    Re: Sealed Tubs

I was trying to look out some model numbers, but the info is a bit scratchy at the moment. The pictures on all current production machines show split tubs, but sealed are arriving.

I was in the Factory in Porcia 2 weeks ago, and I can confirm all laundry is now being produced with a sealed tub. That is the new “HEC” range with a removable front, as well as the split cabinet we have seen for the last 16 years. Ironic really, as soon as they produce a removable front so the engineer can be looking at the bolt heads, they do away with them.

We are now finding if we order a tub front, or tub rear on some of the older split cabinet models, we get a sealed tub/drum. Need to replace the rear weight in some cases as they don’t fit the new tub.

So, we get insurers telling us to keep costs down and fit bearings, and now it is a whole tub change. If fixed priced servicing takes off, it will cost repairers a bomb.

We already have had 2 U/G with a bra wire trapped that wont come out.

Seems to be the trend these days, and the waste mountain will get even higher.

    Re: Whirlpool price increase 😈

What about this one then, as on the Connect site, so you need to allow for their little bit.

Whirlpool 481225998465 Circular Element SRP £70.49. It is only a bog standard element. How do they justify that one?

We are being priced out of the market-place. Add a labour fee, try and charge that price as retail, and you are touching £150 if you are Vat registered. It just doesn’t stack up.

This must be set by those that think as the sales are down, they can capitalise on the repairs & spares, failing that, the consumer will replace the product. Have they considered the fact that said consumer will not be brand loyal. In most cases this oven comes with the house as built in.

I’m booked. Daughter used to live in Federation Street just round the corner, familiar territory for me.

Interesting part of Manchester, in fact technically in Bury. Good for people watching, and you can almost draw a line where Prestwich ends and Cheetham Hill starts.

There used to be a smashing Italian restaurant called Lagaccio about a mile down the road at the junction of Scholes lane, does anyone know if it still there?

See you on the Thursday night.

    Re: Vehicle Tracker

    Oh! I only asked.

The passion on this one is incredible, and yet not one employed engineer has felt the need to complain bitterly. I feel that those that do may well have something to hide. I would not be permanently spying, I would read the printouts and if there was a trend, then would show an active interest.

Running a busy office we are getting a fair few customers calling to ask whereabouts, and then find the engineer is unreachable, or dare I say it phone is off because he is fed up with being bothered.

Advantage to engineer; he had a pig of a day, on the running order he only had 7 jobs, and very little mileage, but he asks for an hour’s overtime as he got home late, and I go “Oh Yeah”. With tracker, he has a case.

Another advantage to the engineer; say he started early that day, and another call comes in for the area we suspect he may well still be in; so we promise Mr Smith “He’s in the area, and he can fit you in later today”. Phone engineer, poor area, finally get him at 4.30 and he is well away from where we thought he was. If the weather is good, some are on the road very early in the Summer to miss the holiday traffic. Tracker can confirm this.

Another point that was made to me on this, a team with varying skills and performance, there could be one guy persistantly taking the Michael. The other lads are aware of it, dare not say too much to management, and feel they are carrying someone who maybe are undermining the company, and yet is on the same pay.

Customer is out, insists we failed to wait for her. Look at the log, engineer was sat outside for 15 minutes.

Advantages to me, goes without saying. However, despite Martins statement of nobody hearing you in space. Being web based, and the fact I leave the office late in the day, I can quickly look and see who if anyone is still on the road. I would give him a reassuring phone call to see if all is well.

Have priced it up, some are without capital investment, and are about £30 per month per Vehicle. At the moment only considering it though.

    Hmmmmm

Think we have already been generous & given him the benefit of the doubt, and a chance to redeem himself.

May I suggest if not concluded satisfactorily by 1st post Monday we suspend this repairer from Repairs@. Of couse we need to notify him accordingly, and I suggest we do that on Monday.

He has admitted getting it wrong by agreeing to refund etc. So there is no case for his defence.

    Re: Service Power

    Back to Service Power.

Had a visit today from some Guy called Roger House, guess who he used to work for, yes you got it, Powerhouse.

Anyway, he chats away shows me the computer logging system and after ensuring I’m not an NESN agent asks if I’d like to be one of their appointed agents. He tells me who they do work for and they are second tier repairers for some national service agencies.

He shows me the pricing structure and assures me all invoices are addressed and paid on time as long as jobs are completed 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct and there are no issues. (They all say that) and of course as long as KPI’s are up to date. Oh Yeah!

So, I say I will make some phone calls to existing agents to see if they are Kosher, and he gives me the list of their approved repairers, some interesting names on there, but I will not divulge that information to anyone. Now it looks like my name may be on the next list. Read on……….

No sooner had his brake lights gone on as he left our car-park, and I get a phone call from a UKW member welcoming me to the S.P. Network. Blimey, that was quick, and I haven’t even signed anything.

Now I’ve been hung as a sheep instead of a lamb, I will trial them for 3 months, and report accordingly in this forum. I suspect they have very little in the way of work in any case.

As Dave says, they will issue a credit note at Zero.

Another one, make a note of all parts you send back and the reason. They have a habit of taking their 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} even when they have exchanged the product, or not paying you at all on a Special item where the 6 week rule has kicked in.

Once you send it back, you are stuffed, and you won’t be able to “use” it on another call.

They will blame an admin error and hope it will slip through your system.

Re: Zanussi ZSA 10 Built in Oven

    1) Open door fully, twist the 2 discs on the hinges clockwise as far as they will go with a 20p coin. If you twist the wrong way, the door will still come out, but will be a pig to get back.

    2) Attempt to close the door and you will feel resistance and the door sill be trying to let go at the bottom. Go to instruction 3, don’t be hasty.

    3) Hold the door at the 2 sides at approx half way & attempt to lift up and out at the same time, the hinges will then release. Don’t force it.

That is it, put the door onto a worktop & do what you have to do.

Reverse the procedure, refit the door and tease the floppy lower retainers into the acceptors in the frame. Do that by putting your fingers under the door and lifting the lower hinge bits back into the acceptors.

Drop the door to the fully open position, and release the discs with the coin.

Finally, sit down & have a coffee.

A man had great tickets for the world cup final. As he sits down, another man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the empty seat next to him.

“No,” he says. “The seat is empty.” “This is incredible!” says the man. “Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the world cup final, the biggest sporting event, and not use it?”

“Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first world cup final we haven’t been to together since we got married.

“Oh…..I’m sorry to hear that. That’s terrible. But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend or a relative, or even a neighbour to take the seat?”

The man shakes his head. “No. They’re all at the funeral….”

If you follow the users instruction book on how to remove the whole door assy with hinges, it will all become obvious.

The door is designed to be taken off by the user for easy access to the rear of the oven for cleaning.

    Re: Subscribers spares deals

Would a trade spares website that you can buy from linked directly from UKW be of interest ?

I like the idea of buying from the above. Might not be as easy for me because all my stock movements & orders are linked to whatever programme/agency we are dealing with. Therfore due to logistics I prefer to keep it that way, otherwise there is double keying. I do however by in bulk on special offers every now and then.

    Re: Your input please

    Ditto with John.

They either got it wrong, or there is a subsequent leak from the fitting of the compressor. Internal leaks dont appear on their own, especially just after system work.

I strongly suspect the leak is following their visit. We all make mistakes, but I have to say the repairer needs to take this one on the chin. If he retails he could get a sale out of it. To be fair to him, he has made an effort. If you consider 3 recalls to date, and the sundries he is on a loser in any case.

Time for him to close the job down and move on.
