    Re: Best Washing machine!

Try looking for a Bosch autowasher, not the best but at your price level its £ for £ value.

Re: Thermal Cut Outs on TDC62 (P/N 1701583) – new pair knack

Wow- barely hoped for an answer on a Friday night!

Really appreciate this guys- thanks for the guidance and lessons in what I now realise is the blindingly obvious on why there are two!!

I know what caused it I believe- the original condenser unit was replaced a couple of months ago under warranty- what wasn’t spotted at the time was that presumably because of this lots of damp fluff was sitting BEHIND the condenser and virtually blocking the airflow. (it surprises me how much gets through the door filter and masses on the front of the condenser instead) All it was waiting for was a load on the slightly too big side to tip it over…

    I’ll order the replacement now.

Just for interest and perhaps helping someone out a little- Its actually our second Hotpoint equipment failure in a week, our machine stopped miid-cycle (under warranty but I wasn’t waiting a week for an easy fix blockage if that’s all it was going to be) What I discovered was a bit of a shocker- her indoors was using these new ‘colour catch’ sheets which say just put straight in your wash. This is nonsense- they need to be in a garment bag- I found FIVE wrapped around the ball in the outlet under the drum reducing the outflow to a dribble!!!

    Thanks again 😀 😀 😀 😀

    Re: Whirlpool ADP4500 dead

The controls on this machine are rather basic. An on/off switch at the top right, and a knob for setting the programme and a start button at the top left. Beside these are three LEDs: 2 red for salt and rinse aid warning and a green one which I guess turns green when the machine is switched on.

On the occasions I get a response, the green light comes on for about a second when I press the start button then goes off. This is true whether I have released the start button or not. After this it needs some time to settle itself before it will repeat the trick. Holding down the start button and then switching the machine on also leads to the green LED flashing for a second or so.

The machine has been standing for a couple of months. It originally belonged to the aunt of a friend. On her death my friend took it and kept it in his garage until I happened to mention that my old dishwasher had died. It has therefore also been carried around in the back of a couple of cars in positions which it probably shouldn’t have been. Yet when I first plugged it in to give it a shakedown and clear the cobwebs it worked first time.

All I did after this was to move it into its cubbyhole in the kitchen and connect it up permanently, yet I somehow managed to kill it. After this first use there were a few suds left on the floor which after looking through the archives here I put down to excess rinse aid, probably escaping when the machine was on its back/side. I have tipped a couple of buckets of water inside and sucked it out again with the vacuum cleaner but this did not help. I understand that modern dishwashers calculate water level by timing the intake rather than anything so simple as a float so trying to start with water present didn’t achieve anything.

Before I started filling it manually I lifted the filter out and saw an inch or two of water in the very bottom but nothing more. The underside and the various components all appear spotless, shiny and as new.

I will have another look at the switch and see if this helps.

    Thanks for your help.

P.S. Just out of curiosity, the base of all dishwashers I have seen contains what looks like a palstic tub filled with mashed baked beans. What is this really and what does it do.

Re: Thermal Cut Outs on TDC62 (P/N 1701583) – new pair knack

Our TDC62 (just out of warranty of course) gave up heating, and I searched the web for clues and ended up here! 😆 Though I hadn’t anticipated ‘having a go myself’. 😯

Having removed the back panel- I found two stats and have to agree with Linda that although not burned out looking there is no evidence of any temp on them- you say the 130 is on the left and this makes sense with the pink (for red?) wire rather than the blue one for the right hand lower stat (?)

❓ My question is- do I presume that the ‘solid’ slightly caved in state of that stat gives it away as blown, while the other one appears slightly bloated and has a little free movement apparent (ie it makes a little clicking noise when you move it about).

I will order replacement stats if I don’t here soon and cross my fingers the heater is fine!

Out of curiousity- why are there two? If the higher one is blown- why is the lower one OK?? Or have I got it all wrong. (You may have guessed my electrical ability stretches little beyond changing a plug!! )

    Many thanks

    Re: Whirlpool Ameerican fridge freezer

Water in the bottom is unusual…..are there any signs of water leaking/over flowing from the ice maker. These drips usually freeze and leave a trail behind them.

Another explanation is the runaway channel is blocked and the water you see comes from the defrost cycle, this would normally be collected on the base of the fridge.

In either case I think its engineer time for you, not a DIY this. You could always phone 0870 600 8989 and see if whirlpool will conceed a concessionary visit to you if as you say, your only just out of guarantee.

Re: Bosch 6312 Dishwasher: No Heat

    Hi again

    Thanks for your last reply.
I have checked through all the bosch threads as suggested but cant find anything on repairing the circuit board which I quite happy to have a go at considering there is nothing to lose. One entry from a moderator says its not a DIY repair. Have you any more info or a clue as to where to find it in the postings. I’ve just joined the site as a member so I will be able to receive info by email if that is more convenient.

    Thanks

Fraid this lot failed to get the CITY’s backing and could not get investors in to keep them afloat. It was an article on the business news sometime ago on 5 live, only took note because I also still have a box of spares and did the training.

Re: Creda Condenser T622CW – No heat

    Hi

I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure that it is the heater, but from the advice on this site, if the stats are both convex on the back, the problem isn’t with the stats.

What do you think? Could there be a problem with the stats even if the backs are convex, or do you think that the problem may be something else?

    Many thanks
