Surely if there is a problem with condenser cooling it will affect the freezer temp too, not just the fridge?

Re: Ariston Margherita A1535 – Problem – Urgent Help Require

If the motor is trying to turn (buzzing quietly) but not succeeding you almost certainly have a faulty motor. It is possible that the module may not be supplying enough current but it is probably the motor (armature fault).

With this type of fault it will probably spin OK (full current).

    Many thanks for that Jim

    Very informative.

There is no improvement in the modules then! Why am i not suprised?

I expect that they still use the ‘exclusive to model’ eeprom’s?

Re: How much to charge for parts?

I never even bother working on a profit on spares basis. I just decide what i want out of the job and add the direct cost of spares and travel.

If the customer wants a breakdown (which is almost never in my experience as they are usually happy with the price) i just give them a callout & labour figure which sounds good and the remainder is the cost of spares etc.

Its quick and easy and has worked for me no probs for lots of years.

Hi – I do not suspect a problem with the baffle i just wanted to know the full extent of it’s open position.

The problem is the usual freezer OK but high fridge temp. The fan is running OK so i was just checking the baffle was open (which it is) so concluded a tube blockage. It is now defrosting for 24hrs.

Bob thanks for the baffle test tip that could be handy

    Thanks gentlemen for your replies

Re: Creda W200FW Door locked light flashing

When the door interlocks blow on these machines they often take out the triac that drives them. This is a surface mounted device on the extreme lower right of the board (tracks side up and edge connectors facing you). These triacs are black and about 4mm x 7mm (there are 5 of these on the board that drive the pump, valves & interlock). They are fairly easy to replace with a gas powered iron fitted with a hot air tip and some fine solder. It is a 5 min job. I have done quite a few of these with a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate. Very occasionally the transistor that sits behind this triac may go faulty, this is much smaller and a bit more difficult, but with patience possible.

CPC do a nice SMD rework kit PN: SD00694 @ £22.50 + VAT this includes some pointed tweezers which are great for handling the little suckers.

Also a bottle of low residue flux (liquid) PN: SD00085. £5.86 + VAT

You can use solder paste but a fine solder PN: SD00071 £3.83 + VAT is OK.

For parts scrap a WMA board this will give you 5 interlock repairs alone!

A drop of flux and quick blast with the hot air tip and the old componant will lift off. A drop of flux on the pads, drop the replacement triac in position and a quick re-heat to run the solder. The triac will centralise itself on the pads. Then apply a bit of solder if required. Bung it back in the machine with a new interlock – sorted. Stick £20 or whatever extra on the bill for the module repair and receive customers hero worship for saving them £XX for a new module.

No luck getting it off. It just broke into pieces. They are too brittle and too tight on the shaft. Little bar stewards.

I have just changed one of these motors but i have found that the magnets are very difficult to get off without breaking. I will try and retrieve the old motor tomorrow and have a go.

OK Kevin – Sorry for asking so many questions, i know i must be a pain in the neck, but i just like to understand why things are like they are.

I really do hope it all works out OK for the ISE project, honest!

Re: 5 Year Parts and Labour Warranty

There is one thing that i do not understand. Why is D & G involved in this at all?

Why if the customer decides that they would like the extended warranty after the twelve months is this not done through ISE Ltd as it would have been had they taken the 5 + 5?

Re: 5 Year Parts and Labour Warranty

OK. Please can you tell us how much the 4 year extended warranty from D & G will cost for the ISE machine should a customer desire to purchase it.

The reason i am asking is so that some members might compare it as a possible alternative to the 5 + 5. (A sensible answer might help to sell more machines).

    Thank you.

That work will in turn come back to ISE and be passed to agents as a extended labour call. This work will be paid @ £60.00 plus Vat although ISE will charge D&G £65.00 plus Vat. We will offset our admin charges by retaining £5.00 per call. Kevin

Hi – Have you any idea how much the 4 year extended warranty from D & G will cost?
