Dragging an old topic to the top….

Had a call last month from a lady about this. (can’t confirm name as it was too long ago). But the M.O. seems the same, made an appointment, she tried to alter it later then failed to turn up.

    Wonder what’s going on?

I used to work for Indesit (in the good old days, honest they did exist!), and to be fair we tend to be in a bit of a glass bubble. It wasn’t until the redundancy came and I started working elsewhere that I realised how limited my knowledge of the trade actually was.

I don’t mean to patronise Kiddo, I don’t know how much previous he has got. But personally getting away from Indesit and some of the people there was the best thing that happened to me.

But to comment on the original subject: MDS appliances are a laughing stock and disgrace that the general public never see until it’s too late. The designers and quality control must be on something to let these things leave the factory. Unfortunately ever since Ariston merged/took over Indesit it’s been the ‘bean counters’ that have been running the show… and we all know what they’re like :/

They used to operate In Nott’m a few years back, they’d drive down from Sheffield and blitz the area. Same MO as you’ve described.

Haven’t heard of them for a while though, thought they finished…

I’ve replaced one of those blower fan units, absolutely awful! Apart from it falling to pieces half the screws sheared off due to rust etc. Unfortunately ‘they’ wouldn’t write it off.

Good thing is we don’t cover the area where it is now 🙂

Yes it is indeed broken, both in IE and Mozilla.

    Re: Integrated machine removal/installation?

Yes I do.. but not without a full explanation to the customer and his/hers permission. (get it in writing on your job ticket if you feel you need to).

When fitting Dw’s the aquastop nearly always needs a bigger hole unless the original machine came with one.

Have seen this several times when customers (eventually) explained that they have moved the machine for one reason or another.
They don’t think twice about tipping them back at odd angles and then the above happening.

Have done the hairdryer trick as above and have had ne recalls.

Another thing I’ve seen is where the back panel is against the (now redundant) vent hole through the wall. In cold weather condensation will form on the inside off the panel and water gathers.

Re: Bosch SGS43T52GB/16 FD 8505 DW

So why do they tell the customer they have to register it and enclose a reply form for doing so? Is it just so they can pick up the customer and try and sell them an extended warranty?

Exactly. I’ve recently rented out 26 Bosch Wm’s to student accomodation and contacted Bosch to register them. The nice chap there told me not to bother as the only purpose of the registration was to sell stuff to customers but my 2yr guarantee was good.

    Dragging this to the top.

I had a run in with these guys and have come off pretty well eventually.

Basically I fell for the thing as I was very busy at the time and thought I had nothing to lose so just agreed and got the wife to pay on her cc etc. Big mistake ofc.

To cut a long story short, once I realised the situation I went for the throat and threatened them with legal action as well as publicity and not only ended up with a full refund and withdrawal of any verbal contract, but the website they’ve created (crap ofc but hey!) is still up. On top of that the 0845 diverted calls are still working as well. Tbh I only get the odd call from them but it makes me smile that they’re the one’s who are paying 🙂

Short advice, if you are in these peoples grip then play tough, it seems to work.
