Re: Bosch WFT8440GB/01 washer drier fill fault.

He wants the job done!!! 😯 😯 😯
Next question; what is the easiest way to access the PCB – back or front of the machine? I tried to remove it the other day working from the back and I couldn’t move it much at all due to the short wiring.
    Any tips?

    Thanks,

    Steve.

Faulty or earthing motor can cause rapid advance of the timer. Worth checking the pressure system and filter are clear as well. 😉

    Hope that helps,

    Re: WEEE & Recycling

I’m sure I have read somewhere that if you collect a machine from a customer (or take the defective part with you as you leave a completed job) you would need to hold a Waste Carrier’s Licence and have a designated way of disposing of the product. (both at your expense, of course).
If that is true, then that has huge implications for us as a trade. I can’t even get into my local council tip with hedge cuttings because I brought them along IN A VAN….!! :eeek: :eeek:
That means if you change a Hotpoint WMA tub half, being plastic, (and the “wrong type of plastic” for Dorset) you may have to keep it and leave it to your kids as a family heirloom!!!!
I take my dead machines (not fridges) to the local scrap metal merchant at the moment – does that avenue cease to exist under WEEE?? Does anyone know?
98{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my customers are completely unaware of any such regulations being implemented; even the ones using Ecover detergent. :snigger:
It confirms my belief that the government collectively couldn’t run a bath let alone a country like the UK. :rolls: :clown:
    Some clarity is URGENTLY needed!!!

    Re: Would you buy Remploy

This subject is closely linked to the ‘WEEE directive’ posting (General Trade Forum). If what Ken says is right, the WEEE means it’s the end of the road for the recon trade anyway!
I’ve encountered some “reconditioned” machines from these outlets in the recent past. Now, as Nationalhomecare says, a true ‘recon’ is a strip down and rebuild; ground up; anything worn, change it scenario. These machines are simply “repaired secondhand” at best. A bona fide recon today is not a viable proposition due to the cost of spares – and the fact that the manufacturers’ short production life of each model makes the designs date very quickly.
I gave up recons 4 years ago concluding that, given the time and care I was taking with each machine and honouring the guarantee, the customer got a fantastic product. BUT….. in ££’s per hour, I’d would’ve been financially better off with a paper round!! :bang:

    Thanks, guys!! 😀
The model number on the heading banner was correct – but on the description – well, erm….ahh….. it was late and…. :rolls:
I’ll look into that triac failure thingy – shame to write off such a good quality machine. (even though the PCB’s a nightmare to get out!!).

    Thanks again!!

There is power to the valve at all times; even on the ‘X’ marker. Unplugged the valve and the machine functioned perfectly – oh dear, time to break the bad news – board is £140 + VAT cost!! 😯 😯

    Thanks, Chris! 😀

EMW on (01159) 652118 and ask Tony. Loud clicking would suggest jammed internals or thermostop chatter; but not to blow a new unit. Did the heater check out OK? Or maybe just a duff new timer! :rolls:

    Hope that helps,

Hope someone can help with these……. 😕
Who are Caple anyway? Who makes them? I am seeing more and more of their appliances in use everyday.
Any help at all will be much appreciated!!!

    Thanks,

Rosieres is part of GIAS international – ie: Candy/ Hoover group. Qualtex were able to obtain the parts I required relatively easily.
But – be prepared for absolutely stratospheric prices! :eeek: :eeek: :eeek:

    Re: Dodgy Hotpoint WM 52

I bet he bypassed the lock as the initial fault was probably the interlock having blown the neutral supply tracks on the timer.
I had this on a Hotpoint 9901 w/d a few years back – elderly lady customer complaining of an ‘electrical tingling sensation’ when she wiped the machine worktop after use. The machine was under 3 weeks into its 3 month warranty, but the trader had refused to go and repair it again. (he had already been twice before and told her quite bluntly to stop fussing!)
The interlock had been bypassed and the amp tags had been loosely slotted together end to end: touching the inside of the cabinet front panel – no insulation whatsoever!! :eeek: The only thing between the wires and the metal body was the paint. 😯
I unplugged the machine, taped up the plug, and told her not to use it and report it to Trading Standards. Surely it must be an offence to deliberately disable a safety device fitted by a manufacturer as original equipment?
How do these people still continue to trade unchecked? Moreover, how can they sleep at night??

E90 is PCB failure. 😉 Needs new PCB board. Not sure if this one needs configuring or not.

Control panel showing as obsolete on Connections. An item described as ‘panel control’ seems to be available though – part no. 5031685110932 @ £56.94 + VAT. Sadly no photo to help me identify if this is the part you require. 🙁

    Hope that helps!
