ParticipantRe: any advice on attracting new work?
I started doing it about 7 years ago when one of the estate agents asked if I did it, so I went on the course quite boring but guaranteed income

I do a lot of pat testing which seems to fill the gap left by dwindling repairs

Can’t see it being a problem. Would love to get a few call on those things again

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
My daughter asked me to pop into the salon she works in today as dryer wasn’t working.
She had no idea which make it was so I went in this morning, there tucked away in amongst discarded boxes and rolls of open wallpaper I saw it, a vented Indesit obviously on the list, looking a little more into it I pulled it out a little to find no vent hose and fluff absolutely everywhere. My daughter was told in under no circumstances to go anywhere near it and I’ve advised them to go and get a condenser dryer
So the message obviously isn’t getting out to everyone.March 17, 2016 at 5:15 pm in reply to: Spray Arms not turning at all on Lamona 8670 (Beko make) #436259Andy jones

My big concern is people who are only after all the press releases starting to clean filters regularly. There must have a build up near the heater but think they are safe.

The advice from Whirlpool during this safety recall fracas is ‘clean lint filter after every load, don’t leave it unattended’ but no mention of the potential fire risk that could occur if they turn it off mid cycle? Maybe just maybe many fire incidents are due to that scenario?
I’ve been banging on about this to customers for years and most take no notice,

They could’ve come out smelling of roses instead of the stuff that feeds them 🙂

Struggling to understand why they didn’t just do that in the first place, does anyone know how much on average it’s costing to do the mod. Can’t be that much difference between that and the cost of a new dryer

My point was that all the kits I’ve ever fitted say it’s a one shot device and haven’t seen anything to say any different
All dryers with resettable stats have some sort of press button.
Of course you have to find out the reason, has anyone got a kit where it says it’s a reset stat ??
Also wondering is it possible by pushing a pin into it that it could damage the stat rendering it uselessAndy jones

Agree with Johnny. It’s called a one shot device for a reason
