Re: Hotpoint Mistral Frost Free Fridge Freezer

Receipt has only the phone number which is an 0800 number. Still cannot contact him so have decided to cut losses and purchase a new appliance.

TO ANYONE THINKING OF GETTING REPAIRS DONE,
PLEASE CHECKOUT ADDRESS FIRST AND ENSURE PHONE NUMBER IS NOT JUST AN 0800 NUMBER.

If anyone has had problems of this nature please let Trading Standards, the police or even BBC Watchdog know, as I would like to see this cowboy stopped.

Thanks to all who have offered me advice.

Re: Hygena Diplomat APM8521 (Servis?), won’t stop filling.

    Hi Kwatt,

Many thanks for the reply. As I surmissed it appears my poor machine is dying due to both bearings and pressure switch.

After some advice from an ex-repair man friend I was able to fix the pressure switch problem. The switch proved to be okay after blowing into the entry pipe and hearing the microswitch flick on and off. The problem was indeed a blocked pressure pipe which cleared after some serious blowing.

My machine though appears to be on its last legs as the bearning are now producing a burning smell and on its spin cycles only spins 1/2 of the time.

Going to get some quotes now for a fix, will try the forum as suggested, although anything around the £150, I’d prefer to get a re-con with a 1yr warrenty. There is a shop a few miles from where I live.

Many thanks for the reply and info, another wonderfull example of the uses of the Internet!

    Kind regards,

    Ray.

    Dave – thanks. Does the same advice apply as per “lone”‘s comments on a previous post;

    CREDA T622CW no heat

When you have taken the screws out of the back. (plug removed)
you will see two thermostats located above the heater. remove the one with the spot (green/red/blue) this is the one that usually goes, although BOTH have to be replaced, When you have removed it, turn it upside down. there is a strip of metal covering the stat.. If this is concave (dipping in) then the stat has gone, if it is convex then the stat is fine. and means your problems lie elseware.

Thanks for the quick reply. Remove the soap draw, obvious now, but I would never have thought of that.

    Thanks Dave for the info,
apologies for user name -frustation setting in !!
    re APM6825
How do I get to the defrost heater ?
It appears to be sealed behind the moulding of the fridge and is not as simple as the freezer.
I’ve looked at the reverse of the unit and there’s no easy way to get to the reverse of the fridge section it appears to be sealed.
    Any ideas ?

Yes i have checked the exhaust stat and that is ok. The only thing on the appliance that works is the filter light will come on if you open the door and go out again when you shut the door apart from this the appliance is dead. thanks.

    Thank you Dave,

Strange that the configuration was deemed fit really when you consider the implications should anything fall down the back but I believe that New World were one of the first manufacturers to introduce a double built under oven.

    HI Dave

Thanks for that. Might go for a new one. Do you happen to know a good fitter near Ipswich? Or would one of the bigger stores fit as well as supply?

    Thanks..again!

Re: Putting a Freezer in the shed

at -18, -12 and -8 you have the star rating of the freezer, 1, 2 or 3.
So food stored at -18 is good for three months, at -12 for 2 months and -8 for 1 month. So without an electronic readout and memory you just won’t know that the cold weather is interupting your freezer. The alarm on this product is only activated when the temperature rises to -12 which is generally not the case with a freezer.

The easy answer is that they don’t know and only complain when the fault becomes obvious

Re: Whirlpool AWM8000 fault code F11

Martin I have bits and service info on these and Whirlpool out of warrenty labour is at least £135.00 plus vat.

Simple to work on and the thing strips from the front…perhaps we should do a different meeting where we teach a machine or perhaps refrigeration.

Anyone fancy a refrigeration “teach in” weekend…perhaps there are budding trainers out there (r600a) who might help?????

    What you think “scots one”?

Re: Putting a Freezer in the shed

Thanks for the answers LOL but I am still just as confused.

Zillions of people have chest freezers outside and many friends and family have told me that they have had them “for years” and have had no problems ……

but my question to them has been – but how do you know ?? Have they been and checked when the weather is cold ?? Without a warning light just how DO they know ? As soon as weather wams up again it refreezes ……. !!

So I am still in a quandry.

I have to have an additional freezer – I have nowhere else to put it – are the odds in my favour if I buy a quality chest freezer and store it in my shed …. ??? Or is the consensus on here that I just should not do it ??
