    I don’t believe that the fault will lie with the wiring, but I can check that tomorrow.
    The pressure switch is a ‘Metaflex HD505’, it’s operation appears to be different to how I first made out. It is true that there are 4 terminals, the information on the switch implies that terminal 1 is the commonand that between 1 and the other 3 terminals there are different current rated contacts. Using a DVM I have determined that the switch is configgured as follows:-
    Terminals 1-3 and 4 appear to link together when pressure is applied, (normally open circuit).
    Terminals 1 and 2 go open circuit when pressure is applied. (normally closed contact).
    It should be noted that terminal 2 is not connected to anything.
    Perhaps I should also add that the fault appears to be that the pump will not switch off. something is not allowing the program to move to the next part of the cycle. Could it be a faulty relay on the Power unit? Is it possible to get hold of a schematic for this machine and its circuits? All suggestions and advise welcome.
    Cheers folks.

    Re: Domestic Appliance Horror Stories ?

    Hotpoint Dishwasher, Model Number DF55P. Circ motor broken. Service from Merloni UK’s Peterborough Service Centre particulary poor. Highlights include:

    Machine still broken four months after Service Centre first alerted and having taken days off work for five booked engineer visits, two of which no shows;
    Engineers turning up without the right spare parts;
    Engineer telling us that Service Centre would contact us for new appointment, and hearing nothing for 3 weeks, before following up ourselves;
    Referred to as ‘Mrs’ in latest Service Centre correspondence despite being irrefutably male.

    I can live with the last problem, but indicative of extremely poor service at Merloni. Would not buy Hotpoint goods again or other Merloni products because after sales service so poor.

    I have an Hygena APP 6302 built under fridge,

    The fridge has not been cooling down to a optimum temperature recently even though it is set between 4 & 5.

    When i remove the long probe from the fridge then reconnect the wires to the thermostst and switch back on the fan and compressor kicks in and runs no problem and the back wall of the fridge starts to freeze up.

    Is there any way to bypass the thermostat so i can confirm this is the problem, the thermostat has an earth, 2 brown wires and a black.

    Many Thanks.

    Hello

    We have the same problem with our Hygena APP 6302 built under fridge. It is 2 years old. Is this an easy DIY job?

    Re: Intsalling a vent system for a tumble dryer

    Dear all,

    Thanks for the very useful answers. I have just one other question!
    What is a condensor pot and where can I get one or can I make one?
    Alternitavely could I drill a hole or two at the botto of the first bend, when the dryer in use plug the holes up with a bung and when finished, take the plugs out and place a pot underneath to catch excess water which drips back down?

    Cheers,

    Andy

    Thank you for your prompt reply.
    I have cleaned the filters and drained the water and the F8 fault has cleared but the start light is flashing and the program selector switch doesn’t change the program.

    Any other ideas ?

    Re: Servis M785 Fridge drain freezing up causing puddles

    ********* Fridge update ********

    Looks like it is fixed, its been a week and the drain hole remains ice free.

    I think what was happening was the water drops were somehow going in through the small drain hole and instead of going down the small funnel part they were remaining at the top where they would freeze. Eventually the hole would reduce and freeze up more causing the blockage.

    Now that I have enlarged the hole the water droplets run down the drain chanel and into the drain hole and right to the bottom of the small funnel part, I think that part is a but warmer because it is quite close to the back of the fridge and the warm coils.

    Thanks for your comments so far guys, it makes a change to enter a forum and get responses. Let me start by saying that the machine certainly is not overfilling, however I will need to check the pressure switch again simply due to the fact that I seam to recall one of the spade connectors not changing state although it was wired. Also if memory serves me correctly there is actually 4 contacts, common, open, closed and unknown. It is a brown bottle shaped unit manufactured by some Polish company I think. I will attempt to confirm this though.

    Thanks again.

    I like the idea, start with out cards as it would be very low volumes and is a place to start. Even more useful though are contact cards, ie for when you can not contact the customer on the telephone. These will especially useful for those how do a great deal of contract work and receive work from work providers rather than the telephone. These types of cards customers will read because they need to know what its about and who to contact, an ideal advertising medium for all, hence the contact K is having.

    Martin with regards to your printing, is it gold embossed? We use large triplicated tractor feed pre-printed invoices at 3.75 pence per invoice. It keeps the writing down to a minimum.

    Does the pressure switch act as the sensor to determine the water level within the drum? The chamber of the drum which it connects to was full of gunk which I cleared at the weekend. Still the machine failed to work. However not all of the contacts on the pressure switch appear to change state (normally open/normally closed) when a small amount of air pressure is applied.

    Refund not possible, company that supplied the unit have stated that once power had been applied to the board they will not accept the board under their returns policy.
    I will look into the pump issue further, but I don’t think that this is the problem, as I say, there is very little left in the drum when I strip the machine down each time, also the pump outflow is high (although I haven’t measured it, I would think it was close to the suggested 26Ltrs/min).
    How does the control module sense that the drum is empty of water?

    Re: Smeg DWF 64 Fault

    Dishwasher fixed ! Thanks to the man from Careys it’s all up and running again. Unfortunately I couldn’t be in when he came, but he told my wife that all he needed to do was clean it !

    I’m guessing he meant somewhere in the inlet/outlet system as the dishwasher was clean, and I regularly clean the filter etc as instructed in the manual (honest). Weird thing is that it still could pump water in and out, but I guess some internal safety shut off mechanism was kicking in.

    Anyway thought this may be of use in case someone else out there experiences the same thing…..

    Thanks for all your help
