    Re: Refigeration gauges

fraid the old way of doing it, is illegal now…..

However way we all do it, we all are subject to Boyles Law, thats what governs the refrigeration process, understand Boyles Law and understand how it works.

    Extracted from the internet

Dr. Schambaugh, of the University of Oklahoma School of Chemical Engineering, Final Exam question for May of 1997. Dr. Schambaugh is known for asking questions such as, “why do airplanes fly?” on his final exams. His one and only final exam question in May 1997 for his Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer II class was: “Is hell exothermic or endothermic? Support your answer with proof.”

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

“First, We postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave.

Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. Two options exist:

If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose.
If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over.
So which is it? If we accept the quote given to me by Theresa Manyan during Freshman year, “that it will be a cold night in hell before I sleep with you” and take into account the fact that I still have NOT succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then Option 2 cannot be true…Thus, hell is exothermic.”

The student, Tim Graham, got the only A.

Hehe, guess I can’t argue with an engineer. Just get a bit defensive of them that’s all (god they’re washing machines, how sad is that?). Mind you I’m not sure if it’ll last much longer, it jumps about all the time with it being on a suspended wooden upstairs floor. Any ideas how to stabilise it and calm the vibrations?

My AEG washer and dryer bought last year are both made in Germany – they even sport a little badge stating this on front of the machine. I sell AEGs along with other brands in the Euronics centre where I work, and I always try to push the AEGs. I know the washers and dryers now use the Zanussi drum assemblies, but they are still put together in Germany to the same high quality standard AEG have already had. BTW I believe AEGs still have a different assembly bar the drums inside from Zanussi’s, from how the transit bolts are fitted and the transport packaging is.

I learnt the hard way about a Zanussi badged AEG – I used to own a dishwasher made by Zanussi which Comet had badged up as AEG. I replaced it a couple weeks ago with a German-made AEG, amazing how much better the *real* things are.

BTW I own both an AEG washer and dryer (installed upstairs in a bedroom) and a Bosch washer and dryer (installed downstairs in the kitchen), and was comparing my direct experience between the two machines.

    Re: Freezer still not sorted

😀 Good news. We managed to get hold of the refrigerator man on Sunday using another mobile so that he would not recognise the number.
My husband said that he would like him to look at the freezer again otherwise he would get in touch with trading standards. He came on Monday afternoon, tested the compressor again and said he thought it was faulty. He came back this afternoon and fitted a new one. This one is very quiet as it should be. We managed to cancel the new freezer we ordered without losing any money. Its been a bit frustrating but all is well now. Thanks for all the advice.

Re: APM 6842 fridge freezer problem

    Hi,

I have kept my Fridge freezer in the garage for the last two years and regularly when it cold outside (anywhere near 2{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) the Freezer defrosts.

I have also had responses that say it is due to the thermostat in the Fridge thinking the whole thing is cool enough.

I have come to accept that in the winter I am going to disconnet the Fridge Freezer. I have just bought a standalone Freezer and it works fine

    🙂

Just a thought for you to consider…..

As you have worked for several companies and survived 15 years on your own I think you must have qualities that others might be able to use.

Sub-contracting your labour to a larger local business might supplement you.
There’s many a time when a business suffers from accident/sickness problems and could do with additional help. Also some have 3 engineers and 4 engineers work on occasions.

    Hope that helps you….

Re: Indesit Dishwasher De73 Fault code

We had similair problems with our DE73, Flooding / Overfilling, In the first year the service engineer was called out about 20 times.

After that i had ago myself, Watching it fill trying to see where it was leaking.

In the end i reduced the suppy water pressure and levelled it up and since then it has been OK.

    Re: stat details needed

    hi,

Assuming the stat is the fault and this is a fascia mounted thermostat….

A universal stat will not do the job as the “d shaft” is out of alignment with the original.

The right hand clip(looking from the back of the appliance) that holds the body of the stat to the fascia, can interfere with a lever on the edge of the stat body, the lever sticking through the body of the stat stops the stat diaphram from switching correctly.

If you provide model number we(DAVE) can look up the part for you.

There are two wires plus earth and they connect to no4 and no6 positions on the stat.

    Re: “New” Coverplan

We all at some time suffer a shortage of manpower due to sickness and external circumstances. It certainly raises the stress levels of our own staff and that of customers.
Considering the time and effort that goes into a network of agents, fine tuning them to be the best agents for the type of work you have to pass, we still come back to the fact that, most of the contract work is done by the same companies.
    Why?

Ok, I will leave others to figure that out, but consider why should any organisation want to undermine the network by demanding more than is possible, in the current climate of no available engineers and low returns? If they hack you off to the point of no return, where are they going to go?
I do 3 day service to the Derbyshire Peak District, I will do 2 day for double the fee, I can also choose not to go at all.

I think we have all pushed for reasoned debate rather than action and feel sure here if there’s any truth to this, that is the way forward.

Hope this is of use to someone –

followed advice found in one of the threads and flushed out the drain behind the black flap – now works perfectly. The was a fair amount of debris in there!

    Re: “New” Coverplan

    hmmm…ok.

Points read and accepted, so far.

But, as proposed in the concept of ND(network-dasa) smaller areas for all and a speedier response go together. Sharing the work to more companies and condensing the areas ….makes sense.

Its already bad on the roads to get from a to b, that situation will not improve, road usage charges, increased traffic will all play their part in slowing us down. So to do 2 day service is not an unreasonable SOS, if we are paid accordingly with consideration to our efforts, I for one will consider condensing my area. This will reduce cost and improve the profitability ratio…..

Until I read more and understand more, I’ll take changes at face value and assess the impact on my business in a positive light. After all, have we not been treated correctly so far? I think we owe it to ourselves to WAIT and see what is what.
