Hi
Yes a VT9 will fit as long as it is wired correctly. There would be NO fault on the compressor and it’s NOT low on refrigerant as the fridge is going to -4 as the refrigerant goes round the freezer section first and as yo haven’t mentioned the freezer temperature I can only assume that this isn’t a problem.

Yes it is possible to replace the sensors.This is done by measuring distances from top and side of the back of the fridge freezer and removing the foam insulation and then fitting the new sensor by soldering and heat shrinking the joints. We’ve done about 20 in about 10 years and use the expanding foam from diy stores to re foam them.After new sensor has been fitted its solved the problems
Sensor is approx 200mm – 300mm from top and 200mm – 300mm from left side looking at the rear dependent on model

Was the ice build up there when you purchased the fridge new..NO !
Therefore you have a fault. the fan should run when the door is closed.

To be honest..you trying to work on it with the door open is a waste of time as the evaperator won’t get down to the correct temperature . have you tried replacing the freezer evaperator sensor ?..Thats where I would start.

Hi
Manually defrosting every 6 months is a waste of time as the fridge will never be at the correct temperature I wouldn’t personally eat anything out of a faulty fridge.Sort the problem out and repair it.
