Martin, you seem to be lucky in finding these.

Is there any mileage in getting the customer to follow in the footsteps of Flaming Blue? I know for sure if I get one, I will give the customer a little encouragement.

    Re: Anglo Iberian

To be frank, I wouldn’t expect anything else.

That is exactly the way I found it when I made overtures to Graham I was not happy.

Suspect he has his head in the sand.

We now get phone calls from his service manager (Terry), asking us if we would oblige at double rate. I’ve said no because if I accept just one call, I will be deemed as an agent.

They had their chance & blew it.

    Greaseater.

The main problem is their U.K Service director. See the Brandt thread.

He treated all his longstanding agents with contempt. Sending a letter, “Date as postmark, Dear Agent etc ” basically giving every agent 1 working days notice, leaving us with outstanding affairs with them regards returns & credits etc.

If it wasn’t for the fact I was a D&G agent, to whom Brandt passed the work overnight, then I would have had a hell of a job to get the account cleared. Fortunately thanks to the intervention of D&G they finally sorted it.

Brandt can go to where the hell it likes, if it is through a company I’m already contracted to, then I will move away from the work. They also have a nasty habit of sending their own engineer when you have ordered parts on a job. Brandt dithers regards the supply, then when the customer complains, they send their own engineer at the drop of a hat, with the part, and never tell us. We find out when we get the bits arrive 3 weeks later, and the customer tells us we are rubbish, and after one phone call to Brandt she had it sorted in 2 days.

As above, Assume you guys are doing these in par?

I showed this to my son-in-law who after several attemps now can complete each one in par. I’ll have a go when I’ve got more time.

I did, but thought it inappropriate to slag AIS within that thread. If the postings there lean any further towards AIS Iwill do it. Just trying not to make it look like I’m mischiefmaking.

Alex, you’re in a prime position to have a go about this as well and these guys need to be made to think for themselves a little and not be friggin’ sheep. Do many of us actually turn in more than that in profit per annum on service alone?
    K.

Oi less of the golden oldies.

Yes I bit the bullet and terminated AIS 12 months ago. Was very reluctant, as I thought Graham was a gentleman. Therefore I tried a professional approach. 1st I voiced my concerns over the phone, took ages to get hold of him. After a few hollow promises and suggestions I got nowhere. He advised it maybe an idea to keep back all paperwork for three months and invoice at new rate, which by the way had not been announced. That made me suspicious.

Then after nothing and deadlines passing, I wrote to him and enclosed a list of who pays us what where his competitors are concerned. No answer.

Phoned a couple of times, spoke to Jan and asked G.S. to call me back, never happened.

I wrote and gave 3 Months notice, and that was that, they never even answered my letter. The vibe I got from that was, Graham is like me a businessman, and is driven by the bottom line. He like me looks at who he feels would become a casualty, and makes corporate decisions. That is what I have done.

Since the AIS days, have been approached by Maurice Lay for Caple and by CDA, better rates altogether. In addition I was doing MFI work through AIS at £6 less, as soon as the AIS option ended, the work came in direct.

AIS do not have an agent in my area now, so most of the work is hitting me direct, and I can pick and choose. Regards Caple, if it is chargeable Maurice lay give out our phone number.

The moral of the story is:- Do not let these work providers undervalue your business.

There is no point in being inordinately busy, losing quality work whilst chasing around for silly money. I don’t expect my staff to be undervalued, and I will not have it either. If they pay peanuts, they will get monkeys. I feel we have evolved into something that deserves a little more recognotion.

Next on my agenda is awork provider from the West Midlands who pay £36 electric, and a measly £38 gas, and the work is predominately range cooking.

Another thing, I don’t suffer fools gladly. If we are treated like pond life, I move on. Brandt is a case in point.

There is a thing somewhere in the forums re AIS, if it is resurrected I will paste some of the above accordingly.

    Problem is though, timing.

By the time tomorrow morning comes around when the offices and call logging world wakes up, the scroll on the right hand pane will be full of crappy questions about rinse-aid or one liners on silly jokes. Unless anyone is looking, it could get missed.

Best time for impact I think is after 11 at night, or early a.m. before 8 so there is a high profile for 1st thing in the mornin, when the real people look in.

There again only a madman would sit there banging away at 4ish, that was even after Penguin had his head tucked under his wing, and before Kevin’s stroll along the poop deck.

    Need something late thursday night.

    Re: Lofra

Dave called on me as well. only 2 weeks previously I was told uncategorically by Pushy at Lofra they were not going to pay me for a call I had done.

The story was, Via Anglo Iberian, when I was an agent, they sent a call with the part to renew a grill element, they sent the wrong one, as there was a choice. Then (lofra) refused to pay for the call as they told me I should have checked with the customer prior to the visit in whether we had the right element. So being bloody minded, I refused to call back or even return the element. I took it up with AIS but they were only a slight help, they did pay me for the initial visit, but would not cover any subsequent call, telling me the argument was with Lofra. It seemed Lofra refused to pay them as the work was incomplete. I don’t think Graham Smy was ever paid on that one.

Pushy phoned a few weeks later demanding to know why we had not seen the call though, she told me to put a 1st class stamp on the jiffy bag for the element & send it back, it was needed for another job. I told her to get real, and how can I post this with just a stamp? it wasn’t a letterbox jobby.

After she a few weeks she decided to climb down and cover the postage, as well as pay for the reurn visit, she sent the correct element. Being bloody daft, I agreed to send an engineer. We sent back the part, invoiced for postage as well as the return visit. Guess what, after 3 months, no payment. I phoned her and she refused to speak to me. So, I got one of my girls who is good at extracting money to have a try. Pushy simply told her, it was our tough, there was nothing in writing, so we weren’t getting paid. She even sent back the invoices, endorsed as non-authorised repairs.

I threatened court action, and was told again there was no way they were paying, see you in court.

After almost forgetting about it, all at once a cheque arrives, paid in full. 2 days later Tunnicliffe arrives in my office with his toothless smile, promising the earth, he tells me there is no probelm with accounts, as he is aware I’ve been settled. He hands me a disc. I bid him farewell, and drop the disk straight into the bin.

Now they are in deep shit in this area, we refuse to touch their crap, we are not an AIS agent, (I think that relationship has since ended) and I told them I don’t forget. Every time we get a fax, I send it back to them.

I was told by Mr Brock that Trubshaw was only a glorified salesman.

I didn’t take the chance, as they used to say in the News Of The World, “I made my excuses & left”.

Needless to say, I told them I was very busy, sorry cannot help.

Sorry if I’m getting personal with this Wanker. They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and I love a good argument. But to be honest this tosser is not worth my time, but I had to defend myself.

I know one thing, If I had an application from an engineer with his skill levels when it comes to the Queens English, I would not waste his or my time. I feel you need to be a cut above the rest to be a good engineer, he fails miserably the moment he tries to string 2 words together.

I hope B/Gas gets to see the traffic and figure out who he really is, assuming he is a run of the mill engineer.

    You bloody cheeky git.

No1. Don’t try and get into a slanging match with me. You will either lose or I will leave it open ended with you looking an idiot.

No 2 Caps lock is indeed shouting, which you seemed well aware of, yet made quite a point of the fact you had done it.

No 3 Yes it is a two way street. Yet when it comes to your employers poaching our staff with hollow promises, you then castigate me on these pages. I don’t know how you expected any one of us to react when we get a question that seems to be a matter B.Gas are not able to answer? The fact you are doing this on the Q.T. would not be looked at favourably by your present employers in any case.

No 4 I do have full manufacturers back up, along with many others who are active on this site. I suggest before you make wild statements as below, you do your research.

PPS ALEX I THINK YER TALKING P…S..H …

U DONT REPAIR WHEN U DONT HAVE FULL MANUFACTURERS BACK UP HA HA HA …I TAKE IT YOU DONT DO MUCH BUISNESS THEN…..
    U GUYS CRACK ME UP

The above I feel was totally uncalled for. If this is the way you deemed your previous employer prior to your present employment, then he is better off without you.

I run a business with 12 staff, working 7 days a week and I’ve been on this terminal all day dealing with accounts and other matters. Contrary to your flippant remarks, putting in such hours is due to being a manufacturer’s agent and that staff and myself are gainfully employed. In fact overworked, not as you put it, “You don’t do much business then”

I think I make myself clear, and sincerely hope I do not have the need to add any more on this issue. By the way, a few English lessons on your part wouldn’t go amiss.

    Have a Nice Day

I’m watching with interest, as with the Brandt thread.

    Agreed.

I hope that D&G will not be keeping the Brandt work.

I refused to touch Brandt, and as a result have spoiled what was a good relationship with D&G. If Brandt go to the Fagor network, I shall be phoning Lyndsay Moore and reminding her my issues were relating to Brandt alone.

Looks good for both D&G as well as their agents I suspect.

Loads of Merloni tech’s. as well as ex-Merloni

May I ask a couple of questions:-

1 Where is the support that you are supposed to enjoy from British Gas?

2 If you are successful in getting an answer from this medium, how are you going to tell your employers? I’ve been reliably informed it is a disciplinary offence to even browse these pages if you are a B.Gas employee, let alone make postings.

If one of my engineers hits a problem, he asks his colleagues, and then phones the relevant technical department of the make he is repairing.

We, being my company, make a point of not attending a product we do not have the full expertise, and most importantly the access to manufacturers back up. If that is not available to us, then we have no business attempting the job, or we can cut our losses & run. You have not got that luxury with B. Gas, which is where they take the money from the consumer, and they are obliged to come up with the goods. Their problem I’m afraid.

Sorry to sound no negative, but it tickles me pink, the likes of us are used as a training ground supply organisations like B.Gas with engineers, then we are looked upon for help. I know this does not help you as a humble engineer, but I suggest you pass the buck back to your managers; that is what they are there for!

Please do not be offended by my posting, I can see you are trying to solve a problem, and coming on here during a weekend in order to do so indicates your level of commitment in your job.

    Regards

Surely that is a job for British Gas to sort out!!

After all he is the engineer and when he reaches an obstruction, then that is what his managers are there for. (Unless of course he is one, hush my mouth)
