ParticipantRe: Hoover New Wave Making Strange Sounds
Yes, I think that is right actually, my parents bought it when I was toddling, I believe. According to my knowledge, they’ve always had Hoover products, I can’t remember the other one, but it had a brown control panel, and a chrome rim around the door, with the dial you have to push in or pull out for the programme to start.
Yes it is 14 years old, thanks Iadom, but suprises me just how long it has lasted with only a few mere spare parts, of course every machine eventually through its life needs brushes, belts and door seals replacing, apart from the Indesits of course, which don’t have much of a life. 😉
I stil don’t know what the problem is, I tried Penguins idea, but cant see no arcing. As far as I know, it has never needed a new motor, axle or bearings, so I cant see it needing any now.
I still dont know why it makes the loud noises when its slowing down, is that normal or is it a fault?adamhornsby

Just an update on the whole situation, after many attempts, all have failed, after I take the assessment thing, I recieve an email the next day saying the application was unsuccessful. Do you have to be 18 to apply?
For goodness sake, can’t anyone utillise my talents at all?
And If i knew how to upload a picture you’d know what I mean.adamhornsby

Okay just a update on our tough old bird 😉 which suprisingly has only needed a few door seals, brushes and a new pump in 17 years, but to the point, I think it is on its last legs, as when it is de-accelerating, it makes a loud scraping sort of sound, could it just be the brushes or is it time for a new one? 😕

Kwatt, I don’t know. I guess its quite good for safety sake and a space saving point of view. The question though Kwatt, you have to ask, is why did Miele invent it in the first place, although the Miele one does look a lot better. The pdf definitely says its there, you can read up on it here. Its the one on the top of the page, on page 20. http://www.serviceforce.co.uk/pdfs/U25364.pdf
Thanks though, I guess its usefullness, will be the proof in the pudding when the kitchen is done, then I’ll update all.

According to the Aeg pdf instructions, it says it is a cutlery tray for standard sized cutlery, the basket for odd cutlery in the bottom. It sounds a good idea, but IMO it looks like AEG wanted to rip-off Miele.

ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
I know that don, but the AEG ones have like a little tray in the top basket, not a actual slide out element like the Miele ones. I’m just wondering whether it has one thats all.
You’ll see it here http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/prod … -position1 and i think the tray is the grey thing at the top right hand corner, not sure If mine has it, because it its an older model, can anyone enlighten me please?adamhornsby
ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
We were going to get one of those for our new kitchen, AEG’s version though. They are expenisve, which is why we changed our mind and we are now going to buy a Gaggia Cubika from argos when its done.
Does anyone know if the older versions of the AEG FAV86070Vi fully integerated dishwasher has one of the Miele rip off cutlery trays in the upper basket, if ours does, can it be removed?adamhornsby
ParticipantRe: Will the Miele last with 3 kids?!
No that was rather intresting, although i cant seem to understand why the spins arent long, i think they are on Miele machines, but all the bantering about global warming with peoples tumble dryers, yet the spins dont spin at high for the entire length, i know they have to distribute the load, but its just seems a bit strange. 😕
I also cant understand why Hotpoint machines still carry a 5 year guarantee, i mean, do Hotpoint really still have faith in their machines, after Merphoney group took them over. And by god, do the Hotpoints need that guarantee…. 😆

Has it arrived yet doozeruk? I have also remembered that the Miele W1000 range does have special programmes for shirts and denim to keep creasing to a minimum

ParticipantRe: White Knight dryer- not drying right.
I’m not sure, but one thought, might be that we keep it in the garage, is that suitable enough for a dryer, and the garage is pretty cold at the best of times. I also wondered whether there could be a problem with the element or the sensor?

I cant understand though, the ducting is the same in the garage now than when we had it in our ‘lean to’yet it doesn’t seem to dry even though we still spin them the same now as we used to do. I dont know why it isnt drying right. As for ventilation, we have it on a deep shelf unit, so theres enough room, behind and around the sides.
Any other reason why?

Yes, it is, i have checked whether the vent is connected to the dryer and the window vent and it is, i used it just this evening and everything seems to be in order, and also there looks enough room around for the air vents.
