Yes even the magnetic ones work, they do something with the ions in the calcium, and stop it sticking.
I think is that how it works? 😉October 2, 2007 at 4:37 pm in reply to: To use or not to use water softeners for hard water? #228669adamhornsby

Homefix, this might be of some use, and although they are quite expensive to maintain, the unit will soon pay for its self, as excessive electricity and detergent, descalers and replacements and repairs of your machines and C/H will soon become a thing of the past.

Think the creasing is bad with a 1600rpm machine, I’d hate to think what the clothes come out like from the 1800rpm Miele Navitronic and the 2000rpm Gorenje. 😉
Especially shirts and jeans- they’re the worst.
Some serious ironing there folks. 😆adamhornsby
ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
Its common sense really, that to make the machine cheap, they build it cheap, so they use thinner steel, and to keep it strong they use less holes, now Miele use thicker steel, cos they can afford to, and off course, more holes go in it.
Simple really 😉adamhornsby

Martin wrote:No way! We are talking ‘centrifugal force’ here and any washload in any machine irrespective of make will extract more water at 1600 than at lesser speeds. Theres no more holes in a Miele drum than an equivalent Indesit. So both of equal size and speed will extract the same amount of water. Decrease the spin speed or the drum size and there is no comparison.
Really, thats not what it says here: 😉

All very well having a fast ‘centrifugal force’ but without a lot of holes, where the water gonna go?
And I’d think you would find there are more holes in a Miele drum than an Indesit, as they are made from thicker stronger steel, so they can perforate it more.adamhornsby

Yes I think I might copy and paste that text, sums it all up really. And that is true, as Im sure there would be some green eyed monsterness if we told them about how well the Germans do it.
Im damn sure that will make them sit up straight and pay attention….adamhornsby
ParticipantRe: I am death to washing machines. Help!!
Okay okay, ISE or Miele, both better than most of the other rubbish out there. I have not used either machines, well tell a lie, I have used a Miele washer and dryer before at Brownhills, and they were very easy to use and very quiet too.
But as for both of them, word of mouth and personal judgement tells you which ones are reliable. And these two are.adamhornsby

Thanks we’ll try that and let you know.

Thanks for that, what should we tell them?

ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
And theres more where that came from, I found out where they all came from- Buyers & Sellers. How nice of them to show Miele’s quality, and no trace of the Merphoney group on the website.

Does anyone know Merphoney’s address?

ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
Look what I’ve found, a video of how Miele make their machines. Proves what we’ve said all along.

ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
So how come the Ardo machines look a lot like those by Servis?
Sorry Martin, but im sure the spinning thing is told like that on the information bit of the site.

Indes**tCompanyI could go on, but my Gin Bottle is running low, so excuse me whilst I refill………..WQ
Yes maybes we should rename them that, I always feel my blood boil when i hear Merloni, Ariston, Hotpoint, Creda, Servis and that word pronounced by the devil which is Indesit.
I think Adam needs to cool down a bit.
By the way, is it the same Merloni tinpot company that owns ASKO and the one that also owns Ardo which look distinctively like Servis machines?
Dragging ASKO down like that. Unbelievable.adamhornsby

Yes the Prestige Plus is 1300rpm the same as our current Hoover, it doesnt have delay start, yet we never use the one on our Hoover anyway. I will welcome the silence that will be bought into our abode as it sounds like a Boeing 747 taking off! and also the program sequence indicators will be a boom.
