck parts when removing is the best way to go (as long as replacement is cheap) which was applied successfully on Renault’s stuck tie rod when replacing a broken cv boot. I dont have any photos about that π but here is something documenting my adventure with the blower resistor of Renault with photos π

I’m glad it got through to you Evren, I wonder if Martin’s kind offer of a new machine still stands. π
Jim.That was a good offer, although I never liked top loaders. I like seeing the clothes while getting washed π this forum is really amazing, people are offering free washers and moderators are tracking you down and bringing back to forum etc. unbelievable π

Nice to hear from you too, it appears you are famous with offering free washing machines π
All things considered that Candy is perhaps legendary between me and my friend who owned it as well, it sometimes comes up in the conversation when there is something which looks like it is impossible to fix π

I think now is the time to change the element. But before you do, are you sure that the fan is working, the drain pump running AND the water is flowing through the condenser? If yes to all three, then change the element.

Indeed so Evren although stryder has a while to go yet before I would possibly even consider that an option. π

hi martin
thats a yes to all three so i decided to order a new element.
i`ll let you know if it works.
by the way quickwash, how did you go on with your peggies at the dentist. i`d rather start this repair all over again than go to the dentist πFebruary 12, 2011 at 12:05 am #341461quickwash

:waving: stryder,
Unfortunately the tooth had broken off so the dentist had to dig the root out 8O, it was curved so my gum got ripped, wouldnt stop bleeding and it still smarts like a . Not a good day π
Lets hope the new element sorts things out π
Bestest of luck with fitting it

hi all
thought i would give it a rest for a while as i was becoming obsessed with it π
anyway heres the latest- washer working fine , ie draining, filling , spinning and what have you. i put the new element in and that seems to heat up fine but the washing still doesn`t come out very dry. i took the top off the machine and ran a drying cycle and i noticed the heater blower fan is only coming on now and then, its off more than its on so although the dryer element is getting nice and hot the fan isn `t blowing enough hot air into the drum because it keeps stopping for a nap. anyone got any ideas what the problem is? just out of interest, doest the fan motor have replaceable brushes ? -
