KeymasterSeems fair enough
We charge £58 +parts on all calls but gas and refrigeration which we charge £67.50 + parts
these are fixed charges and have operated this system fore a couple of years, customers seem to like it because they arent paying against the clock.
We do not operate an estimate charge as it costs the same to put the engineer in the house wether it is a repair or estimate and the engineer does not take extra calls if he gets an estimate

KeymasterRe: AEG Dishwasher wheels
It’s the lower basket – I need both the wheels themselves and a couple of the bearings which clip them onto the basket

KeymasterRe: Hoover Wasing Machine leaves burns holes / chews up clot
I will have to run home and check what the model number is somehow.
But my machine is only a washer not a washer dryer which is why I can’t understand this.
And how do you know if you are overloading? I mean I don’t weigh the clothes as such

KeymasterRe: Charges!
I’m looking for a fixed price to do:
1) refrigeration………..£72.50 inc plus parts
2) gas ……………….£72.50 inc plus parts
3) Laundry etc ………£57.85 inc plus parts
For this you get at worst 2 day service, 12 month guarantee on all parts and labour and service with a smile…………
I also have a reduced charge for small jobs and estimates of £47.00 inc
We get few takers on the gas (which suits us) and an 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} uptake on the refrigeration calls with 65{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} uptake on the laundry etc
Not sure you could have a national rate, for private work.ted

KeymasterThanks again for the suggestions. My first theory was the heater element but I have never known them to fail intermittently. I would have expected that once the casing had failed the ingress of water would have resulted in a permanent short to ground when power was applied. The machine has run faultlessly (6 washes) since the last fuse change. It seems as though I need to perform some megger tests in order to confirm your theories before committing to ordering any spares. I will let you know as soon as I have gained acces to a megger and a confirmed faulty component.

KeymasterRe: Hygena Diplomat APL8215/APL8225
According to the instruction book for the dishwasher, it covers two models:-
APL 8215 (Mocca) and APL 8225 (White) (or possibly the other way round, I’m at work so don’t have booklet to hand)
I kind of assumed we had the Mocca one and so the other model would have been the same except in white
Would the price above include the control knob and power/drying switches? Also would the handle be included or would that be extra.
Lastly, is it a complicated job to change this?

KeymasterI’ m reading and learning at the moment some of it is going over my head will speak to you soon

KeymasterI know just read the post’s tried to smooth it over a bit by throwing it open to all.
Whilst the truth is generally a good think not always good to hang out the dirty washing too early as it may frighten some of the possibilities away.
No idea what Martin said

KeymasterThe machine ran for another six complete wash cycles since my last message and then blew the 13 Amp fuse in the mains plug again. The fuse was replaced and there was no sign of any short circuit (pole to pole or to ground). The machine was restarted and completed the entire wash cycle without further problem. It has now completed another two wash cycles without failure. I have checked the water filter and it is clear. The fuse seems to blow during the wash agitation portion of the programme when the heater is on (although the heater works ok and the fuse blows some time after the heater has energised) – it never fails during the rinse/pump/spin cycle. When the fuse blows it fails with a thump (not a bang) which may indicate that the fault is a continuous partial overload causing the fuse to age prematurely as opposed to a dead short condition. My house is not fitted with an ELCB but I could try a plug in unit at the outlet just to eliminate earth faults.

KeymasterRe: DASA OR NOT DASA
At the moment not a lot.
Dasa has for years been going down a course of action that has seen it move away from doing things for member benefits to doing things that sound impressive and achieve F.A.
We have recently put a stop to that and Dasa will have to change to retain its present membership. If the change is not forthcoming then there are quite a few who will leave………
All this will rob Dasa of a large core of the members who actually turn up and make the decisions, so where will Dasa end up then.
Save your money at the moment……wait whilst we try to put the whole concept of Dasa back on course and in the meantime do consider coming to our meeting in July and meet face to face those of us who turn up.
PS our membership will restart in October 2004 from the AGM so you do have time to assess us first and decide with 1st hand info

KeymasterRe: diplomat 8242 dishwasher problem
hi,
My best guess is that an anti flood is operating and stopping the cycle mid way. The top basket not washing is an indication of water shortage, you may also have a blockage in the spray arms which would cause this. However if you do indeed have an anti flood problem then its an engineers call to sort out and not something I would advise you to tackle as DIY.

ted
PS..let us know your postcode so a local repairer might make himself known to you

Oops ! The first para should have read…
” Seems that the cycle had almost finished in the night because lower tray items are all perfectly clean, but upper tray items still quite dirty..”admin
KeymasterRe: Indesit W103 programme selector clicks round and round
Ah! Maybe that would have worked if the new control board even had an EEPROM installed!
So I unsoldered the one from the duff board, plugged it into the IC carrier and bobs yer uncle it worked! So anyone else with 3 flash errors on a new board – check for an EEPROM! The 8 pin IC near the large micro controller IC.
Well it does say on the packaging ‘NO EEPROM’ 🙄 Do they all come like that? And why would a parts dept sell that to an end user thinking it was a complete item? I shall be phoning them with a piece of my mind…
Anyway thanks for all the help, lets see how long it lasts 😉
