    .

They were “pretty good” about 10 years ago but they still sell them now and they are almost totally out of date and next to useless now. They contain instructions on how to strip a Hoover motor and drum bearings (the old 1100’s) and how to strip and repair a pump etc. They have little information useful for any washing machine made in last 10 years.

They are still specific enough in the sence that they give step by step instructions and photos K. They may avoid being specific on the electrical side a bit, but someone could still forget to unplug machine before working on it for mechanical faults or otherwise injure themselves. I expect they are just covered by insurance.

It can’t be copyright infringement to sell a product that’s produced by them specifically for sale. only to copy them.

Hmmm. I’ve never seen anything in one that says, “not to be sold to members of public” or similar. Also, wouldn’t the writers of the manual be responsible as it’s “their” instructions” that were being followed?

    This is another minefield innit?

    Thanks K.

The thing that sparked this off again was a query from a customer. I’ve posted a question regarding that here obsolete spare question

Fitted one yesterday and it reduced the noise considerably. The replacement belt was THINNER than the original though. I’m still puzzled as to why you need to change the belt. Anyone got any ideas?

It seems the majority of non payers are not doing it not becuase they dont want to pay more that they read the letter/invoice and put it to one side, till they buy a stamp etc. It costs me the price of a stamp but its well worth it , I think anyway.
Cannot beat payment up front though.

Spot on. This is what I realised many years ago and it definitely works. I always left a stamped addressed envelope with any customer that didn’t pay for whatever reason. This ridiculously small and inexpensive “trick” worked virtually every time. I concluded like you, that most of the non or late payment was because they couldn’t be arsed to buy a stamp or find and address an envelope.

Martin LMAO at that letter. 🙂 very funny.

    Re: MSN Messenger

I used to use Yahoo messenger about 3 years ago. I guess I got adicted to it, made lots of women friends online, stayed up till gone 2 in the mornings. Stayed talking on it all moring and into afternoons when I should have been doing repairs. Often ignored me phone when customers rang as I was in a world of me own and didn’t want to come back to reality. Drank copious amounts of Barcardi & Coke, talked to 6 or 7 women all at once… It was great, nearly ruined me marriage and lost lots of business though. Be careful guys!

    🙂

Big issue? We is just havin’ a chat 😉
I tend to sell about 10 – 20 a week so I’m keen on good prices. Mind you I’m surprised they are still in demand.

    Re: Cheapest Genuine HPT carbons?

AHHHHHHHHHHHH BUT DO U KNOW THEY ARE ORIGINAL???????????????

Basically all machines over a certain age had black orginally, the white have been dominent for a long time now so I was really meaning what I used to do several years back. Back then all were black apart from the newer 1200 ‘s.

PS. As a matter of interest when you fit carbons using these type of carbons and holders do you remove the motor or do them from the front with the machine leaned back?

I lay the machines on their back if the hoses allow it. otherwise I lol it back against the wall or worktop.

    Re: Cheapest Genuine HPT carbons?

I replace like for like. if the originals were black I put black in if the originals are laminated I put laminated in. Occasionally I’ve replaced black ones with laminated ones for heavy users but at the end of the day, the black ones don’t last as long 😉

andy_art_trigg wrote:I had quite a few when the armature was perfectly OK. I eventually fitted the old black ones instead which I reasoned was better than having the armature knackered up by the laminated brushes or having to fit a new motor.

BTW I meant on a couple that I had more than 1 recall with new laminated brushes burning the plastic – not that I resorted to replacing all laminated brushes with old black ones 🙂

Thanks guys. I’ll see if the missus thinks it’s worth the money to get some of the functions back. The only one I miss is “Reheat:Plated” which I used to use to reheat me tea properly. That fuction has just disappeared.

Thanks Bryan. Do you mean it’s not a fault likley to happen? I don’t have an account with them so would they charge me retail? It wouldn’t be viable to open an account just for the one part.

It’s not that the touch panel doesn’t respond as such, it’s more that it either displays options from a different button or it cycles through some of the buttons options but misses some out.

    thanks
