    Re: No strings attached!

The make referred to is Samsung. I was sworn to secrecy as John Dugdale of Service Force thinks he is in the running as well.

Can I suggest nobody lets this on to anybody at Service Force Slough.

Funny that I had a similar call. They said they wanted to avoid a repeat of the Brandt fiasco.

I’m sworn to secrecy what make they had in the pipeline. Laundry only, no cooking or refirigeation products.

I’ve done a little research into this whisky thing, well someone had to & I thought I’d volunteer.

Avoid any that says pure malt, it is a blend of malts. O.K. but not the real thing. Famous Grouse is for the tourists. Of the popular ones, Glenmorangie & Glenfiddich aren’t bad but is down to individual taste.

Try & look for an Island one, and definitely Single Malt. Talisker is good and if you can get it, Laphroaig. 17years is a good age on most, but you would be hard pushed to tell if it was a 12 year old.

Do not add anything, I get strange looks when I decline water/ice etc. Whats the point of having the stuff if you are going to dilute it.

If anyone north of the border can give us some more ideas, then I’m willing to beta test them and review accordingly.

If you fancy a bit of the Irish, try Bushmills.

I know one thing, if you have good engineers, don’t loose them, you will be hard placed to replace them. This is based on local knowledge and I can only assume it’s national.

    Dave.

Dead right there Dave. I was lucky as being Ex Electricity Board, some of their old staff came over when the South Western Board sold out to Norweb/Comet, these guys thought they knew me. As well as that I picked up some casualties from National Homecare. The timing was good as all that was going on as we were growing.

Now we cannot compete with the big boys such as Brit. Gas or Comet who pay loads. They are no doubt supported by sales of finished goods and or services like insurance etc. All we can rely on is the trifling amount as paid by warranties, insurance companies and work providers.

Getting staff against that competition is difficult, as you can testify. I don’t envy anyone who is trying to build up a business in this field now. Just reading some of the horror stories in here is enough to put anyone off.

As long as you promise this one isn’t in a shared area. 50204873009 £17.33 retail + vat If it is in one of our shared postcodes then I know I can trust you not to read that number.

    Have a nice day.

I’ve promised myself I would stay out of this debate. Being a Service Force agent, I thought I may compound the issue. (Conflict of Interest and all that).

I am squirming in my seat at what I’m reading.

I have to say I’ve read the above and I think some of the shenanigans that are taking place are outrageous. How can a work provider do this and think they are getting away with it. If it wasn’t for this site, there would be a lot of blood on the carpet.

Keep fighting the cause folks. This is for the industry as a whole, not just the poor agents trying to carry out the Coverplan work for the aforementioned companies.

Beat me across the head if this is a silly idea.

Is it possible or feasible to get the media involved in any way? It would make a bloody good story for BBC2’s blood on the floor series or perhaps some hack who wants to make a name for himself. If so, it ought to be a case of someone who knows someone if you see what I mean.

If there is a risk of subjudicy regards anything pending, then maybe not.

As I said shoot me down in flames if I’m talking bollocks.

I’m bloody glad I turned NESN away at £42

No change there then. As I have always said, like a 1970’s union meeting. I’d expect them to call each other Brother!

We use Bayford fuels, seen as diesel direct outside of garages. The price you pay is set all over the country as the same rate and is competitive.

You may find the outlets a bit thin on the ground in some areas, but if the engineer cares to look at his dials and see when he is getting low, then he should be able to manage. (easier said than done)

And have you seen the number of hits today?

    Right, an update for you:-

Beko, Steve Clarke looked at the site over the weekend. Was spitting blood regards Beko, as he had heard bugger all, and didn’t suspect a thing. The great thing is, when he opened his e-mails this morning and played off his voice mail, all he had was the Beko thing, from all over the country. He was grateful for the site as it had told him what to expect.

IDSA, yes I’m not surprised. When Richard was a S.F. agent he was an active contibutor to a previous site very similar to this one, sadly that site is no longer with us.

Crosslee, I note Steve Donovan hasn’t responded to my challenge. I don’t expect him to. Flipper will probably agree, they are always on the lookout, It is the gas dryer that keeps them on stream with S.F. I think.

I for one wouldn’t miss either Beko or Crosslee. Chargeable calls for these are almost nil, and in both cases support is zero.

Personally, have heard no repurcussions regards NESN as not being an agent, I’m out of the loop on that one.

A very valid point regards Mutual respect If Beko have decided to seek alternatives then it would have been a bloody good Idea if they told someone. Everyone I’ve spoken to at Service Force has expressed, genuine surprise at this.

I have today received a copy of the letter and forwarded it to the relevant body. The supplier of the confirmation is not a user of this site, so if anyone is put out by the fact Service Force have this in writing, by all means speak to me.

There has been talk regards Crosslee, I’ve not taken that too seriously as I know it is normal for Steve Donovan to keep “Lots of Irons in the Fire”.

    Steve

I’m glad to see Steve Donovan has made it ot this medium. We aren’t seeing much of Manufacturers or Work Providers on here. Such input would be valuable as it will balance the view somewhat. We are quick enough saying our piece as service agents, but it would be nice to see some postings from the other side of the fence. I’d like to see this as a consultation forum, not a trade union.

Can I ask Steve on behalf of my fellow Service Force agents where we stand in this? Are the rumours in fact truth? if so nobody at Slough seems to be aware of it. It would be appreciated if perhaps we could be advised where Crosslee are heading regards service. If we lose confidence in keeping the work, there is a risk that our standards may drop, nothing to lose as it were.

    In anticipation.
