    Re: How smug…

Stopped in Feb 1980. Smoked 30 a day for 15 years, and enjoyed every one. Rumour was Geoffrey Howe in his 1st budget was going to whack the tax up, making a packet of 20 sell at £0.50, yes half a quid. How much are they now?

Started in the mid 60’s when it was fasionable, and all the stars smoked. Beatles, Stones, James Bond etc. (Some of whom didn’t stay with cigarettes).

After the first 3 days without, I realised I’d nearly cracked it. But for at least 10 years I always felt I was 20 minutes away from my next one.

It is nice to taste your food, not stink like an ash tray, and not feel like a leper as it is so antisocial. Put on 2 stone though.

This is why I cannot get my head round the fact that Glen Dimpex are hadling the Beko, yet passing on the Lec to me.

Suppose there is a chance the whole of the overflow is likely to go to Service Power. They will need to set up an account and guarantee to buy £30k per year in order to get bits.

    All good fun

I saw it earlier & gave Martin a nudge by p.m.

Thought It was me being old fashioned, but Martin agreed with me & was keeping an eye out for him.

    Re: Service Power

Glen Dimplex are talking to Service Power to manage some of their work in areas where they have a shortfall and poor cover. Apparently they are offering about £34 odd per call, and £40 for gas.

I didn’t tell you this though.

    Re: Top Gear

What about last week & the R-plate S Class where they converted the interior Jezza style. Leaded windows, slate tiles on the floor pan, floor-boards in the drivers footwell, log stove and winged armchairs. With all that Clarkson couldn’t fit in it.

A new version of Pimp my Ride, I liked the way Richard Hammond said it was Anne Hathaways cottage on wheels. 0-60 in god knows what, you don’t need a stop-watch, you need a calendar.

The 3 conversions to amphibious cars the week before was the funniest I’d ever seen though.

    Re: Miller Bros…… administration?

From the offices of Service Force yesterday, Tues 30th May.

Have spoken to IGI this morning who assure me that the policies are fully underwritten by themselves and that the trading position of the company will have no impact on the administration of the schemes.

    Only time will tell.

I was reliably informaed that all the troops have had the full 2 week LEC training course, then they made Dave Ponsford redundant. Nice.
    K.

More than rumour I can tell you. I had a tip-off back at the end of last year.

Dave Posford & Jim Wild both knew in February they were going. At that stage Dave hadn’t been asked to do any training.

I used to speak to Dave a lot, and there were days that all they done was sat in Bognor & drank coffee. In the meantime Glen Dimplex were learning the hard way when it came to refrigeration. I seem to recall Hoover/Gias done the same! (Remember them)

Ken Hart from Beko is not at all happy as he can anticipate that they will get it wrong big time, and when they find they cannot manage the cock-ups, they will be back. Part of the contract is to manage the customer in-house.

The reason that they are not passing on the Beko work is because on a Lec call they pay me £40 per job. The Beko rates were budgeted by EAC and were far too low, therefore Glen Dimplex are trying to keep the cost to a minimum by getting their own guys to manage the work out of season.

It may all end in tears!

    Re: Corporation Tax.

Yearly bonus? I assume you mean Dividends.

If you pay yourself a wage over and above £100 p.w. then expect to be on PAYE. You will be subject to tax on your dividends, but a lower rate.

The corporation tax is the tax on the business profits, whether you pocketed them yourself or put in the bank. There is still a liability.

    Theyv’e got you all ways.

    GOOD NEWS-

Wayne Rooney will be playing in the world cup providing he has a cortisone injection.

    BAD NEWS-

David Beckham will pull out if he can’t have the same car.

Re: The 5 star award for the very best rubbish on the market

    What timing……

Look at the time I posted this & I’ve been on this nearly all day. We have access to the Samsung Web-site, and some of the models are not known and on others there are no piccies.

We have only had 4 of these since Monday, and all 4 we were no further forward on until I posted on the site earlier and Dave C came back with some results.

We have looked at 2 machines that have the same model number, in each case different engineers were sent, and with no model details so they would look at the plate. Seems like they both dreamt they looked at an SR-L2928B. So drawn a blank there.

Nobody pays us for the time wasted on this, all we get for our efforts from the customer… “Well it is not good enough”

Of the 4 one was chargeable, and if I get nowhere tomorrow, I will tear her cheque up and suggest she tries someone else, as we have failed miserably. This customer was disgusted we did not have a fridge D/F element on the van. People like that I can do without!

    Re: MFI Refrigeration

I asked the questions today, as I anticipated a flow of refrigeration calls. My regional manager is Bernie Seaman who has been away, and as far as he was concerned the work had been allocated and was in hand, he gave nothing away though.
