    Re: Subscription?

Must admit I’m a tad confused, probably due to age.

I have had the same, and yes I’m ready to pay. Do I assume the old regime of subscribers’ forum is absorbed by the UKW Trade Association?

Any chance of resurrection? I liked being part of an elite group, and miss the fine distinction that was within that area.

e-mailed to Mark Ridler, Paul Brooks & Margaret Papworth today…..

    Just to advise.

Due to the unrest with A.I.G. and the fact they owe me money I have instruced my staff that ALL A.I.G. claims are on a pay & claim basis.

Sorry if this compromises any relationships, however after many years of doing this, I try not to compromise my bank account.

Candy Covercare, early 80’s was the 1st time i saw this unfolding.

P.E.S.N. were to follow, then Powerhouse administered by Marsh, who refused to cover or honour agreements.

Difficult times. I’ve already put AIG on a Pay & Claim basis as they owe me in any case.

    Re: Greatest movie moments

That scene from Once upon a time in the West, incredible film which I remember watching for the 1st time in 1969 at the local flea pit. Seen it loads of times since. Stereo was unheard of ecept in the Cinema, and of course the music was mindblowing. Nobody said a word as we all filed out at the end.

Currently enjoying a re-run on Sky at the moment, and I sat through it again on saturday night.

Now I’m going to shatter the illusion. Look at the Harmonica closely. At one stage it is pristine, Henry Fonda passed it over, and in good condition. Seconds later when in the mouth of the boy, bent top left, then cut from the scene & back, bent bottom right. Cut away again, back & pristine again. Finally after being dropped, back to bent. More noticeable on the big screen. What a pity that moving sequence was ruined by a simple continuity error.

Best movie scene. Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, getting the barman to dance by means of his gun.

Not to mention, Stoning scene in Life of Brian, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erthun0Pauc

Or the Sheriff is a Nnn! from Blazing Saddles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcZ9ku_wInw

I don’t get it, we are very busy and I am seriously considering taking on another engineer.

Problem is, they don’t seem to be out there.

    Re: Dragon’s Den

I often catch Dragons Den, even if the item fails to get their backing, quite often someone else who is watching takes it up.

A case in point is a night-lite that has a recharged removable top that doubles up as an emergency torch in the event of a power cut. Thrown out by the dragons, yet snapped up by Home-Tek. Now promoted in ERT.

2 Successes I can think of, “Reggae Reggae” sauce and the “Choc-Block” connector.

Claim to fame, I remember Debbie Meaden growing up. Her family lived in and around Minehead.

Blimey, must be dearer to live in Somerset, I’d never offer such a low rate of pay, if I did I’d not have any takers.

    Re: comp horsepower

Look at the rating plate for the watts consumed. Divide by 746 and you get a rough H.P. I know the heater is included, but the plate should give the total power consumed at any given time, and ideally the d/f heater won’t be on at the same time as the compressor. In any case you err on the side of caution. The lamp is usually 15w if you want to be precise.

Bryans chart as above is a good yardstick.

Re: Payment Issues & Other Problems

Must admit, easier to state who does support you & pay with no trouble rather than the opposite. Too many to name, and too many I’ve said good-bye to over the years due to issues.

Contrary to an earlier posting, Service Force O.K. but then I’ve grown up with the regime.

Beko very good, and Connect excellent.

    That is it!

    Re: Repaicare Win Baumatic Service

Whole appliance does not include any more spares, if you fit a motor this week, and pump fails in another 2 weeks, you lose out on labour only.

Try being a manufactures agent, Crosslee & E/Lux 60 days, Beko, LG & Gorenje 90 days. All insurance companies 30 days, and if you fit a part on insurance you have to guarantee the bit for 12 months, and you were probably forced to sell it back at a huge discount. Try fitting an element to a cooker, then 10 months later another element goes, they take no notice of a different description/location or part number, they see the word Element & reject wholseale.

All I can say is Baumatic were a shambles, at least we will now get support, the right parts and paid, none of which we “enjoyed” before.

If you are thinking Steve Clarke ex E/Lux now Bosch etc. No!

Steve’s log in is different, and he has never posted on UKW. If you were wondering someone else, I didn’t get the inference.

Whoever it may be asked an innocent question the other day re a hotpoint F/F so I imagine just a punter.

Probably Kevin Moat waiting for you to pounce.

    K.

Well thanks to the “Flowery Stuff” most of his readership will switch off part way through. I didn’t plough through it all.

His post has ended up at the end of a page in any case, so any new browsers will come in a page later, and probably won’t bother to track backwards. As an experienced poster if I want to get a ball rolling, I try & place anything contentious where a page seems to look like it is full, that way will be at the top of a fresh page & be visible for a few days/weeks.
