Re: Zanussi DCS14W Leaking..Constantly Trying To Drain

Quite simply water gets into the base, raises a little float, which in turn operates a switch which energises the pump.

No leak should be too costly to repair unless it is the motor seal leaking, and that is rare. Usual reasons are:-

1 Water inlet pipe not sealing where screwed onto the valve at the rear.

2 Nut under salt cap loose, not the salt cap itself. Very common.

3 Dishwasher has been severely tipped back or leaned over to one side, pressure water from overflow/airbreak spills into base and raises the float.

4 Overdosed with rinse-aid or used Fairy Liquid, causing foaming out the pressure chamber overflow.

Water needs to be drained from the base and left to dry, but the cause must be investigated. This current range of little dishwashers are not too bad.

Have you thought of phoning your local Service Force & see what they would charge if you took it into them? The thing is no bigger than a microwave, and a lot lighter.

    Re: DASA/UKW Meeting

It appears to me that NESN could easliy have an insider within the W.R. if we are not careful. I’m not accusing anyone as I trust the integrity of all that is in here. But if you consider we get fed from somewhere by Rudi who seems to be in the know; then what is to stop anyone whose toes he may happen to tread on, doing the same back to NESN? Even unwittingly!

I feel it isn’t good politics to go out of our way upsetting DASA members who are party to the confidentiality of the W.R. If we cut off our links with some members, we may well sever the information stream as well. However, if one or two of them have access in here, and then start complaining about certain postings in the rumour mill, maybe we need to consider their value in this room. Especially if their input is very limited, if at all.

I do have concerns though about some things leaking out of here, and the above is just a observation, or maybe just a rambling, and I am aware it is a 2 way street.

    K.

Assume you are aware that unless you chip in some back pay to cover the “lost” 12 months or so, you have to start again with DASA. Meaning re-apply for membership and take the probation period into account. At least that is how I see it.

In the same vein, I’ve just received 2 copies of Business Pages for the South West, sort of yellow pages but red cover and goes in the bin tomorrow. Anyway, there is a section showing all logos for associations and bodies etc. Takes up two pages. Guess who’s missing? You got it DASA.

    Dead Association Sadly Amiss.

As they have spat the dummy as it were, does those who no longer have an active interest in UKW yet who are allowed access to this room still have that very luxury? No need to name names, painfully obvious I think.

    Have a good weekend.

Going to sit down with a glass of malt & unwind now.

The wonders of the internet I’m afraid.

Penguin gave me the challenge when he put up his. Sussed it next day, so I decided to get in on the act.

[quote=”clivejameson…….the lady of the house says ‘don’t worry about putting it back, i’ll get my husband to do that’ :rotfl:

Then the insurance company or the husband phones next day complaining that the engineer left the machine in the middle of the room.

We had one once where the customer offered to put it back; a few days later tried to claim for floor damage, citing that had our engineer been on site, he could have assisted and the damage would not have happened.

    Don’t you just love them!!

If timer suspect, stick it on rinse/hold. if fails to move at all after 10 mins, timer. If only sticks on heating cycle, read on.

If wiring loom, wire from Pressure Switch to timer or neutral wire timer to heater broken. Wiring loom is available as a whole, I probably have one and not a bad job to do.

If heating/Stat suspect. 65 Degree stat in door. Normally open, closes on temp & initiates the timer. If fails to close before 78 deg, the one by the heater opens and heater is de-energised. No advance.

Discontinued in 1984 this thing, trip down memory lane for me.

    Re: new networks and existing.

    The plot thickens.

Had a phone call today from Mr Brock. Very affable and obliging, made it sound like they are growing at one hell of a speed and people are willing and keen to become part of their network. Looks like this lot may be unstoppable.

I hinted I’d heard of them, couldn’t remember where, and he told me there has been negative postings on a website chatroom. No shit Sherlock!!

He went on to say there is a bit of a personality clash between a senior member of that particular site, and an associate that is employed by his company. He would not mention manes, but suffice to say he could not deny one of the names was Trubshaw. We didn’t discuss the other name, Wonder who that may be??

What I’ve done is shown a little interest, but I have made it clear we are very busy and I have some reservations. He said he was willing to come & see me. Either desperate, or over sincere. I have now received the package as mentioned earlier.

Will keep you all updated, about to bugger off to the East Midlands in a bit, so may not be back until Sunday night.

I’ve still got a box full of spares for those. Had the training etc. The pioneer of this was full of enthusiasm, but it was the likes of Which doing a bad report that killed it off.

Shame really as a bit of innovation is needed in this trade to raise the profile of the product.

    Re: andy_art_trigg

    The guy is a tosser.

He slagged off my web-site and I was not best pleased. Everyone else said it was an improvement, but he made a point of demeaning the site.

I gave his comments to the lad who worked on my site, as well as a link to his. My lad was quite insulted by his comments, and pointed out loads of issues regards his site.

I told Trigger I was not pleased, and pointed out all I wanted was a cheap site, looked professional and was findable, it met all my criteria and I was happy. He was having none of it, I chose to close the issue, told him what a tosser he was, and moved on.

I do remember the no public liability isse well. In his favour though, his site gets loads of hits, and UKW picks up some traffic because of a link he has.

    Re: andy_art_trigg

Woulkd be fun to know how he finds it. We need a secure way of finding out. But we cannot do this in the War Room.

If Trigger is alowed in here, then I think the credence of this room will be diminished somewhat.

Added to that, I don’t think it a good idea to allow access to someone who is in direct employment, especially with the likes of Comet.

I see the point in gleaning useful information away from the public domain, but maybe that is a good case for the subscriber forum. Is there a way we can get him into that area or maybe something covert like the old Whirlpool thread?

Right, note the dates, now he’s gone we need to:-

    A: Slag him off

B: Find something really juicy to put onto the Rumour Mill

C: Tell him the weather here was fantastic.

D: Make out we started a lottery syndicate the day after he left for the holiday, and would you beleive it we bloody won and are all millionares.

E: Piss about with his log in to make him access denied, or send him somewhere else. That will intrigue him.

F: Anything else we can think of. It isn’t his bloody turn to go away.

And no of course we aren’t jealous.

    BTW Love Martin’s new avatar.

The details I had from them assured me would be unrestriced as I’m enjoying at present. I have actually gone for a business package with a fixed IP address.

It was trouble free to install as they sent a router modem with an ethernet connection, which I’ve put on the hub. This gives us full access from every computer in the building, except the file server which is rarely accessed.

Not cheap though, @ £40 per month.

    Yes I’m awaiting this eagerly.

Office on BT at the present speed of 512, thought that was fast. Home on 1Meg, that is fast, and now getting a free upgrade on the office one next month. Can’t be bad.

2 Meg not available where I live, as I’m in a village. Can’t moan at 1meg though.
