Impossible for me to comment on pattern valves as I don`t fit them. But under the circumstances for a fiver + p.p it is the most obvious thing to get to try. Best of luck and we`ll see what happens

Took off the leads going to the input valve. Multimeter on each electrode and no reading at all? Guess that means its the switch? Is this usual to happen?
Is this what you mean? I took both the wires off the inlet valve and set my meter to Kohms ( not set on x10 by mistake otherwise you`ll read nothing anyway ) and tried to read through the valves teminals but no joy, no reading at all, there`s open circuit between these two terminals. (1)Suppose that means that the valve is a gonna? (2)Is this common?
1 yes the valve has snuffed it.
2 no not particulary, bit of a coincidence to say the least.
Suggest you do not get a cheap pattern valve to replace it some of those are pretty bad but a baumatic one will do the job if Kenwood one a rip off price or o/stock- should be about a 15 quid part either way, Also suggest possible cause of solenoid coil going open circuit in first place and that maybe part blockage in matrix as mentioned before= causes valve to o/heat as slow filler ( perhaps ) though slow filling not overly a common cause either, but very slow filling certainly is. So since you`// have to take matrix pipe off valve I`d try blowing up the pipe as suggested to see if blockage is there it`ll either be yes there is one no there isn`t one! You`ll probably need to get a small narrow hose clip to replace the often fitted factory pipe`s clip where the pipe is fitted to the valve.
Best of luck with it.December 13, 2015 at 9:06 pm in reply to: Kenwood dishwasher (KDW60B13) not filling with water #4337021totalshambles

inlet valve about 3.5 to 4.4 Kohms

Other things it can be on these things.. Common faults on these things is the l/h/side chamber water input `matrix` gets blocked by lime quickly stopping the machine from filling, if you put your ear to the side you should hear the valve slightly humming/buzzing which means it is at least getting power- can you hear any humming from the valve? if not it might be a dud o/ciruit valve solenoid coil which is pure coinicidence- doubtful you`ll have the very rare valve humming but still won`t open the valve`s internal plunger fault and on a year old or so machine I`d be surprised if it`s a broken wire in the loom but you never know- If the valve is humming and all the simple stuff has been checked it`ll probably be this side matrix blockage- turn power off, turn off h2o, remove side, disconnect hose from valve and blow up the pipe that`ll prove if matrix is blocked, if it is do not buy a replacement matrix but get Kilrock kettle descaler and disconnect the matrix carefully do not break the matrix securing nut that you have to undo from inside the tank, lay matrix on some newspaper and pour in a small amount of descaler down the valve pipe in to the matrix and watch for fizzing. ( for others reading this in the future: if it is a leaked base another common problem that is not obvious is the salt pot securing nut goes loose allowing a leak in to the base thus tripping the emergency over flow flood switch and the bottom wash blade turret goes loose too..two points to check.) Other than that the dishwashers are not that bad.

Gave up with it. Bought a clothes horse instead, more reliable !

Well that`s why my handle is 1totalshambles Martin. Andy Jones, can`t disagree with you as I forgot about top loaders thinking the original question pointed to front loaders which it didn`t-my fault.

Hang your technology me old friend! The World moves closer to it`s own foretold conclusion; it isn`t pretty as I suspect we`re just about to find out the hard way. “So perhaps you might like to enter into the 21st century thinking” Why, what can you tell me that is so positive about 21st Century thinking, now 17th Century, now that was a Century for real thinking.
“By the way, your ‘style’ of posting makes me suspect you may have posted before under another alias, just a suspicion on my part that is ” How dare you “incinerate” that, your such a fornominal wit Martin which is why your one of the best and informative posters on this site and I`m not being sarcastic but why not lighten up a little, go and buy a can of Special Brew and relax. Well done all the same, at least I`m memorable even if you don`t agree, or perhaps you do, with my literary endeavours.

Well the question is old but for what it is worth I`d go for a Hotpoint WM series machine and not a 95 series that preceeded it. Why? Because they used a SENSIBLE amount of the old H20 but they above all sold thousands of the things so there are loads of very competitively priced spares still left both genuine and pattern ( drums gone obsolete though I noticed )…………I`ve had mine for 16 years and it`s still on it`s original bearings and they`re straight forward machines to repair and run- but I`d change the door interlock for a brand new one as they short out and blow the timer tracks, you can get a new door lock for 7 quid. Top tip is to use the 50 degree synthetics cycle more if you can rather than 40 one all the time as the hotter wash is better for the machine when used with non bio powder. These machines were not perfect- the original motor`s brushes were not long lasting so I changed my motor to a fhp type which are much better-but then there will never be one of any make ( and that includes Miele ) whether it`s the crushingly expensive price of parts, no future parts, or whatever. New eco washers tend to be somewhat lacking, quite a few short lived elements due to cold fill only and low H2O levels was always going to be asking for trouble!

If this is where all said lights flash really fast- 4x a second approx then isn`t this the printed circuit board fault bottom rear right hand side? From memory there`s a capacitor that fails, visually the silver base swells up in to a dome..this is what you`d be looking for in comparison to the several other cylindrical shaped caps on the board which`ll all have flat base. A cap is less than £1 from Maplins and so long as it is close to the original cap value it shouldn`t matter. Take note of the `-`sign as marked on the cap`s side so you solder the new one the right way round-this does matter. Power off/ unplugged of course, wait 15 mins to be on the safe side, then remove the board from the machine and mark and also draw on paper where the board wires go to save any confusion before taking the wires off.

Long shot- motor brushes worn out?

Pretty sure that is the rare water inlet valve solenoid coil fault where the coil/one of the coils melts and then affects the pcboard causing pump running all the time. Have a look at one of the coils and see if there`s a swell/burn mark under the plastic covered inlet valve solenoid coils you might see it. Have to say this is a bit of a long shot but there`s not much left to try.

Sussed it!! Answer to my little question was no it didn`t affect the machine electrically by having the circ pump disconnected. Update: I replaced the circ pump. The reason why I was asking was because there was another problem too which was tricky to prove until I looked- when on 60 degrees wash and pumping out the o/let hose was going soft due to the heat and kinking so the water wouldn`t pump out but when it cooled down or had rinse water going through it the kink became less of a kink and so it worked! Nice new hose fixed that one. Pretty obvious except it wasn`t because the hose looked fairly good when the machine was pulled out but wasn`t when pushed back in.
Thanks for looking.1totalshambles

Just a thought. Possible tear in door seal where dryer manifold enters top of door seal or near that area circ 12 o/clock. This would make the work top warmer than normal but you`d also get no water leaks.
