ParticipantRe: Bark…….. repair referrals.
Had one earlier, wow, what a catch their ‘clients’ are!
I’m trying not to incur a call out charge for nothing. We have tenants in the house and they have said the cooker’s ignition does not work. I am unsure if this has a battery or should be connected to the wall (just for the ignition). Its a gas cooker. If its broke I’ll gladly pay to fix it at a reasonable price. I just don’t want to pay a call out charge for someone to look at it.
Well worth paying money to get clients like this.
Don’t think I’ll bother though.

Thermistor is ok, I must admit I didn’t check the PS as it had filled to the correct level several times during first testing, so I assumed it would be ok. :clown:

ParticipantRe: Getting your T&C’s through to customers
Keep it very short, from the sounds of it you may be giving so much info, that they just zone out and say that they understand just to get off the phone.
With ours, we basically make sure they know they will have to pay at least the call out charge. Once this is understood then they either go elsewhere looking for free call outs (suits me) or confirm that it’s not too bad a charge compared with others and sort out the booking details.

ParticipantRe: Rent girl…ever felt had..
I must be lucky with my letting agents. I have half a dozen agents who use me quite a bit, and one who supplies me with loads of work (High Quality student lets).
I’ve had no problems with any of these regarding payments. I don’t lie, I don’t ‘make things last’, I just do the job right or not at all. That’s the way they all prefer it as well.
To be fair, they are all long established and reputable agencies, so that helps.
I have had the odd one in the past that wanted to discount 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off my invoices so they could make more money, but that only happens once.I hope I haven’t jinxed things now 🙁

ParticipantRe: MAAC Ltd
Had an email from these out of the blue today for a job in my area. They haven’t been in touch in any way at all before this so it was a bit of a surprise.
Just a mail saying “Its ***** from MAAC, I think this is the first job we have put through to you, would you be happy to complete the repair for us and invoice us directly (as discussed with ****). Here are the details:”
First port of call was to check up here as I was sure I’d heard of them before, then after that, just out of curiousity I thought I’d contact the customer.
He was decent chap and was thankful for someone actually contacting him as he’d been given the runaround for weeks now and was very fed up with it.
Anyway, after a chat he volunteered the information that his first contact was with a company called chilly something, which then passed him through to this MAAC lot.It was at that point I advised him that I wouldn’t be calling on him, which he took in good spirits really. He wouldn’t tell me whether he’d paid any money out, which sort of indicates he had.
I just hope he gets it all back, poor guy.But I thought the ‘Chilly’ connection was interesting.

ParticipantRe: CD601w cutting out.
Quick update from last week:
Thanks guys, I spoke to customer regarding cleaning filters and usage etc. I also diplomatically warned her of the consequences of it being a user fault and lo and behold… she rang back a few days later to cancel the call as it’s now working perfectly.
