ParticipantRe: At what point does one walk out on a job…..
Just had a call from a customer, I fitted an inner door glass on a beko early 2014, she’s managed to break it again and was wondering if it’s still under warrant. Nearly burst out laughing on the phone

If they are purely training them to do the mod and not how the dryer actually works properly than its only going to be a recipe for disaster.

Went to a zanussi machine to fit a door seal a couple years back. He had control panel, complete front and balance weight off and still couldn’t fit the damn thing. He looked on in amazement when I had the seal on in about a minute, although took another 20 to put it all back together. He was even more gutted when I told him it can be done easily just from the door

Martin wrote:A simple, more effective ‘mod’ that is never ever going to be troubled by lint and solves the problem of the lint on filter scenario is to simply replace the heater unit. And fit in its place the infra red type (for example, as used in the Whirlpool and the Slovenian made Bosch dryer).
They only give out ‘black heat’ and heat convection is increased thanks to the use of metal fins surrounding the element coil. There is sufficient space in the existing ducting to accommodate the slightly larger space required for this type of heater.
It makes me chuckle to think that Whirlpool concentrated on solely eliminating lint build up on the existing style heater. When what they should have fitted is the type of heater they have use for years so effectively on their own brand of dryer.
Oh the comedy of it all…!
Was going to post exactly the same martin. Of course maintenance must be maintained but a solid state style heater like whirlpool use on some of their dryers would surely eliminate the problem

I did say an option :innocent:
Cheaper than buying a tub and fitting it yourselfAndy jones
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint washing machine bearings
Another option would be to call HOTPOINT and use the 5 year parts warranty

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
It’s something I’ve always said when asked. Safe or not I won’t tell a customer it’s perfectly safe to leave an appliance running when out, other makes have been known to catch fire, machines can flood etc etc
I appreciate the point about boilers fridges etc but for me minimising the chances is for the bestAndy jones
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
I would never advise any appliance being left on unattended neither would the fire service. They need to be telling people that
